Besides having some fun like others mentioned, probably a way to weave a possible future storyline for his own wrestling promotion in Houston. If he was really threatening Graves, WWE likely would pull their connections and support for his promotion.

– As one might expect, the reported “heat” between Booker T and Corey Graves isn’t what it appears to be. There’s been a fair bit of speculation around apparent issues between the two after the WWE Hall of Famer said on his podcast that Graves was responsible for his being taken off the Raw commentary team and detailed his dislike of Graves. That was followed by Graves taking a shot at Booker on Raw this week, when he told Jonathan Coachman, “Watch your tongue or you might be doing afternoon radio locally.”

Well, it’s all a work according to Sports Illustrated. The outlet cites sources close to WWE who have confirmed that Booker did the podcast specifically to give Graves some extra heel heat on his way out of Raw commentary spot.

The site notes that with Booker campaigning for the Houston mayoral spot next year, if a candidate asks why Booker threatened harm upon graves by saying, “If I catch Corey Graves on the street, I’m gonna do something to him” then Booker can reference the fact that it is a work.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T noted on his radio show on Saturday that his comments about wanting to fight Corey Graves got blown out of proportion with major publications.

Booker T mentioned that he was actually happy to be moving to the pre-shows. Graves noted that they weren’t try to accomplish anything and they were “goofing off” and “just having fun.”

You can check out the entire video of the reveal above from Booker T’s radio show as Corey Graves joined him to clear the air. This is yet another lesson learned to anyone who jumped to conclusions thinking there was legit heat there. It was noted Booker T might not appreciate everything Corey Graves said to him while the two were a part of the Raw announce team, but it turns out this was all in fun and both have a deep understanding of the business. Therefore it looks like we’ve been worked again while Booker T and Corey Graves had a great time in the process.
