Still like it. Def not inspired by it as much anymore though. They do have an episode or two these last few seasons that gets it. I'll keep watching.

Think the most recent few seasons have been some of their best tbh

Didn't have a cable package for a lot of years that had CC but not ever going to try to binge it all. I do enjoy watching the occasional episode here and there still.

Vintage South Park and will be interesting if there are any minor repercussions.

I have just picked up season 19 and 20 for cheap. I think the last season I saw was season 13. I'll probably get more of them if it's still funny.

Another episode that was "fine." Had it's moments. They've already covered Father Mackey addressing the child sex / Catholic Church thing years back though so this didn't really add much. It was like them doing an episode about Pokemon Go when one of their all-time classics was already the "Chimpokomon" episode.

I think they would have ended the show years ago but CC just keeps throwing gobs of money their way to keep going so they might as well.

Destor

They talk about whats fresh in the news. If it stays topical it will keep coming up. *shrug*

Frank Drebin
10-04-2018, 11:25 AM
I think just like any creative, they've pretty much said everything they've wanted to say. Not sure how to put how I feel into context but I'll try.

It was like, they would talk about fairly complex issues but would give you their take on it which always seemed to stick the landing of an episode. When they had an episode about at what age it was ok for kids to have sex because they mostly understood the implications and consequences of it, everyone went back and forth during the episode just like talking heads debating on TV would have. Then they arrive at a conclusion and Chef is just like "What age is it ok? 17." And that was it....and it made sense. Funny but it hit home.

There are lots of other examples. The religion/marklar episode comes to mind as a brilliant way to talk about how people feel about religion. Yeah, they hit you over the head with it with a speech at the end (for which they have mocked themselves) but it gave you a sense of closure to the topic and somehow a better understanding of it.

It's not as much of a drop as the Simpsons (Homer getting hit in the head with things/ Homer falling through things) but it definitely has lost that edge that really completed things for me. Very rare nowadays are the arcs or episodes of brilliance like Imagination Land. I'll keep watching because like wrestling, when it's good it's fucking great, but I'm not expecting that on any given week.

I just dont have a standard that every episode needs to be a timeless classic.

Cripple Fight, Scott Tenorman Must Die and Le Petit Tourette were loaded with jokess. I laughed until I was nearly sick.
I also love any Butters-centric episodes.

Not saying they have to be. They're never going to be at the peak of their powers again, but something that reminds me of those times is all I want. Little sparks here and there but very fleeting nowadays.

I dunno season 20 or 21 when the first switched to the serial format and garrison's bid for the presidency are easily some of the shows very highest points imo.

I think they would have ended the show years ago but CC just keeps throwing gobs of money their way to keep going so they might as well.

They did have plans to end the series somewhere around Season 18-20 since their Broadway show was making them more money than Comedy Central was paying.

Its the main reason why they cut back on the amount of episodes made per year and dropping the 2 seasons per year format.

Picked up season 11,12,14&15 for £18. Not bad. I also had to buy Season 13 again as part of the box set.

I had to.

I havent watched much South Park in the last 5 years, but i'm watching the episode where the Asians are painting Craig and Tweek gay. I'm laughing so fucking hard.

" Ok, now we're getting somewhere. Now Craig, what would you say if you wanted to take a gander at Tweek's asshole? "
