WWE should have booked the HOF at MSG to keep this from happening but anyway

Guess WWE got scared of ROH's legal threats again. What made it worse this time was Sinclair getting involved since they are way more powerful and richer than the WWE.
Brilliant move on ROH/NJPW's part. I hope it's a big hit.
I see both NXT Takeover and this show selling out on the same night.

This next WM week will go down as the most successful week in the history of the business. I don't have hard facts on that, but how could it not? We will have over 80,000 for the show of shows, MSG will sell out, WWE will sell out Barclays 4 times... Hammerstein and Melrose Ballroom will sell out multiple times. Going to be truly insane. So happy to be a New Yorker for this WM week.

Yeah, good if it sticks, but WWE might just tell MSG that if they cancel those shoes they will book Undertaker for one last singles match at MSG.

Interesting. It's a symbolic and expensive move, but we'll see how it plays out for them.

Good a time as any to finally have Vince start looking over his shoulder.

According to the Observer, main reason this event got back on schedule was due to MSG not being willing at all to "take the bullet" for the WWE in regards to Sinclair's lawsuit threat.
MSG caved first and got a deal done where Sinclair & ROH dropped their legal threats and in return got their date back for the ROH-NJPW MSG event. WWE pretty much had no say in the matter.
ROH and MSG reached an agreement to drop legal action in exchange for getting their date back. The description was that MSG had no intentions of taking a lawsuit bullet for WWE. When asked by the New York Post how things changed, Koff said that MSG were the people to ask. Essentially after the legal situation got started, MSG called and offered them back the date.

At this point, Jimmy Dolan needs to call up Vince and tell him, "If your next Raw or Smackdown after Summerslam is at Barclays Center, we're done. Ring of Honor in your backyard will be the least of your worries"

Any suit over something as that against WWE wouldn't be thrown out of court.

Two-thirds of the tickets for the MSG show have already been sold. They don't even go on sale to the general public until Friday.
That's great
I had no doubt this would sell out. I also think TakeOver will sell out. I wasn't thinking about going to WM 35 because I think it will be cold...but I might have to think about ROH/NJPW if I can nab a ticket.

So is Ticketmaster or StubHub going to be selling tickets? Or you gotta go somewhere special like the New Japan website.
My plan is to rush home and get mine after work.

During a recent interview with CBS, ROH's General Manager mentioned the company is well aware WWE is going to step up their efforts to poach as many big ROH stars as possible to wreck ROH's chances of being successful with this event.
Also hinted they are already working on contingency plans to lessen the damage WWE wants to inflict.

Is the Contingent plan "sign Bryan Danielson and CM Punk"?
Looks like it's sold out in under 5 minutes

Camped out at Ticketmaster for the 10 AM release, got a spinning circle for three minutes before it finally started to let me search for tickets, and they've already sold out except for platinum seats that are going for $750 a pop.
Knew I should've signed up for Honor Club.

ROH just sold out the fucking Garden
I got super lucky and was able to nab a ticket wayyyyy at the top of MSG.
I'm guessing tickets will be on stubhub too -- people will 'over-inflate' the prices at first, like they do for every wrestling event, and then drop back down to reasonable pricing in a few days

**New Japan Pro Wrestling** and ROH. ROH is the hanger-on and NJPW is what is really drawing this.

I'm not sure about either of that. I don't think anything is really *drawing* people. It's a show in the Garden on WrestleMania weekend.

just got 2nd row tickets 2 seats from the stage. Very cool. I see the people behind me are selling their tickets for over $3,000 a pop lol. Probably gonna grab NXT tickets and go to whichever one looks better. Hopefully the MSG show gives us some classic New Japan matches and not ROH vs. NJPW. Not interested in tag matches. I wanna see something like Tanahashi vs. Okada, Ishii vs. Omega, something that you know is gonna be a war.

I hope the card looks like this:
Main Event- IWGP Heavyweight Title Match- Kenny Omega (C) vs. Kazuchika Okada
#1 Contender For IWGP Heavyweight Title Match- Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Tomohiro Ishii
ROH World Title Match- Jay Lethal (C) vs. Rush
NWA World Heavyweight Title Match- Cody Rhodes (C) vs. Flip Gordon
IWGP & ROH World Tag Team Title 4-Way Ladder Match- The Young Bucks (C) vs. The Briscoes vs. EVIL & SANADA vs. Best Friends
IWGP Intercontinental Title Match- Chris Jericho (C) vs. Dalton Castle
IWGP United States Title Match- Juice Robinson (C) vs. Minoru Suzuki
IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title Match- KUSHIDA (C) vs. Will Ospreay
ROH World TV Title Match- Punishment Martinez (C) vs. Marty Scurll
Hiromu Takahashi Return Match- Hiromu Takahashi vs. Dragon Lee
6 Man Tag Match- CHAOS (Hirooki Goto, Jay White, & Toru Yano) vs. SCU (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, & Scorpio Sky)
6 Man Tag Match- The Kingdom vs. Team CMLL (Negro Casas, Ultimo Guerrero, & Volador Jr.)
I can't think of what I'd do with Naito or Ibushi but right now that's what I'd hope for for this card.

It's 100% New Japan
No way, it's a wrestling "other."
Noid, I feel like u "don't know what you are talking about".
It would not randomly sell out "just because it isn't WWE"....New Japan has been red hot for a lot of hardcore fans for over a year and a half now. If IMPACT booked MSG it wouldn't have sold out, same for ROH alone. New Japan has a different type of prestige to it those two feds don't and haven't had.
Mr. Nerfect
09-06-2018, 09:21 AM
If New Japan had booked MSG on their own they wouldn't have sold out. They couldn't sell out that venue in California. There's buzz about other big shows that aren't WWE at the moment, because everyone is disenchanted with the current WWE product. The people who care about New Japan have also heard of ROH and probably watch WWE and are the sort of people who are interested in Mania weekend.
If it were just New Japan, Vince would have blocked them too. ROH's parent company has the stature to make this possible. The New Japan relationship has been ROH "reaching" for a while, but New Japan is actually getting something out of it now that Sinclair have started muscling it around a bit.
Mr. Nerfect
09-06-2018, 09:25 AM
By the way, I didn't say it would "randomly sell out" or suggest that PWG would do the same or anything. What I'm saying is that it's not like people would sleep on this because it's ROH and then suddenly go "Oh shit, it's also New Japan? I'm there!" New Japan definitely helps them, but it's a wrestling company with smark equity playing in Vince's backyard during a period of time where shows like All In can have success.
When it comes to wrestling that isn't WWE, I think people underestimate the overlap in the Venn diagram of fandom. People who give a shit about New Japan and people who give a shit about ROH aren't these completely different circles.
Mr. Nerfect
09-06-2018, 09:29 AM
If New Japan pulled out of this show, I don't think you get 18,000 people asking for refunds.
