I always loved Tajiri's matches. His actions, his mannerisms, his spots, even his leather pants designs. Tajiri was the man.

I was watching the first Smackdown from 2002 last night for some reason. Test was trying to chat up Torrie Wilson, but she told him that Tajiri was her boyfriend. I fell asleep a little after that, but I laughed pretty hard remembering that on-air relationship. Thanks for the memories, Tajiri!

Remember when Tajiri spat the Black Mist into the eyes of Nidia and left her blind, and then Jamie Noble started using her as a shield completely forgetting the fact that she wasn't deaf?

I came to Tajiri late, when he first showed up WWF. He was doing the slightly racist Japanese man servant thing, which I remember a lot of fans familiar with what he was like in ECW being extremely upset by. I also didn't get how being a goofball could hurt people and stop people from seeing them as complete heavyweight wrestlers. But man do I remember marking out when Tajiri had his first match against Crash Holly and just kicked the shit out of him.

He got WWF/E over, man. Crowds seemed to adore him. Everyone seemed to get excited when he was turned heel, but I think WWE audiences were always disappointed because they loved the guy so much. But it never felt like he got real traction in the company. A stream of Cruiserweight Titles (it was probably only two or three) and the occasional tag team run where he never felt like he completely blended because his act was so complete.

I remember he had a team with Eddie Guerrero while Chavo was out hurt or something. In retrospect, it would have probably been "better" had they kept that relationship strong and/or turned it into a rivalry. But I'd probably only appreciate that as much as I would now now.

Also, AMAZON WARLORD, despite being a repository of knowledge for all your shopping goods, is mistaken: The Japanese Buzzsaw has not retired.

I still want William Regal to bring in a bunch of veterans to be his stretching crew in NXT. Tajiri, Nick Dinsmore, Finlay and Lance Storm are the guys I have in mind. All former parnters/allies of Regal and guys that it would be nice to see revisited. They can earn paychecks and dispense some knowledge, and if they get over and fit the current culture could even segue into main roster stuff.
