Why doesn't Braun just flip the arena so the briefcase is on the floor and he doesn't have to climb a ladder?

The fact that they went with one member of new day and didn't just have them all attack gives me hope. Trying to keep people off the scent by not giving them the idea that all three could win.

Nakamura screaming "Come on!" and then getting kicked in the nuts before the Phenomenal Forearm through the table (which I loved when he did it against Reigns too). Just saw a video of fans during Reigns/Mahal, and tweets from guys like Bubba Dudley and Charles Robinson condemning the fans.
It's got to ridiculous levels now. Not only do fans need to like who they are told, but they have to passively sit through shit too, even though they have bought their tickets.
Fans do not want to see Roman Reigns as a top guy and fans do not want to see Mahal as a major player. They are entitled to think they both suck and have been pretty vocal about that for a while. So the company throws them together and then cries when fans revolt at having to see them.
It's stubbornness to an unbelievable degree. Just crazy how this company is run nowadays.
Ol Dirty Dastard
06-18-2018, 12:19 PM
Yeah I don't get why these fucking wrestlers get so upset that fans don't like Reigns. Everyone knows he's decent but everything he's involved with stinks.
Reigns is a good wrestler but he just isn't (and hasn't) cut it for me personally as "the guy". I'm just not interested in his character. Boring promos. Boring feuds.
Let fans choose 'their superhero' and if most fans choose a Seth Rollins or Braun Strowman common sense is to push that person for the time being. One of the reasons NXT does so well is they cycle out their top heels and faces (granted it's by design of call-ups to the main roster...but it works).
Nope i decided it was warranted after seeing y'all care so much about Batista dick size,Wanting to forgive benoit, acting like y'all could run it better than vince.

Just watched the rest of the show (watched half yesterday)
Overall, really enjoyed the show. Zayn/Lashley and Reigns/Mahal were the only "really bad" things. Rollins/Elia and Bryan/Cass were "not very good", but "not bad".
Really loved the Styles/Nakamura match..... really liked their whole feud even though people here like to be negative and poop on everything......
Really shocked at Braun winning the MitB, but I ain't mad at it. Just seemed to me that he was maybe "never going to win" the big one because he "didn't need it".

Didn't get a chance to watch this last night but just finished watching a replay.
* Skipped the pre-show and just going to assume the Bludgeon Bros actually smashed someone with their hammers for once.
* at Bryan beating Cass. Should have never been a feud to begin with but still laughing at Vince/WWE getting cold feet on a big push for Cass. Match itself was pretty good as an opener.
* Lashley-Sami match was meh. Didn't really do anything for Lashley besides show his lack of strength holding his finisher.
* at "we are scumbags" chant after being called a town of scumbags by Elias. Elias-Rollins was pretty great overall. Need to think but that might have been Elias' best singles match of his RAW/WWE career.
* Ouch at Sasha and Moon getting powerbombed onto ladders. at the ladder being in the wrong spot for a while and only Becky noticing it. Much better Women's MitB match than the last time but really dumb for Bliss to win since she's legit the last person who needed it.
* Reigns-Jinder match was meh and still don't care at all about this feud.
* The booking of this Carmella-Asuka match has been horrendous. Same for the ending. 2nd time Asuka gets overshined for what should have been her big moment. Going to laugh if Vince/WWE didn't want an Asuka victory to overshadow Ronda again. Whatever was left of Asuka's aura got flushed down the drain and now she's just another person on the roster.
* at Nakamura begging for mercy from his low blow attempt. Nakamura eventually hitting his trademark Nut Punch. Nakamura's facial expressions after every time Styles breaks the count has been great. Holy Shit at Nakamura's head almost hitting the steps on the Styles Clash. at the thud from Styles low blow to Nakamura. Amazing Phenomenal Forearm through the table. That was one of the best ever Last Man Standing matches but Nakamura really needed to win. He's just like Asuka now in terms of being just another person on the roster now.
* Ouch at Ronda's botched fall to the outside. Add Ronda to the list of people who have a better knee strike than Rollins Kneemaker. Ronda-Nia match was a lot better than I expected. Bliss has pretty much become the female version of Triple H with her Reign of Terror 2.0 on the Women's title scene.
* Pretty cool swerve to reveal which New Day member is in the Men's MitB match. Holy shit at Owens' toss from the ladder. Coup de Grace from the ladder was pretty cool by Balor. Match was pretty good overall and cool that Braun won since maybe WWE will finally give him a Universal title reign he deserved. Braun is like Bliss though that he was the last person who actually needed the case and sort of useless to give the case to a RAW guy.

For those who want to read my thoughts of results/impressions on the snippets I've seen. And sure, you can consider that I didn't watch the whole show as a detriment to me even having an opinion, but they've turned this once loyal viewer's interest off, so there's that:
* The Bludgeon Brothers beating Gallows & Anderson reminds me how little tag team wrestling matters. I like Anderson and love Harper, but neither team feels like they're "hot." I like that Harper is becoming more "human" in the photos I've seen of him. More glossy. Quite a handsome man underneath all that. But can we please just get back to them having great matches against The Usos without things being rushed or other teams jamming things up?
* Cass was trying against Bryan, but he isn't very good. Bryan was working hard to prove he can have a solid match with anybody. I was expecting Cass to win, if just to prepare myself. I hope Bryan can move onwards and upwards now. Big Cass is one of the few big men that I think should be a babyface. Either that or just a bodyguard. But as a babyface, his weird body, lack of intimidating features and otherwise goofiness isn't so much of a detriment. He's green enough that I can buy heels getting heat on him. He's just big. If he were in a tag team with someone good, he can get the hot tag off them and do a few things and maybe get pretty over that way.
* In regards to Bobby Lashley, Vince needs to understand that Superman isn't the coolest DC character and that being a lame family guy isn't endearing to people who love violence. It didn't occur to me how dumb it was to put Lashley against Sami in Chicago. Lashley already feels disenchanted. I'm not sure if he is, but I'd already be frustrated if I was him. Artistically, anyway. I'm sure he's getting paid nicely, but I'm not sure the guy was hurting for cash in the first place.
* I just don't get it with Elias. I'm sorry, I really don't. His voice doesn't seem heelish or to have the right bass for the character. He sounds like a nice guy for a Drifter. In the ring he's got a long way to go. He looks good and does some things really well, but other things are really lacking. But I think people latch onto him because he's a gimmick in a world of no personality wrestlers and project more charisma onto him than is actually there. I think he's a symptom of the times. Solid match, but Seth could have far better matches with a lot of other people.
* The Women's Ladder Match seemed pretty crazy. They certainly tried. I'm kind of disenchanted with "we all get spots and we are all interchangeable and everyone gets a turn" matches in WWE though. I'd just like to see people get honest pushes. It's hard as an occasional viewer to care about any of this, and it's sad, because they're all trying their little hearts out. I'm still salty that the first-ever women's Ladder Match in WWE was not between two rivals fighting over a belt, and was instead a "everyone gets in" shmozz.
* What I saw of the Reigns/Jinder match actually seemed solid. Up to the point that it doesn't work. Sunil was goofy and it was more of the obtuse "look at how we set things up so we all fall down on cue" style of wrestling that WWE has done for years but is far more jarring when most of the wrestling you watch is from earlier periods. So weird that the top guy in WWE literally doesn't matter and that you could fire him and no one would care. He's so good and they go through all these broad motions of things that should work, but they don't. And they won't. Probably ever until he "turns heel." But even then, I wonder if people just think "No" about anything he's ever going to do in the business.
* Asuka is a very good wrestler. Carmella is not a very good wrestler. This looked better than I thought it would. Seemed like it was pieced together about as well as a match between a very good wrestler and a very bad wrestler can be. It would be better if they put very good wrestlers against very good wrestlers and didn't employ very bad wrestlers. The ending was stupid and felt racist to me. I don't give a fuck about Asuka if she believes her own entrance attire is haunted. Also, Corey Graves letting me know that something is genius is a pretty good wink that it's not.
* I've made me thoughts clear on how much I want to see Styles/Nakamura in full. Other thoughts: Nakamura has really good facial expressions. He's actually a really good "sports entertainer." I can see Vince loving him. I haven't seen all of this feud, but I actually loved the Mania match and this one seems up my alley too. Enough professional wrestling in it for me not to hate it. I'm sure Nakamura is not a belt mark. AJ Styles winning this feud means it can end and that we can have a champion we believe in. Nakamura will still earn the same amount of money and is still a valued employee of WWE.
* Ronda Rousey is a little trooper. She's hot, she's a star and she seems willing to do anything. It doesn't mean she should do everything though. She doesn't need to be working with Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss. Feels like there are two divisions for female wrestlers in WWE -- the women's division and the divas division.
* Lol at Kofi Kingston being in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. By the way, aren't they fucking annoying now? Remember when people loved them because it felt like they got leeway to do whatever they want? Now they make owl noises and love pancakes. I'm sure that's been going on for a while, but it's painful to actually see it. It's another match where guys just get in and do shit and someone randomly wins hooray. It's hard to care. How is this different from other MITB Ladder Matches? How was it different from the one earlier in the night? Why does this gimmick still exist? Why throw 8 people into a Ladder Match for a rigged title shot in 2018? Why not crown a rightful contender and push them? It's just very silly and arbitrary and it's a big part of why they have no full-time stars.
* Turn Roman Reigns heel and have him go against AJ Styles. Let Brock go with the Universal Title. End the brand split. Bryan can wrestle Nakamura and Reigns can win the WWE Title and defend it against Bryan at WrestleMania. Focus in on simple stuff instead of this approach to throwing people out there like Homer Simpson's makeup gun.

Actually realized I didn't talk much about the results up there, but that's because none of them really matter. Braun could challenge Brock or Roman without the briefcase. You have to make yourself care about this product to head canon any real stakes.
I want to reiterate that AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura are great though, because I know I will get criticized for being too negative and asked why I bother to think about wrestling when I hate this particular brand and philosophy of wrestling so much.

I'm imagining watching a highlight reel of my fave baseball team and thinking "wow they had a pretty good season" only to find out they were a 65 win team because a highlight reel presents no context or storytelling.

Like watching a Ravens highlight reel and coming away with the impression that Joe Flacco is the best QB ever.

It's being lazy yet some how expecting to take your opinion seriously.
Like whatever, I don't mind if he doesn't like the product, (neither do I) but don't come here writing essays about shit you didn't even watch. The notion is asinine.
Except I clarified that in the opening line of my actual post, which I put into spoiler tags. Triggered much, son?
I'm not offering a professional review. I'm offering my impressions of the general creative direction, the atmosphere and the work I actually saw. You're projecting this idea of a "full review" onto me entirely. And as I said, if people don't want to take it seriously...fine? There are critics who give their impressions from trailers and review television series based on a few episodes. It's a part of the content's role to hook people. When WWE content gets better at that, I can give "full reviews" with a lot more nuance. But I don't think there is anything wrong with saying "I've seen this spot" or "I've seen this match" or "I heard this promo" or "they are going in this direction" and giving my thoughts on that and whether it makes me more or less likely to get back into the fold.

I don't understand how you can grade a show watching a highlight reel. It'd be like scouting a pro athlete prospect on his highlight reel instead watching his performance in its entirety.
Lol, I didn't grade it.
It would be like getting a highlight reel of a pro-athlete and deciding whether or not you actually want to see their performance. It's actually got nothing to do with scouting even. It's more like seeing clips of a game and deciding if you even want to watch. That doesn't mean you can't comment on the tackles that you saw. What the fuck is with this weird professional standard on a wrestling forum discussion? This is going to sound odd coming from me, but stop taking yourselves so seriously.

No, Dale is being particular and stir the pot again. There is nothing wrong with giving your impressions about what you've digested around a show. You'd obviously want to ask someone who watched the entire thing how it came together as an entire show, but I wasn't offering that analysis. I was offering my impressions, which has bothered Dale and Damien, because how dare anyone not watch every single minute of a movie to tell you apart the parts they saw.

Brb gonna go do a review on the new Jurassic park. Haven’t seen it but caught the preview and read Richard Roeper’s review so I think I have enough to go on.

You can absolutely talk about whether the trailer was effective or not, and how casting decisions make you feel. You can also read Richard Roeper's review to see if it syncs up with the sort of movie you'd feel like seeing. If you catch a 40-minute sneak peak, you can talk about that too. I wouldn't call it a "review" though, by very definition.

To be fair, I can read/see a highlight of how Asuka lost and honestly say "That was fucking stupid" without having to sit and watch the entire match.

This is fair. I dont have to waste 2 hours of my life watching a movie to have a strong idea on if I'll like it or not. Its not a radical thimg

You don't have to watch the whole thing no doubt. You probably need to watch more than a highlight package before you write a comprehensive breakdown as though you watched it

"What are you, in love with me?" Is pretty much what you're saying here. Be better Noid... just an awful defence mechanism.
My main thing here is I have no issue with you saying "I watched the highlight package, the show seemed not worth my time and really dumb". You and I both know that's not what happened.

You know the story and the end of a wrestling match from a review/highlight video. It's not the same as a movie trailer. The right comparison would be like... a "crib notes" version of a movie that tells you the story including the ending in like 5 minutes.

Thank you. I'm sorry if I gave the impression I was going a blow-by-blow review. I went back to check I didn't misspeak, but I never used the word "review." I simply gave my impressions on what I saw and what my general impressions of the story are. May have sounded too detailed for some. But I did preface it by saying that I hadn't watched the whole thing and that I put my thoughts in spoiler tags.
By the way, the highlight video was 40 minutes long. It was 40 minutes I won't get back. At least I ate some food while doing it.
