WARNING: THIS THREAD CONTAINS UP TO DATE RESULTS OF NJPW (INCLUDING WRESTLE KINGDOM!!!), IF YOU FOLLOW NEW JAPAN AND ARE NOT "UP TO DATE" THIS THREAD SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A "SPOILER". A SPOILER IS NOT NICE. I REMEMBER WHEN A FRIEND CASUALLY SPOILED THE END OF LA NOIR AND I DIDNT REALLY CARE BUT I PRETENDED I DID CARE BECAUSE IT WAS MORE AMUSING THAN SHRUGGING IT OFF BUT IF YOU DO CARE GO AND WATCH IT BEFORE YOU GO DOWN THIS RABBIT HOLE.

Rules:

Everybody selects TWO wrestlers from the NJPW roster, no duplicates allowed. You can select ONE wrestler from the “Core Roster” (who are more likely to appear frequently) and ONE wrestler from the “Regular Roster” (who could also show up frequently, or not at all / will show up on a regular basis but is a low card act). If the contest hasn't yet started, you can change your selection once by making a new post saying you're changing your selection (don't just edit your original post).
Your wrestler is eliminated if he or she submits or is pinned during a match at a televised (aka it's on New Japan World) NJPW event. Disqualifications, count outs, or being eliminated from a battle royale does not cause elimination. In multi-man matches (tag, triple threat, etc.), only the person who is pinned or submits is out. ROH does not count and ROH “exclusive” wrestlers (ie. Not NJPW regulars) are probably bad picks. ROH / CMLL crossover events DO count, provided they are promoted with the New Japan branding.
In the event of a match finishing via KNOCKOUT, the Small Council of Elders have met and come to the majority decision that a KNOCKOUT will count as an ELIMINATION. This will effectively be a slight nerf to the character Hiroshi Tanahashi.
In a slight change to WWE flavour Survivor, your wrestler will also be eliminated if he or she goes SIX weeks without having a televised match in a NJPW ring for any reason whatsoever (injury, marital affair, seduced by Vince, Yoshi Tatsu'd, etc.). There is a constant countdown going on from your wrestler's last match, so even if bad luck happens - you can still potentially win as long as everyone else loses in that span. In the event of two or more competitors being eliminated on the same day due to this rule and that impacting on podium positions (rank 1-3), the wrestler positions will be determined by time of last performance (meaning main eventing is more valuable than opening). In addition, the six week ruling will occur at the end of a show if one is running concurrent to the cut off date, meaning anyone who loses on the show will place lower than whoever gets six week'd. If you suffer a ban for the length of the game you will be disqualified.
If you win you get your choice of either first picks next season or double picks for the next season. If you take the option of double picks, you must wait until at least EIGHT other people have selected in order to prevent you from becoming The Skippord. If you are inactive upon winning to the creation of the next season, you will not get first pick and instead get double picks. In accordance with previous versions of this rule, new seasons will only be created after a minimum wait period of two days.
A wrestler must be an active participant in a match for it to reset the six-week timer. Lumberjacks, special referees, managers, "enforcers," guest commentators, etc. do NOT count... but there will be less of this shit here anyway.

Sign-ups are allowed until the start of the the 17th November 2018 edition of NJPW WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2018 at the start of show, in the beginning of this night / morning, right then, on Saturday, November 17, on this day, eliminations will be eliminated, starting on this show, on the New Japan World, in the genesis of Yoshi Tatsu.

Winning wrestlers must sit out 3 seasons before returning. For co-winning Season 1 via double count out Yuji Nagata & Hiroyoshi Tenzan are both ineligible. For winning Season 2, "BONE(R) SOLDIER" Taiji Ishimori is ineligble.

For winning Season 2, Lock Jaw has pulled out his BONE SOLDIER and pre-selected Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomoaki Honma.

We will be joining the action at WORLD TAG LEAGUE 2018 if that wasn't already obvious, which is a WORLD TAG LEAGUE FOR TAG TEAMS. As New Japan has a clear hierarchy, a lot of the tag teams are likely to have one guy designated to eat all of those delicious pins. To give yourself the best shot at this season, don't pick those guys. If you have no idea who those guys are, or even who is in a tag team in the first place, take a lucky guess. I believe in you. Teams are yet to be confirmed but expect such teams as:

Guerillas of Destiny
Best Friends
Killer Elite Squad
Suzuki-Gunblade
2 Cool Los Ingobernables De Japon Spooky Boyz
Great Bash Heel
Juice Robinson & Friend
Tencozy
Some guys from CHAOS probably Ishii & Yano, maybe Yoshi-Hashi if he's stopped bleeding
Ring of Honor
Jobbers who aren't in Bullet Club anymore
Not the Young Bucks

I will be participating in the game, but in the interest of fairness, I won't make my pick until at least ten pairs of wrestlers have been chosen. Good luck, namaste.

Teams have been revealed:

Great, Bash Henare (Togi Makabe & Toa Henare)
Tencozy (Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan)
New Japan Dads (Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi)
Young Lions + (Shota Umino & Ayato Yoshida)
Taguchi Japan (Juice Robinson & David Finlay)
Smells Like Teen Piss (Michael Elgin & Jeff Cobb)
CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano)
Best Friends (Beretta & Chuck Taylor)

Suzuki-Gunfist (Minoru Suzuki & Takashi Iizuka)
Filler Elite Squad (Davey Jr PowerBoy Hart Jr Smith Jr & Lance Archer)
Pad Tai (Zack Sabre Jr & Taichi)
Spooky Cool Hunks (EVIL & SANADA)

Also on the tour: Okada, Naito, Goto, Ibushi, SHO & YOH, Rocky, Shingo & Bushi, KUSHIDA, Gedo, Fale, Knife Pervert, Honma, Kanemaru, Desperado, rest of the Young Lions.

Tanahashi also joins the tour for the later dates, tagging with Okada

Any guys who aren't on the tour would have to appear either for a one off at the final show or the two Road to Tokyo Dome shows just before Christmas, so don't bank on the rest of The Elite showing up this season. Even Kenny Omega is a risky pick tbh.

Satoshi Kojima

I dont know if any of these guys are good. I just tried to pick the most Japan sounding Japan guys i can find.

Ultra Mantis
11-08-2018, 07:54 PM
Ibushi is main event level, usually loses big matches but he wont be having any of those until at least April. Kojima is one of the old guys (they call them the New Japan Dads) but he's the most mobile of all the Dads. Unlike in WWE the old guys are low on the card, they usually wrestle the young lions (trainees) so they don't usually get pinned that often. His tag partner (and winner of the first season) Tenzan is actually probably the one who will be getting pinned in this league but his team will be taking a lot of Ls.

The November / December shows are a tag team tournament, round robin style so all of those teams will be facing each other.

I purposely took juniors figuring they might just work multi-man matches and therefore have a lower chance of getting pinned. KUSHIDA I know is definitely getting booked. Not sure on Kanemaru.

That being said, both of my picks could easily be bounced at Wrestle Kingdom anyway.

Kanemaru is booked for the multi mans to build the Jr Tag Title match. Almost chose Shingo but I don't know if they will go all in him yet since he's not a dojo boy. Actually wanted to pick my boy SANADA but it's always a toss up between him and EVIL on who is going to be pushed harder on a tour by tour basis.

Top guys Okada and Naito still up for grabs too surprisingly.

Okada and Naito are both such strong contenders to survive this season, both could make it all the way to the G1 provided they don't have either of them lose at WK.

Jordan X, Nicky Fives, DaveWadding, teamXtremist, "Goto's Only" Arrogance and Expired Meatball are the posters missing from last season. What's up guys? Make a pick. Don't TNA poor little Kazu like this.

No real surprises so far other than Elgin taking a fall instead of Cobb, or maybe KES agree with War Raiders when it comes to Michael Elgin. Yujiro pinning Chuck is also a huge upset, mainly because I had Chuck as my yellow.

Yeah he usually works the undercard tag matches, he's just not booked on this tour since he was part of the Junior Heavyweight Tag League, which finished just before this one started. He will probably be back for the Tokyo Dome shows.

Final two cards of the year have been revealed:

Road to TOKYO DOME
Friday 14th December

KUSHIDA / Tiger Mask / Liger / Honma vs Young Lions (Yoshida / Narita / Uemura) & Henare
Shota Umino vs Shingo Takagi
CHAOS (Goto / Rocky) vs Suzuki-Gunfist (Suzuki / Iizuka)
CHAOS (SHO / YOH / Ishii) vs Suzuki-Gun (Taichi / Despy / Kanemaru)
Los Ingobernables de Japon (Naito / EVIL / SANADA / Bushi) vs Bullet Club (BONER / Tonga / Loa / Fale)

TOTAL CHAOS (Tanahashi / Makabe / Yano / Ospreay) vs The Elite (Omega / Ibushi / Yujiro / Chase)

Road to TOKYO DOME
Saturday 15th December

Young Lion Kanemitsu's Miraculous Comeback Match (lol but he's jobbing) Ren Narita & Teruaki Kanemitsu vs Shota Umino & Ayato Yoshida

Spooky Cool Hunks (EVIL & SANADA) vs BULLITE CLUB!? (Yujiro & Chase Owens)

TOTAL CHAOS (Okada / Yano / KUSHIDA / Makabe / Honma) vs Bullet Club (Fale / Tonga / Loa / BONER / Gedo)
TOTAL CHAOS (Tanahashi & Ospreay) vs Golden Lovers (Omega & Ibushi)

The big plot points here are that CHAOS and the unaffiliated babyfaces continue to team together too fight both Bullet Club factions, the biggest deal is that Makabe has joined in and is teaming with Toru Yano. Yano brutally betrayed Makabe and gutted his stable (GBH) to originally form CHAOS with Shinsuke Nakamura, only Honma remained loyal to Makabe and the pair have hated CHAOS ever since it's inception. Obvious signs point to a Six Man tag title run for Makabe, Honma and Yano with a potential Henare heel turn in the works. Swerves could come from anywhere though on this one.

Also Okada gets his hands on Gedo with no Knife Pervert in sight. RIP Gedo.

Tiger Mask & Liger are the only "new" names to appear, so Sixx should be pleased. Sadly no Chris Sabin.

Suzuki is a super heel, he is a former MMA guy (founded Pancrase actually and legit beat young Ken Shamrock) who is pretty much a sadistic mob boss with a bunch of goons under his command. Likes torturing people and beating up the young boys for fun. His stable is usually always on the tours because they are the undercard heels.

He had a Devil fruit from One Piece shaved into his head because he is a huge One Piece nerd in real life and I guess everyone is too scared of him to tell him otherwise. He lost a hair vs hair match last year though and now he just has random lines shaved out.

Rich Swann has copied his hairstyle for some reason and actually just looks hilarious.

Shows are done for the rest of the year now so we have reached the timed elimination cut off date. As a result we are down to the top ten (of 13 :shifty:). Adamle, Sixx and Jordan X are the only players with both guys still in. Some big names WILL be eliminated at Wrestle Kingdom, smaller names probably safe for now. Maybe.

Updated for WK.

We are down to the top ten, with seven players still in the game. Sixx, adamle and Jordan X have both wrestlers still alive as we enter the uncharted territory of New Years Dash tomorrow.

Potential danger for Makabe as a betrayal from either Yano or Henare seems imminent. Tananashi is also going to be a target for his next challenger, as is Juice Robinson. Is Zack Sabre Jr going to make a move and attempt to usurp Suzuki? Where does Knife Pervert get his next high risk thrill? Find out for free on New Japan world!

Thanks Gedo.

Everyone else is safe for now, HOWEVER, Marty Scurll is now factionless since The Elite have disbanded so he appears to on borrowed time.

A couple of head to heads coming up as Beretta / Juice and Knife Pervert / Tanahashi are new feuds. Of course anyone could miss the next tour and get timed out so I will post the cards when they become available.

From 11th - 21st January, New Japan are running their annual tour with CMLL "Fantastica Mania". Not as many actual New Japan wrestlers are on the shows

Only guys on the tour still in the game are Liger and NPC Shingo Takagi.

However, there is a special match on the 21st featuring Hiroshi Tanahashi to promote his movie "My Dad Is A Heel Wrestler" where he will be performing as Gokiburi Mask (Cockroach Mask) alongside Taguchi as Ginbae Mask (Fly Mask) to take on the wonderfully named babyface team of SweetGorilla Maruyama (Makabe) and Dragon George (Okada). Will he get pinned? Absolutely not.

Road to New Beginning starts on 26th Jan and the first leg runs to 30th Jan, no cards announced yet. On 30th Jan and 1st Feb are two US specials, cards not announced, but whoever is working these dates are not going to be on the first leg of the tour or the first two main cards, which are...

Another date has also been added to US leg of the tour on 2nd Feb due to the first two dates selling out. Looking at the roster available it looks like these matches are likely:

US Title Juice vs Beretta
Ultimate Deathmatch Chuck vs Finlay
ROH TV Title Cobb vs Goto
Ishii vs Nagata
Roppongi 3k vs KES

Also unaccounted for:
Liger, Tiger Mask, Kojima, Rocky Romero, Marty Scurll, Iizuka, TAKA Michinoku.

Pretty thin touring roster really so I'd expect ROH based support too from the likes of Sabin, ACH, Flop Gordo, Jay Lethal, maybe PCO, Bandido, Dalton Castle, Briscoes, did I miss anyone of note? I don't know.

If Kenny hasn't actually left (even if he is actually going to leave, his contract is rumoured to last until the end of the month) then there could be some Golden Lovers appearances, but that's a total shot in the dark.

Cards for the US New Beginning shows were released today, and well, uh, they are not good.

Due to the US Government Lockdown, New Japan were unable to secure visas for any of their talent. That means Goto, Ishii, Nagata, SHO & YOH, Liger, Tiger & Kojima are not going to be there. Ibushi was never booked.

On top of that, Sabin & Flip Gordon are both injured, ACH has apparently signed with WWE and is finishing his dates, Ospreay is currently touring with the truly abysmal WOS, Omega and The Elite were likely supposed to be a big part of it but have all left for AEW.

So that leaves the only New Japan regulars as Juice Robinson, Beretta, Chuck Taylor, David Finlay and Rocky Romero. Semi-regular Marty Scurll is also there, but without a faction to rep and no other Jr Heavyweights available he's just being used as card filler. Probably doesn't help that he will likely be gone before Best of the Super Jrs.

California Dojo Young Lions and ROH midcarders are pretty much the entire undercard.

Night 1 is headlined by Chuck Taylor vs David Finlay, Night 2 is US title match between Beretta & Juice Robinson, while Night 3 sees Best Roppongi Friends take on Juice Robinson, Finlay and some other dude. They are a faction in ROH apparently. If you're a fan of Best Friends doing the job to Juice and, unfortunately, Finlay you're in for a treat because there are three in a row right here. Yikes.

Evil Vito
01-24-2019, 11:45 AM
Apparently they applied for the visas back in November and still didn't have sufficient time to get them before the shutdown.

When you consider that there are already hundreds of people backlogged in getting their visas and that'll only get worse the longer this goes, and there being no end to the shutdown in sight...….I think the G1 Supercard at MSG is in serious jeopardy along with the DDT and Stardom shows that weekend.

Oh yeah I forgot, Cobb is there too working filler. He was meant to face Goto but this is the second time their TV title match has been nixed, last time Cobb had his flight cancelled.

Also I forgot KES are still working the shows, they were meant to face SHO and YOH but now they are against Marty and his friend, Davey is working a singles... Haven't these poor fans suffered enough?

In another shocking twist, the US shows do not appear to be part of New Japan World, therefore they are not cannon. Beretta and Chuckie T are apparently done after this weekend. Scurll and Juice will not refresh their timer and look to be in borrowed time.

However the Japanese show on 30th Jan WAS added to New Japan World and SHOCKINGLY the BONER SOLDIER tapped out to famous arse wrestler "Funky Weapon" Rysuke Taguchi.

Also there was a multi-man elimination match on Jan 28th featuring Suzuki, Sabre, Shingo and Desperado. Somehow none of them were pinned or submitted. What a wild ride.

Tanahashi, Zack Sabre Jr and Suzuki all took losses over the past two days blowing this all wide open. So this leaves us with a potential end game as the New Beginning tour wraps up, here's what we know:

Two shows left on 9th and 11th of Feb.

Marty Scurll (Jordan X) WILL be 6 week'd on 15th February.
Juice Robinson (Jordan X) and Beretta (Simple Fan) WILL be 6 week'd on 16th February. They both last wrestled AGAINST each other, though Jordan would get the advantage for Marty placing higher Tama Tonga. That means Simple Fan cannot win, but he can repeat the first season tie if everyone else gets eliminated on these shows.

This leaves three other wrestlers still in active competition: Bad Luck Fale (Gertner), Knife Pervert (mike adamle) and Jushin Liger (Sixx).

Fale and White both have rather massive obstacles to overcome, first the elimination match (where as protected acts they SHOULD be safe from a pin or submission elimination, but you never know) and then singles matches against Okada and Tanahashi respectively, but it's anyone's guess who is coming out of here alive.

Meanwhile, all Liger has to do is not get pinned in a six man tag against Suzuki and his two most pinnable goons, TAKA Michinoku and Takashi Iizuka. While Liger is arguably the most pinnable guy on his own team, Tenzan and especially Kojima are not averse to eating pins like they were made of freshly baked bread. Iizuka also has a knack for getting disqualified. This one could go absolutely anywhere.

That goddamn Knife Pervert just had to go and win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, meaning the game is not over yet!

Unfortunately for Sixx, in a dramatic twist, The BONER Soldier has chosen our only other Survivor, Jushin Liger, to be the next challenger for his Jr Heavyweight Championship and that match will likely take place at the Anniversary Show on 6th March. Does Gedo have any more tricks up his sleeve, or is Knife Pervert simply waiting to be crowned our new champion?

Updates will be made as soon as they are available.

Cards for the rest of the month are out, here's what to watch out for.

21st NEW JAPAN ROAD

Uemura / Liger vs Bullet Club (BONER SOLDIER / Robbie Eagles)
Roppongi 3k vs Suzuki-Gun (Despy / Kanemaru)
CRAZY BALDY RETIREMENT MATCH Suzuki-Gun (Iizuka / Suzuki / Taichi) vs TOTAL CHAOS (Tenzan / Yano / Okada)

22nd HONOR RISING: JAPAN

Liger / Jonathan Gresham vs Bullet Club (BONER SOLDIER / Robbie Eagles)
NEVER Openweight title Will Ospreay vs Dalton Castle
ROH TV Title Jeff Cobb vs Hirooki Goto

23rd HONOR RISING: JAPAN

LIJ (Shingo / Naito) vs The Kingdom (Vinny Marscapone / Shitty Matt Taven)
Heavyweight Tag Titles Spooky Cool Hunks (EVIL / SANADA) vs GOD (Tama Tonga / Tanga Loa)

No Knife Pervert for a while, it's all up to Liger now. Televised March shows will take place on:

6th - Anniversary Show
8th - New Japan Cup
9th - New Japan Cup
10th - New Japan Cup
11th - New Japan Cup
13th - New Japan Cup
14th - New Japan Cup
16th - New Japan Cup
17th - New Japan Cup
20th - New Japan Cup
21th - New Japan Cup
23th - New Japan Cup
24th - New Japan Cup

No cards yet. If White doesn't show up on any of these shows he would be eliminated on the 25th, however Liger will probably be having his match with BONER SOLDIER on the 6th so it could be all over by then. Really good chance Shingo and El Desperado survive as NPCs.

Liger / BONER is confirmed for the Anniversary Show. 6th March could be the seasons end, meaning the next season would start mid New Japan Cup, probably the 13th for what is likely the beginning of round 2. Of course Gedo could be reading this and laughing because he will be putting the belt on Liger just to fuck with us.

Or Liger could lose before then (but that's unlikely).

New Japan Cup participants have been announced, 32 entrants this year. First round matches are as follows

8/3
Manabu Nakanishi vs "Loose Explosion" YOSHI-HASHI
Tamoaki Honma vs Taichi
Juice Robinson vs "WWE Crown Jewel" Chase Owens
TOUGH BOYS MATCH Yuji Nagata vs Tomohiro Ishii

9/3
Mikey Nicholls (aka Nick Miller from New Girl / NXT) vs Hikuleo
Toa Henare vs Lance Archer
Will Ospreay vs Bad Luck Fale
Kazuchika Okada vs "Mr. POS" Michael Elgin

10/3
Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs <strike>David Finlay</strike> Ryusuke Taguchi
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Shota Umino
EVIL vs Zack Sabre Jr
HOLY FUCKING SHIT Kota Ibushi vs Tetsuya Naito

11/3
Togi Makabe vs Colt Cabana
HILARIOUS RIB ON DAVEY BOY JR WHO HATES YANO MATCHES (aka this is gonna suck) Toru Yano vs PowerBoy Smith Jr
BADASS DAD GRUDGE MATCH Satoshi Kojima vs Minoru Suzuki
MOST LIKELY TO LOSE IN THE FINAL SANADA vs Hirooki Goto

Remember, if (when) Liger loses we will only be jumping in at Round 2 on 13/3 for next season, so some of these guys might be safe for a while if they go out in the first round. Loser of Naito / Ibushi is going to be a contender.

Full disclosure, I have PM'd mike adamle about claiming his prize in the event Liger loses to Ishimori tomorrow. If he responds we could have a new season up after the show tomorrow, if not the two day window from now would put us this time on Thursday. He will probably respond though. I BELIEVE.
