He is clearly a heel now. Kevin Owens is a heel, and he joined the other heels in helping Braun beat up the Shield. Therefore Braun is a heel

Exactly. He said in no uncertain terms that he doesn't give a fuck if anybody likes what he did and will do from now on or not.
Turning on the fans is the ultimate heel thing to do. It's not rocket surgery.

Why would Braun turn on the fans? He literally tagged with a fan at Wrestlemania. He was universally loved.

Because Vince is using the same playbook done with Cena in regards to only caring about Reigns and not caring if the fans do the same or not. In his eyes, destroying Braun's overness is acceptable in order to make sure Reigns is the only top star allowed.
Next step is to have Reigns leech off anyone who is a crowd favorite for cheap cheers and once their overness is gone or weakened, move onto the next crowd favorite and repeat the process.

I posted that before reading Raw results and finding out they eliminated any ambiguity in Braun's status by having him team up with all the heels on the roster. Including Kevin Owens who he just tried to murder. My God.

Sory, D-man... I have to agree with fan here. Gotham included.
Hell, Revolution was written better, and I couldn't stand to stick with that show... it only had one likeable character, and he was disappeared in the first 10 minutes to drive the shitty protag to actually do plot stuff.
I daresay WWE has gone beyond even Heroes after the writers' strike. I feel like I'm following it in the increasingly vain hope that someone will come to their senses and it will become good again. The potential is there, because if it weren't, NXT wouldn't exist.

I always liken watching WWE to being what it must feel like to be in an abusive relationship. You want to leave, but you're always just all "but remember all the good times we had? They can still change!"

I would like to see nxt put in primetime. Definitive numbers to see if a wrestling show can draw on 2018. Im inclined to say it would be as successful as airing a rerun of jacked but i love to give it its shot and it catch fire. Its possible that ive just been conditioned to believe wrestling shows dont have mass appeal. I dunno.
RoH has had an excellent wrestling product and it hasnt grown. If anything its shrank. TNA when they first hit spike had a red hot product. Never grew past a bery low ceiling.
I do think there's a future for wrestling but i think its online via things like twitch and YouTube. And streaming services like njpw world...im just uncertain about how large that audience can become. Its a new world though.
I think the first person to accurately weild streaming in wrestling will see big success. There is a healthy portion of the audience thats unsatisfied (though the unsatisfied portion pretends the satisfied portion either doesnt exist or is invalid somehow.)
I think with everything streaming will (and has) made niches more viable and that speaks to wrestling well as fans are very diverse as to their tastes...there actually might be an angle somewhere in that.
A variety show for wrestling. Amalgam of styles. Or maybe a weekly product that features a diff style each week in a cycle. I dunno. Spitballing.
Alls im saying is the future could look very different from what weve had up to this point. TV took the workers out of the carnivals. Streaming might make smaller studio productions like wcw world wide was produced more viable. Been watching a promotion out of china utilizing this method. Product isnt anything special but there's a core concept there that works on a fundamental level.
Anyways. New ideas could make money if executed well.

Take a niche product that can be produced well but cheaply. Give it a global platform via streaming so the niche product is available easily for the entirety of said niche. Localize it where applicable.
Profit.

Kinda this, but thankfully because of YouTube, social media, and a place like TPWW, I can skip most of the grind.
I used to be actively pissed if I missed an episode of RAW... and that was about 20 years ago. Now, I only need the Cliff's Notes version of how actual wrestlers get shit on by the reality TV stars the company is trying to artificially build.
Plus, there's things happening outside of the WWE bubble. So, it's more like having that "remember the good times?" feeling while also quashing that with multiple booty calls elsewhere.

Say you were watching the NFL; your team vs some other team. Doesn't matter. What does matter is that, at halftime, one of the analysts at the desk goes on a tirade of Austin 3:16 proportions about how bad the officiating was in the first half of that game. Goes viral, all that. Now, the network sees that, somehow get a ratings bump from it, and decides they want more of that, and they're going to get it at the expense of airing the game.
Slowly, over years, that 3 hour slot alotted to showing said football game is now mostly dominated by commercials and that group of analysts sitting at the desk for nearly the whole time, and the only parts they show of the actual game you're supposed to be watching is the opening kickoff, a tackle where someone got injured, and *maybe* ten full minutes of the 3rd quarter.
Oh, and press confrences after the game. But not just with the players, no... include their wives! Now, give that guy's wife a spot on the roster as a defensive end, not because it makes sense to do so, but because she's hot. And show shots of her during that portion of the 3rd quarter if she's on the field or not. Give her her own show about how hard it is to be 105lb woman in a position designed for a guy at least 3x her size and a mom on the E! network. Have that guy who cut the viral promo keep pushing for folks to watch that show during the few minutes of game you actually get to see....
You pine for the days that they used to show the damn game. But that's just for the "hardcore" fans who need to actually seek it out. "Fat neckbeard virgins" are the only folks who go to the game in the stadium.

That's the rub. Nobody wants to think in terms of "in smaller scale". Everyone wants to be where WWE is now, forgetting that even WWE wasn't where WWE is now in the 80s. It was a rinky-dink promotion that made some moves with great effort, fuckery, timing, and a degree of luck spanning over three decades.

To be more specific, Vince doesn't have a need to take chances on his wrestling product. And throwing away an investment on a guy he sees as the guy in favor of who the fans see as the guy is a chance. Even if the other guy has more charisma and is more likable.
It is a continuation of Cena Uber Alles that wrecked Ryback.

I'm not a big fan of the guy, so I can see why they are spinning his wheels with him. I'm of two minds about Braun:
1. He's clearly not the guy. Sorry, but he isn't. He's not a good worker, he's got a goofy presentation and he's not as over as people say. You can't ride that to the bank. When he was getting pushed as the unstoppable babyface, ratings didn't exactly jump. Now you can't freak out over the ratings all the time -- sometimes you need to build a foundation and earn faith -- but when you're not planning someone as *the guy*, pushing them as such can be counterproductive. As far as finding a place for the guy, rubbing shoulders with the top guys and working as a face or heel depending on where the other guys are positioned makes sense to me. He's kind of like 1998/1999 Kane in that regard.
2. When you're desperate and looking for something -- creatively, not financially -- you might as well fucking try. I don't think he was as over as people were saying, but maybe you do go further with him and see if you can spark some embers as opposed to having a predetermined perspective on the guy's ultimate potential?
I get why people are frustrated by the "heel turn," but as a functional thing given their clear agenda as a promotion, I can actually understand it. WWE is just such a bland mess right now that I do figure that it is also a symptom of that. That being said, in an exciting and lively WWE, I don't think Braun is anywhere near as over as people projected onto him anyway. He's similar to 911 to me. Roar! What a guy. If they had stars, I don't think he garners anywhere near as interest as being "other" to the guys who also aren't over.
I think it's funny that people think they are gonna put the strap on Braun at Crown Jewel. No way Brock is losing to Braun 1v1. The original plan was probably something involving Roman pinning Braun. I'm thinking we're about to get another Lesnar title run.

I am 99.9% positive that the match won't have acwinner so they can have more time to figure out how to do it at Survivor Series. Their plans for the next 6 months just went down the toilet and whikevthey have a week and a half I don't think the belt on eithrr is in the plans

A Brock win wouldn't shock me. I just think they're going to go into autopilot though.
I love Braun. The problem with Braun is that he doesnt need the belt. Giving him the belt means he should squash everyone. That's how he's been built. So it makes little sense giving him the belt. It sucks, but thats how it's been booked for a year and a half with him. It does make whoever beats him look like a million bucks. So that could be one theory on giving him the strap.
