I'm going to watch the sequel soon, but this was probably the best sports movie I've ever seen.

It's a good movie but "best sports movie" it certainly aint.
Alison Pill should never ever play a leading role in anything, especially not a fucking love interest. She has the face of a little boy.
Also I'm not sure it's a film that needed a sequel.

Space Jam is the best sports movie

Goon was better than Slapshot. Hated Benchwarmers.

If I was being serious I'd say the best sports movie is Tin Cup, Field Of Dreams or Rocky.

Goon was great. Goon 2 was alright. Greatest sports movie ever is A League Of Their Own.

If they get rid of the enforcer then Goon 2 may be the only sequel

This thread just made me realise which film I recognised Alison Pill from when watching American Horror Story.

I loved the Goon and have watched it many times on Netflixs.
But favorite sports movie is The Replacements.

Goon was better than Slapshot.
Eh... slow down.
That's almost like saying CB4 was better than This Is Spinal Tap.

Today I learned they called The Mighty Ducks just "Champions" in some parts of the world.........
Weird.......
Good pick for a sports movie, though

They called the sequel "The Mighty Ducks" here also, it caused a bit of confusion for us as children.

By the DVD era they were released here as The Mighty Ducks and D2: The Mighty Ducks though so it all worked out eventually

Goon better than Slapshot? You're about to cause a riot up here in Canada

Slapshot is one of those Paul Newman films I always want to see but have never had a chance. I don't think it has ever been on TV while I was watching.

Slapshit is what I call that crapfest. Typical Canadian unfunny nonsense. Such a lame movie from a lame country.

I picked up Goon 2 for £3 yesterday. It is not the film that the first one was, that's for sure.
It made me think though. I suppose it's trying to do a semi serious take on the enforcer in hockey and they could hardly celebrate smashing heads now what with CTE issue becoming huge news. It was a weird mixture of violence and disapproval and honestly the plot was just so thin. I've seen films held together by less but they usually had a lot of great scenes to distract you from the plot development.
You can tell that Evan Goldberg wasn't involved in the writing this time. I would advise Jay Baruchel to find a creative writing partner if he wants to try directing another film.
