Except AJ's likeable and he can wrestle unlike Cena and he's not a glorified mid carder like Triple H

I know all that. I don't hate or even dislike AJ as champ, far from it. I guess maybe I'm just holding on to the motto/tagline/ideology of SDL since Brand Split 2.0 started as "The Land of Opportunity".

I just keep hoping against hope that WWE will show me, on either brand or more preferably both (but good luck with that with Vince still in charge) of building up new guys from NXT or even ones just acquired and slapped on either brand as stars they can build the foundation for some kind of future for them.

Kurt could just come out and demand the match continue in OT with show time remaining though. Would be doubly genius since this is not traditional PPV but rather on their own Network so "time remaining" could also be made whoever gets the next point in order to allow for any possible overrun.

Why? Roman lost...CLEAN. He (no pun intended) literally has no dog in the fight, big or otherwise. You drop the ball, you deal with the consequences. You don't get to get away with whining and crying and bitching and moaning and throwing a hissy fit 13,789 ways to 5 Sundays from now about how IT'S NOT FAIR I NEVER GET TO PLAY WITH THE CHAMPIONSHIP! THE OTHER BIG KIDS ARE ALL SO MEAN, DADDY KURT! MAKE THEM SHARE! WAH! Someone needs to hammer it home to Roman that life isn't always fair and when you blow a chance to climb up a rung, you go to the back of the line and wait your turn again if you ever get one and EARN another shot, ESPECIALLY when you lose cleanly. I truly detest wrestlers in WWE wearing street clothes in the ring.

Cena and his dumbass "jorts" literally the worst offender ever of this.

Meh. Depends on the person/gimmick. Worked for Raven or Curtis Hughes.

What gets me, though, is when the guy is clearly wearing ring gear underneath. What's the point? Pick one.

Tom Guycott
07-16-2018, 01:08 AM
I kinda picture it being something like:

Randy to Creative: I'm healed & cleared to return. What you got for me?

Creative to Randy: Well, nothing. Go out there and crush Jeff's nuts. We'll figure it out later.

Knowing wwe that is probably on point.

I think you two are giving WWE too much creative credit. It was likely more like:

Randy to Creative: I'm healed & cleared to return. What you got for me?

Creative to Randy: Can't you see we're eating? Can't do two things at once! Just... just go figure something out, we'll write around it.

Corbin and Ambrose bother me the most. I don't care about Cena's shorts or Braun or Kevin Owens that all makes sense to me. Raven made sense, Dreamer made sense but Dean Ambrose to this day bothers me and no there is probably no going back.... And Corbin's vest and shirt is so constricting I don't know why anyone would ever choose to wear that in an athletic contest.

Just finished watching a replay of this after missing out originally from a nap that lasted way longer than it should have.

Skipped the pre-show but going to assume El Idolo was great.

Legit surprised the RAW Tag Title opened the show. Guess wanted RAW really wanted their own Slater & Rhyno moment for the tag division. Probably the most dire division in the entire WWE.

Corbin-Balor was decent.

Apparently refs are terrible at frisking people considering the amount of stuff Ellsworth had on him in the cage. Whatever was left of Asuka's aura as a star is gone now.

 at a pre-match low blow by Nakamura. Wonder if that set the record for shortest ever US title match. Between Nakamura's low blow and Orton's stomp, not a good night for Jeff's balls.

 Owens beat Strowman. Sure it involved him getting chuck off the cage and got broken in half but still a win in the end. The cage match has been the best match so far tonight.

"We Want Kane" chants has to be up there among biggest WWE surprises of 2018. Smackdown Tag Title match was good but nothing special in the end.

 at B Team trying to recruit Reigns to the group.

Reigns-Lashey was decent. Still don't care at all about this feud. Also a bit funny Lashley beat Reigns with a spear.

RAW Women's title match was meh. Ronda botching a bunch of spots was a bit worrying although probably due to her rushing things. Between the main roster and NXT, none of the current Women champs are that compelling.

Really surprised the WWE title match wasn't the main event considering the issues with WWE Ironman matches. RuRu vs Styles was really great overall. Kind of a bad sign it took until almost the end of the event for a great match to happen.

1st 10 minutes of this Ironman match has been a mess. Same for the match's flow with none of the scoring feeling special. at the Rumble countdown chants. Holy shit there is still another 15 minutes left, not sure if I can take watching anymore of this. at more countdown chants and at least the crowd is having some fun since this match hasn't been. Juts like almost every other WWE Ironman match, this was a big dud outside the last few minutes. at the anti-climatic ending from the restart.

The fans are obnoxious and they can choose not to be obnoxious... But WWE definitely helped cultivate that mindset. They don't get off without any blame. The internet helped create a certain type of wrestling fan and WWE, as opposed to trying to put forth a product that gets those more passionate fans involved in the story being told in the ring, just welcomes it and even highlights it a lot of the time.

People who pay to come see your show should be able to respond however they want. If they're responding by making their own entertainment and basically ignoring what you're giving them, there's a problem. And it's on you to fix it.

Destor
07-16-2018, 11:15 AM
Cant be fixed. They could give them the product they want and they would spit it out. Its like trying to feed a 3 year old. The audience does not want to enjoy the product and would actively refuse anything theyre served.

Cant be fixed. They could give them the product they want and they would spit it out. Its like trying to feed a 3 year old. The audience does not want to enjoy the product and would actively refuse anything theyre served.

If it's gotten to the point where the product is unfixable, it's still the fault of the company putting out the product. WWE doesn't get a special pass. In any form of entertainment it's up to the company to get people invested in what they're showing and if they can't it's not the fault of the people.

#1-norm-fan
07-16-2018, 12:03 PM
And even if you believe that WWE fans just live to hate the product and will do so no matter what, why is that mindset specific to WWE fans? That theory just lends more credence to the idea that WWE has fostered the mindset.

Is it more likely that sometime in the early 2000's millions and millions of wrestling fans just randomly became angry, bitter and impossible to please all at the same time or that the company changed and stopped giving them something they could enjoy and turned them into what we see now?

#1-norm-fan
07-16-2018, 12:14 PM
It's like if you shot your best friend's mother and then kept trying to be friends with him and whenever he's like "No. Fuck off. I hate you." you're just like "Damn. You're clearly just determined to hate me no matter what. Your fault. Not mine."

It wasn't that bad...

Which WCW show is he referring to?

Maybe the Starrcade where Hogan pinned Sting but then they pretended he didn't.

I agree - it wasn't that bad. It was more just 'eh' and bland...I've definitely seen worse.

They think theyre smart and they want you to know about it.

That's pretty much society as a whole, since the internet took off.

Probably none specifically and more like mid to late era WCW where nothing on PPV really mattered and were mainly just fillers or throwaways for Nitro. WWE already has this problem going on for years.

Only notable stuff from last night was a joke team winning the RAW tag titles and Owens winning a cage by getting tossed out even though the main reason for the match was for Owens to not be able to escape from Braun.

Fans thinking theyre smarter than the product isnt their fault. Thats just wrestling fans. They think theyre smart and they want you to know about it.

I blame the company more for driving away casual fans that outnumber the hardcores left. By making themselves a niche product, they've put themselves in the safekeeping of those fans.

don't know how anyone can enjoy a show watching with this lens. I mean... if someone stinks I won't "chant" or make noise. But if something is good I'll get on my feet and clap. Fuck getting myself over.

I question why these people go to these shows myself. If they didn't go, there wouldn't be enough fans to fill the hard camera side. They give Vince McMahon their money and then whinge. I'm all for whinging, just stop voting for this shitty product.

(Whispering): QUIET! You want Vince to come across that post and decide he should put Roman in every PPV main event from now on?!

Anyway, they'd already done AJ/Rusev earlier because he's forgotten that the championship bearing your company's name should probably be more important than a "World Heavyweight" or "Universal" title, and Brock wasn't defending his belt on the show, so RAW's 2nd most important championship got to main. I won't spoil anything if you haven't seen the show and want to by some chance but it was an excellent match to end on. It was the first time since Backlash (2001) that the Intercontinental Championship sin evented a PPV, with the only other time previous to that was SummerSlam (1992).
