They are seriously asking about it on Twitter.
How come Nick Fury still has both eyes when Coulson is already around?
Lock Jaw
09-19-2018, 01:54 PM
Because he must have lost the eye after he met Coulson?
Thank you for a stupid answer but that's not what they said earlier.
Lock Jaw
09-19-2018, 01:56 PM
When did they say that?
I remember Fury talking about "trusting someone" and losing an eye because of it.... but that's all I remember......
Fuck if I remember when. Maybe I'm confusing with comics.
If he said he trusted someone and lost an eye because of it, I'm gonna assume it's gonna happen here, like you know, trusted someone who turned out to be a Skrull or something.

No shit, Sherlock.
What I meant he should have lost his eye earlier than that, but as I already mentioned, I might have been thinking comics.

Still dunno about Brie Larson. She has this soft girl next door look, and sweet voice. Pretty much the opposite of what I imagine when thinking of the character. In the comics, she exudes an air of strength and authority that I just do not get looking at Brie.
I get that they want a younger actress, as they probably have future plans for the character, but how awesome would Charlize Theron have been? Would have been perfect. Like Ryan Renolds as Deadpool perfect.

Yeah it probably should have been Theron. Or my personal pick, already Disney employee Jennifer Morrison (OuaT). She can do tough, soft, and funny. She's MCU ready.

I wasn't big on Scott Pilgrim. I liked whichever Culkin was in it as his acerbic gay roommate and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is one of the top working actresses who can play disinterested extremely well without coming off as cunty but Michael Cera is such a fuckwad in that film that I can't see me watching it again anytime soon. It's like 500 Days of Summer, you follow a knobhead through a disaster of his own creation. I don't want to spend 90 minutes with that douche.

Hmm...
The two trailers so far aren't really garnering the response MCU trailers tend to get. The last time people were this chill about an MCU movie was Thor 2; we're excited but not 'cancel everything on premier date' excited.
During the coming press tour it's extremely important Marvel Studios doesn't coast on Carol being a woman. Do not feed trolls and certainly do not insult fans. And absolutely avoid the word Feminism.

Also Once Upon A Time's Jennifer Morrison or Atomic Blonde Charlize Theron should have absolutely been top picks for Cpt Marvel. Particularly Morrison who already has an MCU vibe about her (can be serious, vunerable, or comedic at will).

Not sure what you are seeimg but there seems to be nothing but major excitement for Captain Marvel. If anything people are waiting to see the Avengers trailer but after last night people are pretty pumped.

There's excitement, sure, but no 'breaking the internet' where you can't click or scroll anywhere without seeing people talk about the movie. And I'm not just comparing this with the Infinity War trailer last year which was a fuckin holiday. The buzz between this and Black Panther or Ragnarok is seperated by more than a few degrees. It probably hurt Cpt Marvel to be preceding Avengers 4 - people are talking about that when all the buzz should be about Carol. It's a unique marketing issue Marvel Studios will have to contend with since they went three showings a year.
They have to space things out so their movies aren't competing against each other.

Black Panther wasn't perfect and it certainly didn't get 100% positive reviews. Captain Marvel won't either. How that criticism is written might tread lightly. But critics aren't going to give the film a positive review if they didn't like it.
Some of these critics on twitter that have been allowed to see the movie and make a social media post, our legit critics. They're not people getting paid to watch this movie. The theory is that they are getting to watch this movie and the studio has a lot of confidence in there movie so they dont mind that they post about it on social media.

I enjoyed it. Wouldn’t rate it with some of the higher quality marvel movies, but it was well above the worst. Middle of the road. Agree that the second half is better, but I didn’t dislike the first.
Brie does come off as a bit cold at times, but she’s supposed to be a soldier, so expect her to be stoic to some degree. She still shows some fun personality. I voiced my worries that Larson is too “girl next door” to be believable as Carol Danvers, but she ended up being stronger in the role that I had anticipated. They actually did a good job capturing the spirit of the character.
Only criticism
Once Carol powers up the tension goes out the window. The movie never establishes an antagonist that is even remotely capable of going toe to toe with her.

This exactly.
They mary sued her like noone else in this movie. At no time did I ever feel like there was a way that she wouldnt win. The last 20 minutes was basically playing any video game with invincibility on. This was alright. Brie is really not an 'MCU' type actor, but to be fair it's in the way that Dr Strange doesn't do to well selling a joke.
I would not quite right her off as a Mary Sue, though she does have elements of how women are written now. Unlike a certain girl from Jakku, Carol is a trained soldier so whatever combat ability before she goes super sayijin is kinda justified. And after the fact she does show she's giddy about all that power; that super powered splash on that kree ship was cute.

They did explain in Last Jedi that killing his father mentally broke him, instead of being the intended completion of his training, and that's why he lost to an amateur.
Most of Rey's ability can be attributed to surviving on her own on a harsh, combative world. Luke said that her and Kylo both have unatrually strong affinity for the force, and I'm guessing we'll learn more about that in the final film. Wouldn't be surprised if she was actually a skywalker, and the "your parent's were no one" was only true "from a certain point of view".
So yeah, never really bought into Rey as a Mary Sue. Plenty of other problems with the movies though.

Luke and Anakin Skywalker, the latter a Force freak of nature, lost their first big lightsaber duels. Maybe Vader gets a pass and Dokuu is just that good, but the narrative precedent appears to be that one doesn't become badass even after some formal training in the Jedi arts.
I don't care how emo Kylo is or what type of shot he got from Chewie's gun - a formally trained Jedi/Sith is not losing to a 'school of hard knocks' type person. That's asking a lot.

That's asking a lot.
and that's the bottom line cuz some virgin wearing cum-stained sweatpants said so!
