Apparently, they did this because MSG didn't sell out so if a title changed hands, it might make it more enticing next time they're there.

Instead of doing Raws, Smackdowns, and PPVs at the Barclays center, have one at MSG for a change.

I wonder how distressing the attendance numbers are for them. You can make all sorts of excuses for TV ratings falling and why or why not it matters but not selling out MSG or a PPV in Chicago is :|

Too expensive to run regular shows or at least that's been the reason given since MSG did their renovations.

MSG usually gets the biggest regular house show card(s) of the year mainly because of its historical status and WWE needing sellout-like range to recoup costs.

They always seem to put a little extra oomph into their MSG shows. I've always wanted the WWE to return to traditional PPV, and didn't agree with their initial decision to move everything to the Network. Expensive as it is to run there, an annual traditional PPV from the Garden could become something of a "second WrestleMania" to them. Yeah, they've got SummerSlam and lately they have been trying to load up Survivor Series, but they feel part of the PPV canon. You can create a new event that exists in a paradigm of its own.

Why the fuck would you want to go back to $30-$50 a month for 1 show as opposed to $10 a month with all the extra on demand content?

it'd just be one show. I see what Noid is saying. Makes it feel "special"

Maybe he is a part of TPWWs stream group so it doesn't matter to him.

Because you often get what you pay for. WWE "PPVs" are now episodic content, and not even "extended episodic" given the length of RAW. There's a psychology behind them of "well, it only costs $5" or whatever because you're splitting $10 a month between however many PPVs. And that spreads to the people presenting the show. Prestige pricing is a thing -- if you mark something up, people will see it as being a higher caliber product.

I would much rather pay $30-$50 for one show I really love than spend a cent on a show I am completely bored by. And if it gives the company another apex to build to throughout the year, then it might actually enhance the television content around it.

Basically this.
