A rumor going around wrestling circles is that WWE has fired Primo and Epico following this past week’s SmackDownLive via not having anything for them to do. Primo is said to have opened up a store on ProWrestlingTees website as well.

If this happens to be true, the U.S. territory Puerto Rico could be in serious trouble, as the Colons were it’s primary export and responsible for nearly all the marketing to visit the island.

The World Wrestling Council, which is part-owned by Primo’s father Carlos Colon, posted a tweet about the Colons possibly requesting their release.

The speculation seems to be based on Epico Colon selling one of his t-shirts on ProWrestlingTees. WWE does not allow their wrestlers to sell shirts on there. However, on ProWrestlingTees, he’s described as a “wrestler currently performing in WWE as Epico,” so there may be nothing to these rumors and WWE may have made an exception for him due to blackmail or some other reason.

Update:
The Colons are still currently booked for SmackDown house shows this weekend, according to PWInsider, who has a tendency to report inaccurate information and get outscooped by Dave Meltzer and Ryan Satin. PWInsider also noted the Colons are "fucking miserable" in WWE and Epico only signed with the company because he was led to believe he would be a main-event heel.

That just leaves Smackdown with Alpha, The Usos, the Ascension, and The Fashion Police as the only tag teams...........I think.............if the Colons get released.

They are talented guys, but it's hard to care about them when they've lost Handicap Matches in almost every incarnation they've ever had to the Big Show. Crowds are changing too, so the way these guys just instinctively knew how to engage crowds from their Puerto Rico days is dissipating.

I could see Dutch Mantel making a play to bring them into TNA, or whatever they are going by now.

Seems odd the WWE would let Epico sell merch on his own but guess either their contracts are coming up very soon and/or WWE doesn't care as long as its not bootleg merch like with Earl Herbner.

The WWE has always had a very weird relationship with Puerto Rico. They have let The Colons go back and work WWC for major shows, outside their WWE personas. I don't really understand the relationship there.

I do think Epico was a bit naive thinking that he was going to get a main event heel push though. I do like his hybrid rolling suplexes combo, and he's seemed to have really bulked up. Well, last I saw him anyway.

I remember when Eddie Colon was first signed, there were Observer reports about him being more talented in the ring than Carlito. Good times.

Hype Bros. (Yeah, I know, they don't seem like as much of a tag team now given their recent loss to the Usos, but nonetheless, there they are...for now. Part of me wonders if Zack eating the pin this past Tuesday might be the catalyst for their split and one of them, preferably Zack, turning heel).

The Usos, The New Day and The Fashion Police are all SmackDown needs. American Alpha would find more air time on RAW, I believe. At this point, I'd consider putting Luke Harper & Erick Rowan back together, as many steps backwards as that seems.

I've been of the opinion for a long time that Epico & Primo should spend some time in NXT. Everybody gets over down there, and their experience can help enhance some guys. They will no doubt be treated more seriously and can always be brought back to the main roster when smarks love them.
