Becky was built up for ages, winning matches and earning her spot. Then Charlotte gets entered into the match because she is their golden child. I don't even hate Charlotte -- I think she's great -- but this is just further evidence that this company does not have its finger on the pulse or humanity of its performers, and if they are going to try and make Charlotte the likable one in this, they are going to do active damage to how people perceive her.

If their end goal is Charlotte vs. Ronda, then they need to make sure that they aren't going to Brock/Roman it, which is the direction they are currently facing because they're fucking stupid.

Interest seems to be generally down, and I can't imagine being a new fan and even trying to make sense of why there are two brands, how any of this makes sense, why they keep going on about women having jobs in 2018, why the black people all act the same, why the same verbiage is used all the time and why its own audiences hate it so much.

Pretty much night and day the difference between Smackdown's great tag division and RAW's joke of a division.

That doesn't really satisfy me. Harper has that feature match against Orton at the Elimination Chamber PPV. And it was really good. Harper worked babyface and he got people into it. They didn't care at the start, but they did by the end. He's been used in quite prominent roles alongside Bray and against guys like Bryan and Cena. But it's like he's cooled tremendously on him. His career went down after the Orton match.

I did hear something about Harper doing a horror film role or something? Maybe Vince didn't like his deal in that? Vince has always been funny with guys doing movies and that sort of thing. But now he's back and getting a "push." Like, he's winning all his matches and has been a champion since WrestleMania. It's just...cold. Something feels odd about it. Like, TV main or not this week, The Bludgeon Brothers don't feel emphasized.

Maybe it's just a symptom of the company?

All the displeasure aside, the network is a steal in terms of value. Of course I like all the dumb ride along and table for 3 type shows too.

But for $10 I've never once felt like I was wasting my money.

Like...it stops WWE from being legit in my mind. As long as that Vince McMahon mentality is there, WWE is never going to be truly accepted into the mainstream. It's just way too carny and off-putting to general audiences. They will flop on FOX if Vince is there, because it is really fucking bad television and it deserves to be mocked like they so gleefully do with WCW.

That is eerily apt. It is becoming like the late stages of WCW. Like Millionares' Club vs. New Blood bad, where all the old guys clutching and clinging to their spot are the faces, and the potential future of the company guys are all heels. Oh, God... does this mean Vince Russo is about to replace Kurt Angle as RAW GM?

I disagree with one thing - it isn't carny. Carny would be better than this. At least with carny, there is the pretense of wrestling. This is bad television loosely disguised as wrestling. WWE is more interested in creating Hollywood stars and spin-off shows that it forgot how the guys who became Hollywood stars got popular enough to do so.

I never understood this.

He desires mainstream appeal, but he doesn't want his guys getting mainstream appeal UNLESS he has an active hand in it.

Ziggler was initally discouraged from doing his comedy thing and potenial acting on the side, but when it came time to do that one WWE cop movie (he wasn't bad, either... just... the movie itself wasn't great. Kane did rule as the police chief, though), they were all over that. He prob'ly could've found better roles on his own. Hell, he prob'ly did and had to turn them down because they weren't company approved.

My favorite heel turn of probably the last decade was Enzo Amore. Didn't change a thing about his character or promos just continued to act like himself and let the fans organically turn on him.


No one would dislike a Face vs Face match. Becky can just be super frustrated against Charlotte (and maybe show some heel tendencies? I dunno she was super over as a face on tuesday).

The new People's Champion, The Beck ended up being a ratings draw this week.

Coming off SummerSlam, last night's SmackDown averaged 2.437 million viewers, the show's best total since April 24 of this year.

This is absolutely insane though. Not surprising, haha, but insane.

This is like trying to turn Daniel Bryan heel against Roman Reigns. Maybe not to that extreme, but it's clearly an insane idea that is asking people to walk their emotions to their opposite conclusions. And their logic. The logic of the turn isn't the thing that offends me. I don't care if a heel is right or wrong in their actions. It can be all about how someone acts. But it's the emotional lack of sense that is just flabbergasting.

That being said, if this is used to make Becky the babyface and Charlotte is the entitled heel then this could sneak up on people brilliantly. But yeah, it's probably not good for Charlotte, who is who they want it to be good for.

In a weird sort of way, even though she's not a heel, think of Ronda Rousey like heel Triple H in 2004/2005. Think of Charlotte as babyface Randy Orton. Becky Lynch is Batista. That's the only way that this is going to work out good for any of them. But they don't want that, and they know longer feel like they have to adapt their plans. So we'll see what this does to women's wrestling.

Hey, equality -- it's got the right to be as detested and rejected as the men's.

The thing is that it doesn't matter. At all. They can tell the stories they want and it doesn't make a difference. It literally comes down to Vince's whim and his goals.

He looks at Roman and he goes "THE BIG DOG" and will stop at nothing until Roman is everything he wants him to be. Same goes for Charlotte. Same goes for Becky. He doesn't like her that much, therefore she's now heel because she was never going to be a top face as she doesn't fit his image.
