The matches are taped like 3 weeks before they actually air.

I dont think he should be fired. But i agree. I dont know what was being accomplished by putting a chair on his stomach and then hitting the chair with the bat. It really makes no sense. It makes more sense to not unfold the chair and hit him in the stomach. In fact, thats what should have happened if you're even going to do a bat/chair spot. Unfolding the chair is just fucking dumb to begin with. Regardless if he hits Eddie in the face on the ricochet or not.
Clearly the spot was to unfold the chair and set it up on Eddie Edwards chest because Edwards grabs the chair and tries to position it. The question is why? Who in TNA is giving the ok for these things? Why not just lay the chair across his chest and hit him with the bat then? Why unfold it? It makes no sense what so ever.
Or better yet, if you insist on unfolding the chair for some asinine reason. How about turn it the other way so ricochet is taken out of play ( atleast to the face. Edwards probably wouldnt have been able to make babies afterwards, but whatever). Someone in TNA backstage is ok'ing this stuff and they really need to be fired or demoted.

Whole spot was done very recklessly by Callihan from his bad positioning to the dumb idea of the chair not being folded.
Only bright side is Edwards moving the chair towards his chest likely saved him from suffering an even worse head injury assuming the bat still ricochets.

We as wrestling fans, complain and bitch, but you wanna know why you dont see shit like this in WWE? It's simple. There is a group of people that oversee this type of junk. They dont allow this mess. Someone in TNA dropped the fucking ball. Someone let Eddie Edwards take a bat to the face. It's a joke. It's not the bat swinging wrestlers fault. Are you serious? No way its his fault. You think he went out there on a pre taped show and pulled that shit? You're dumb if you think that. It's TNA's faut. There was so many different ways they can pull that spot. There was an instant in wcw where Liz decked Sting with his bat and I swear it was botched as Sting dropped like a sack of potatoes.
But yeah, I think you blame Callahan for being sloppy, but the full blame falls on the idiot who approved a dangerous and unnecessary spot. There was no purpose for it. A simple chair shot, or even driving the top of the bat's barrel into Edwards' ribs would've sufficed. That swinging the bat at the chair spot is horse shit

I dunno, I think there is a difference between botching and being ridiculous. Missing a bat catch is different to me than trying to hit a folding chair on top of a guy, which is so stupid in itself. And then swinging so wildly that you fracture a guys face?
Will always be a difference of opinion about things like this, but at the end of the day, you have to think about what is likely to injure your opponent.
Felt the same way tbh when AJ was breaking necks doing the Styles Clash. Wasn't worth it for such a shitty looking move even though it wasn't his fault. This is worse because it very clearly is his fault and what he was trying to do looks ridiculous anyway.

I actually saw this for the first time when I was out at a bar a couple nights ago. Somebody was interviewing Eddie Edwards and showing it on a split screen. Not sure what show it was, but it was definitely the first time I've seen anything from TNA in public.
