I just want to make a thread about Jericho, and his awesome career resurgence this year. Here are some videos I've just found that are really great. Jericho is like a calmer Bret Hart, he is a fan of wrestling, and a fan of himself, cocky sure but accurate I think.

And here is Jericho's post Dominion interview... awesome stuff...

Jericho has some of the coolest Kayfabe accolades of all time. First ever Undisputed Champion with WCW and WWE beating Rock and Austin in the same night. 10 time Intercontinental Champion, 9 times for WWE and now for IWGP. Successful wrestler, author, rock star, podcaster... I love everything going on with him right now. "The Brock Lesnar of Japan" is awesome and its highlighted by the fact that this Gaijin only wrestles in Japan during the NJPW expansion to North America. He's always doing something different. Sure he's been drinking a lot over the past few years but it doesn't seem to be a big problem seeing how dang busy the guy is.

They are teasing Jericho & The Bucks teaming up for a six man tag on the Rock 'n Rager btw.

Watched that press conference clip....... Cool @ Jericho winning a title!

Still don't like him using foul language, though.....

I like it at points but mostly agree with that. It seems to be a thing for English speakers to swear way to much for NJPW.

Been hailing Jericho for 20 years. I have said it before and I'll say it again: He's the closest thing our generation has to a Ric Flair.

People here seemed to poop on his last run in WWE (as far as in ring) but I thought he still delivered the goods....

Miss seeing him in the WWE......

Jericho is an all time great.

Also, anybody who didnt enjoy his last WWE run arent fans of entertainment.

Jericho has always delivered in the entertainment/in ring department. His returns and runs in various promotions may not have always been meaningful, had purpose, or continuity, but they've always been entertaining and he's never not delivered ring wise.

As far as meaning, purpose, or continuity, sure, some of that falls on him because he should do something to make that aspect better. However, a lot (or I'd argue most) of the blame for that falls on the bookers/creative/folks in charge more so than Jericho himself though.

I'll bite. He was wrestling guys who were as good of workers in WWE and not having nearly as good of matches. He's just wrestling a style better for his age to which he can actually have good matches.

Also, Bret Hart is the best of all time. #WRONGAGAINGERTNER

The only reason nobody believes it is because WWE don't want us to believe it.

Yes, one of the greatest. If you are ranking all time, id think it could easily be said he is in the top 20-25. That may not sound great, but considering how many pro wrestlers there have been, Jericho is in the top 1%, basically he really is EC3's gimmick.

Jericho has had 3 World Title matches at Wrestlemania. Thats not by accident.

It's a shame about his own music.

Yeah I agree except his latest album was actually "okay" for what it is. He has put out some real stinkers in the past, like all of them. But that latest album was legit, at least legit enough to get a PPV theme for WWE.

They weren't covers. That was all their original music! They got ripped off due to their bad deal, and all those other bands stole their songs while they were stuck in Japan!

Not going to lie; I've never wished for a Jericho vs McMahon breakup feud more than now.

All Jericho would have to do is cut an anti-Triple H promo coupled with some hate for Vince McMahon and the dude would be set for some big pay days.

I don't understand why being regulated to the mid-card WWE for years and over a decade is so appeasing to him.

The guy is leagues above most, especially Triple H. Never seen a bad match.

Have you ever heard of steady money? The midcard is appeasing because it's not top dog pressure, and it's steady work to do what you love to do on a high enough profile level to help you parlay it into anyone's pocket. That ego that he portrays isn't as big as he'd have you believe. He's a businessman, and bless him for it.

Mr. Nerfect
06-15-2018, 07:55 AM
I love Jericho. His latest run with Owens was...eh. Too goofy for me, and Owens was pretty mid-card as the Universal Champion. Jericho was clearly having fun and just there for a paycheck, so good for him, but eh. The match with Owens was a let-down too, but Owens let me down with Cesaro and AJ Styles as well. I liked Jericho vs. Styles and because I wasn't watching every week, I didn't see the same match five times, but rather a really good match between guys I like.

The New Japan move was actually really exciting. You don't get exciting in wrestling anymore. He's allowed to be more organic, natural and actually try and get heat. I'm not sure how much it actually works in Japan or in the present day, but I commend the artistry. In that sense, I don't like it how he is all buddy-buddy with the boys on his podcast and stuff, but I guess he's probably paid to do it and he's got to fill it with something.

I thought he carried the match with Omega. I like that he gets to work more of a brawling style, which is the smartest thing he can do. Yet to see the match with Naito, but I will check it out.

Jordan
06-15-2018, 09:23 AM
I was just watching the Naito match, it's really awesome but there is a theme I'm seeing with Jericho since he returned for AJ. He's heavier, and he botches spots from time to time. His timing is off a little because of the extra weight or maybe also injuries. But there is something about the sloppiness that comes off raw and real, kind of like a better version of CM Punk. But I gotta say, I do want him to lose the gut.

I think the Naito match is better than the Omega match.

Ol Dirty Dastard

He's not getting rid of that gut. It's now part of who he is. #GutIsJericho

He's almost 50 and he's not on the gas or HGH, so it's just how it's going to be. As long as he's not trying to work a technical style, the small botches will be fine and actually work with the flow of his dirtier, grittier matches. Unfortunately, he'll come back to WWE and they'll have him trade wristlocks with AJ again.

Jordan
06-15-2018, 09:54 AM
Man the first 10 minutes of that Naito match are so fucking raw. He looks so legit as he beats the shit out of him.

Ol Dirty Dastard
06-15-2018, 09:54 AM
He actually said he put on weight for his NJPW run on purpose. It's not a company based on bodies any way. Stan Hansen wasn't exactly chiseled out of granite.

You'd know more than me. He was definitely the most interesting part of that match. Kenny loses me. It was a more refined performance from Omega, that's for sure.

Ol Dirty Dastard
06-16-2018, 11:25 AM
Via the immutable laws of physics, #GutIsJericho couldn't carry a match versus Kenny. Remember, if Kenny decided he wanted to blow Chris up, Chris would be fucked.

Mr. Nerfect
06-16-2018, 07:07 PM
It was more the pacing and psychology I was focusing on. It felt like Jericho set the tone for it all. I do think Destor is right, because the spots needed Omega to be on, but Omega upped his game for it. And Jericho is a much better personality to me.

The match worked because of everything Jericho put into it, but saying he "carried it" was a bit extreme and naive on my end. I spoke without thinking.

Mr. Nerfect
06-16-2018, 07:09 PM
By the way, I like the gut on Jericho. It plays into him being the bitter vet and makes him feel more "burly" which plays into the brawling he's doing. I don't really need Jericho to have abs in 2018.

Ol Dirty Dastard
06-16-2018, 10:46 PM
Oh yeah it totally works for him. And he still looks athletic and has ab muscles. I know lots of athletic dudes with guts - the two aren't mutually exclusive.

The only thing KIND of hurting his look is his chest, which is quite saggy but I'm being nitpicky.

Mr. Nerfect
06-16-2018, 11:57 PM
Yeah, agreed. I do have to say though, I fucking cringe every time Jericho goes for the Lionsault now. I've never seen him fuck it up, but every time feels a little bit closer to that time. It just feels like the move is "slow" and out of place for him now anyway. He's fine using the Codebreaker and the Walls.

Mr. Nerfect
06-16-2018, 11:57 PM
Lol, remember when Jericho started using The Stroke for a few months in 2001 and called it "The Breakdown?"

I don't doubt it. It looks like there's a problem with his chest. Kind of weird though, you don't nec. need to work your chest super hard to have some definition.... but he's not lean.

Jordan
06-17-2018, 10:39 AM

Anyone remember hearing about Jericho ripping his pecs? That's what it looks like when steroid users rip a muscle and doesn't have surgery to reattach the muscle.

Mr. Nerfect
06-18-2018, 04:09 AM
I don't remember hearing about him ripping his pecs, but I do remember Brian Last pointing out that Jericho's chest looks weird on Cornette's podcast, and Lance Storm took exception and said "he's injured, you moron" or something, so Last started calling him "Cunty" Lance Storm.
