Feels like they're pretty much phoning it in for the HOF this year which is kinda odd since getting The Rock or someone is a good counter to G1 Supercard.

Suppose it’s one way to get Chyna into the HOF without the acknowledgment of her as a singles wrestler and what she did.

Evil Vito

With DX going in as a stable and The Hart Foundation going in as a tag team, that now means Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, and Jimmy Hart will all get a 2nd ring.

Why wouldn't the Hart Foundation STABLE go in instead of the tag team? (Bret & Anvil)

Evil Vito
02-18-2019, 10:30 AM
Cause that means Owen is in the HOF and Martha Hart will sue them into the stone age.

Triple H doesn't have one yet.

I don't like putting stables in because then it should be everybody that was in the stable. For example:

Jim Neidhart was in DX for a day.
Rick Rude was in DX.
Mike Tyson was in DX.

Those 3 would be getting their 2nd rings, assuming DX goes on after the Hart Foundation that night.

Hornswoggle was also in DX briefly.
Tori was in DX.

Obviously none of them will be included in the induction, but that doesn't change the fact they technically were in DX.

She needs to get over it. Owen was a major part of that group and by God he needs to be in the HoF. If he hadn't have died he probably could have been WWF or WWE champion at least once.

On Charles Wright...

I recently herd Bischoff say that they were going to sign Wright to a big money deal and he would've been the NWO's head of security, but they ended up getting in touch with Virgil who agreed to a much smaller deal so they went with him. I gotta say that if Charles Wright would have gone to WCW and been an NWO member that he could have possibly had a "bigger run" in a bigger spot. Even though Godfather was on ever WWF show for like 4 years, he could've been great in the NWO.

I thought Brutus was really cool when I was a kid. It took me like a full year to realize that he couldn't do shit in the ring though. Like, I just kept waiting for it. I'd rented or bought like every wrestling VHS in my county and was left feeling like "he must have some real classics out there somewhere!". I loved how he'd cut the hair of the jobbers after the match. And his tights reminded me of HBK who I was watching real time and was obsessed with.

I think by the time I saw WM9 I was like okay fuck that guy.

Brutus was one of those weird 80's gimmicks that was over even if he didn't win a lot. Back then though it didn't really matter.

In the 80s there were 3 levels of babyfaces.

Popular gimmick guys, who didn't really win but against jobbers but could sell merch, like Brutus or Koko.
Then there was a few guys who were gimmicks but also really good, who were there to get guys ready for Hogan, like Jake Roberts or Tito Santana.
Then there was Hogan.

He was one of the most over acts in the company from 87 till 91. That's what he accomplished.

It's easy to shit on the guy because of how over-the-top wrestlecrap he was in WCW. But what Gertman is saying is the truth. He headlined Summerslam, was the guy who ended Mr. Perfect's unbeaten streak, and was on his way to an IC Title reign (when it meant something) until his face got smashed.

Beyond those random highlights, he was also a tag champ on a classic team with Greg Valentine, had a cool gimmick with awesome gear.

And 87-91 was a hot period for the WWF. For him to be one of the hottest acts means something. To ignore that means you're not as "with it" as you think.

He also won in the main event of a SummerSlam with Hogan against Savage and Zeus. I’d call that a big match.

You can say he was just along for the ride with Hogan but teaming with Hogan in a main event in the 80’s isn’t exactly indicative of a jobber.

#1-norm-fan
04-02-2019, 10:50 PM
The only title he ever won was a tag title, which was before he was even "the barber".

By today’s standards when there’s 20 titles that change hands on a weekly basis and everyone gets a turn, never holding a title might mean you’re a jobber. In the 80’s, not so much,

Bad News Gertner
04-02-2019, 11:37 PM
I just went back and checked : between 1987 and 1990 Brutus was only pinned once in any of the Big 4 PPVs (Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series and Wrestlemania).

It happened at the 87 Survivor Series against HTM in a SS match.

Total jobber.

xrodmuc316
04-03-2019, 12:40 AM
Chill guys. Where did I ever say he was a jobber? All I said was he deserved to be in the Hall of Fame because in the 80's you could be a huge star without ever winning big feuds or titles, because it was all setup to build heels to feed to Hogan. Hence, the only title he won was a tag title before he became the barber, meaning the dude didn't need to win titles, he was super over regardless.

I put Brutus in the tier below Jake Roberts, I never said anybody not as good as Jake Roberts is a jobber. The only time I even used the word was saying Brutus beat jobbers because he wasn't cutting the hair of most other superstars.

I was defending him as a HOFer because he was a known star.

And yes, he was bigger than Koko, I'm not saying they are the same, they are just in the same tier for how they were used on the card. That is not saying it was a bad thing.

Ol Dirty Dastard
04-03-2019, 06:49 AM

4 names reportedly rumored for the Legacy Section are Wahoo McDaniel, Jim Barnett, Luna Vachon and Playboy Buddy Rose

Awesome list.

Lol It’s silly to have a “legacy” section. What makes Luna a legacy inductee instead of a regular inductee? Just makes it all needlessly more convoluted.

Yeah that makes no sense. Luna wrestled this century.

"The Legacy wing of the WWE Hall of Fame serves to honor the pre-television history of professional wrestling (or at least, the pre-modern era of professional wrestling), as a means both to pay tribute to the fact that the art form has been around and been extremely popular for well over 100 years, and to further legitimize the modern inductees that contemporary fans are familiar with."

Yep, that is Luna lol

The whole point of the Legacy Wing was that it honored people from before wrestling was on TV.

Now they’re just oversatursting it.

WTF? If Luna is a "legacy" inductee then so is Bruno, Warrior, Koko, basically at least half of the "regular" inductees. This company is so stupid it honestly deserves to go bankrupt, as does the McMahon family, not that it will happen or that I think it should, but FFS it's absolutely deserved.

I did read somewhere that there has not been a legacy inductee that is alive. Maybe they decided that is all that is needed, and they will no longer induct a deceased person unless they were part of a team and have a living member to give the speech.

Unless they can make money off indicting the deceased, then they will still do it.

Evil Vito
04-04-2019, 10:46 AM
It's gotta just be a new "rule" about deceased inductions. I honestly thought part of the Legacy Wing was they were putting in people they didn't have a ton of footage readily available for. And that obviously isn't the case with Luna.

Toss in that Gangrel would, presumably, happily accept on her behalf and it's just a really puzzling choice to not give her a full induction.

Man, I forgot about Gangrel kind of. Last I heard or saw anything about him he was still doing the blood in the chalice vampire gimmick on the indies years ago. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the HOF one day soon. He wasn't the greatest worker but he was pretty over due to his entrance and gimmick and is no less deserving than some of the other folks they've put in, so I wouldn't hate it.

Its also just a very lazy way to boost the legitimacy for their Hall since now its no longer just based on WWE and whichever companies they own the tape libraries for.

At least in regards to women's wrestling, it was always going to be very slim pickings for legitimate Hall of Fame caliber candidates due to WWE's historical poor handling of their women's division till very recently. They could have done Luna this year and save Torrie for next year if they actually cared about this year's class.
