Alachua County Sheriff said that Swann was arrested around Midnight and charged with battery and false imprisonment. No bond has been listed. The 26-year-old has been working for WWE since 2015 and in November of last year, he defeated Brian Kendrick on the premiere episode of 205 Live to become the new Cruiserweight champion.

There are no more details on his arrest as of press time. Swann is married to indy wrestler Su Yung and it’s not clear if she’s the one involved in the case.

He was meant to face Cedric Alexander for the #1 contendership tomorrow on Raw. They'll probably send out Hideo Itami in his place.

Anybody Thrilla
12-10-2017, 09:30 AM
Damn. I was just thinking about how good he was the other day. I don't think he would have gone over Cedric anyway, but this doesn't seem dope for anyone involved.

Anybody Thrilla
12-10-2017, 09:31 AM
That match would have been tight though.

I don't think we'll get Itami in his place, either. It'll probably be Drew Gulak (which would be fine) or Ariya Daivari (which would be exponentially less fine).

Wasn't it a fatal four way with Cedric, Swann, Gulak, and Neese?

Evil Vito

Oh shit that's right, Gulak did win. But he was supposed to face Swann.

It was a good Fatal Four Way but that I can't remember the outcome shows how unimportant the division really is.

I think Alexander hit his finish and Gulak stole the win so I can see why you thought Alexander won.

If your wife requires a hurricanrana to settle down then she needs to be updated with new drivers or turned in for a new one

And Jackson Andrews (remember him?).

In fact, I think Jackson Andrews was instantly released when he abused Rosa Mendes.

Either the WWE don't really care as much now as they say they do when it comes to domestic abuse, or the abused has to also be a WWE employee for it to be an instant release.

According to the Observer, the backstage reaction when Swann got arrested was a mixed of shock and some believing it would have happened eventually due to Swann and his wife's past. A lot of them also feel bad for the couple because they know how badly Swann screwed up his financial well-being.

According to Meltzer, many superstars were shocked to hear what happen but the people who knew Swann and his wife Vannarah Riggs, who works the indies as Su Yung, well knew that a situation like this was possible. Many who knew them from their time on the independent circuit would describe both of them as "broken" because of events in their lives before wrestling. They were able to find love in each other, but the relationship was believed to be combustible to begin with.

With Swann's future in the WWE currently up in the air, other superstars feel bad for how this might affect him and his wife financially. Meltzer noted that it's possible his WWE career is over for good.

Someone posted earlier that about his wife dropping the charges, doesn't matter if she refuses to cooperate or to testify against him. You have two statements that were submitted by eyewitnesses. He's screwed. Once you have eyewitnesses in an assault case, even if the victim refuses to cooperate, the state has picked up the charge and its no longer the victim pressing charges. The state doesn't need her to convict him. The statements of the two eyewitnesses alone will be enough to convict him.

He hasn't been released yet because WWE's Conduct Policy requires that the matter be resolved in some manner before any action is taken against talent regarding the cancellation or termination of their status as an independent contractor with World Wrestling Entertainment.

The false imprisonment charge if you look at the police report is a felony as well. He's looking at some serious time if he were tried and convicted. He's not stupid so his attorney will plea it out.

They'll drop the felony false imprisonment and he'll plead guilty to a misdemeanor count of spousal abuse/domestic violence, be required to complete a batter's intervention course, and likely fine/community service. There will be a no contact order with the victim as well and he'll be place likely on supervised/unsupervised probation for a period of time.

Regardless the outcome of plea deal or guilty finding, likely WWE will be terminating his contract with them.
