WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross will return to WWE TV at WrestleMania 33 to call the match between Brock Lesnar and WWE Universal Champion Bill Goldberg, according to PWInsider.
Ross reportedly signed a new deal with the company that will see him used for material on the WWE Network and occasional appearances on WWE TV to call matches. No word yet on how often Ross will appear on TV.
The new deal was offered and signed before Ross' wife Jan passed away earlier this month, perhaps as long as 5 weeks ago.

Doesn't seem its going to affect his current NJPW/AXS TV deal although it did come at the cost of ITV who no longer can use him.
The new WWE deal would mean that Ross could not be involved the World of Sport revival when that series tapes its first episodes this May in Great Britain. Ross called the pilot on New Year's Eve last year and was involved with a lot of the creative and production. It appears that the possibility of Ross calling a series for ITV prompted the new WWE deal.
For those wondering about Ross calling New Japan on AXS TV, we are told that his status with that series would not change with this new WWE deal.

Wow. WWE haven't been this aggressive against a promotion before. They are slightly worried.

I think they've actually been working quite hard to establish a good working relationship with New Japan, so I don't know that they're actually concerned at all but maybe. :-\

I was more talking about World of Sport. Along with the UK contracts, this is another move.

Yeah, was on a motorcycle sans helmet and was struck from behind. Tragic. RIP, Jan :'(:wavesad:

In retrospect this announcement should have been the clue as to what was going down with Taker and Reigns since its guaranteed Taker asked for JR to call his last match..it didn't make any sense for him to call Lesnar goldberg

The need for guys from past generations to make shit feel special has officially spilled down to the commentators.

Still don't like the fact that we never got the Cena-Taker WrestleMania match. Ridiculous that they passed that up so much. It should have been Cena vs Taker and Miz & Maryse vs Reigns & Nikki with Reigns proposing at the end.

Ross' deal ended up being for 2 years and for a set number of dates.
WrestleMania 33 won't be the last we've seen of Jim Ross on WWE television.
In an article that Fox Sports ran about his weekend in Orlando, it was noted that Ross has signed a two-year contract with WWE to return in a variety of roles.
"It has a specific number of dates that I’m obligated to work, which I think is good for me,” Ross said. “So look at it this way: I got my jersey back. I got brought back to my home team, and my opportunities back in WWE, I’m sure, will be multi-fold."
