He's not an awful talent, but he's not the next coming of Randy Orton like many make him out to be (these people do exist). He seems tight with Cody, and they go back to OVW together, so I can imagine he'll get an AEW gig.

I guess this is his birthday present to himself

Peyton Royce will start banging someone else so fast when he goes somewhere else if he ends up like Damien Sandow in TNA.

I don't know that AEW would be that interested in Tye tbh. He's not bad but he's not exactly great. He was in WWE developmental for like a decade so maybe he would be a good coach for them?

I think he and Cody have gone back and forth on Twitter or something? And they were OVW Southern Tag Team Champions together, which means nothing, but I get this feeling that Cody is the sort of guy who would blow smoke up him.

He did get good reviews for helping people behind the scenes. But he probably has the chance to do that at SmackDown and on house shows, but he doesn't seem satisfied.

It would be funny (in a sad way) if Tye got his release and thought AEW was going to be his big break, but they're like "Sorry, dude, we're not really that into guys who couldn't even crack the SmackDown mid-card" and he floated into obscurity.

He's a dispensable mid carder. They have too many guys on the roster as it is.

is he near his contract end anyway if not wwe would not release him.

Another complete waste of an NXT callup.

The guy was immensely over, and instead of building on it in any meaningful way, Vince and the writers had nothing for him other that "the guy that says 10".

He is the first guy I called when AEW was announced. Yes he isn't a great worker like Neville, but he is a solid hand and well liked.

Funny thing up so he asked/offered to go back to NXT full time, and WWE didn't want him to.

I get WWE not wanting to let people go with AEW coming up, but some guys are the exception, much like how they let Kenta have his release. I hope he does make his way to AEW.

WWE's hoarding so much talent at the moment. It's inevitable for some of them to be unsatisfied and ask for their release. Would it hurt to have a third brand?

A request and announcing it online. I think WWE will tell him to fuck off and freeze the contract if he doesn't wrestle.

Found it really telling for his WWE career that not even Smackdown could find stuff for him to do considering their serious lack of depth in the midcard. Once that happened, chances of him achieving any meaningful success on the main roster was close to zero.

To be fair, there’s a lot of talent on SmackDown that goes unused; Sanity being a prime example.

Dillinger feels like a “good tag guy” to me. They could have paired him with Breeze when Fandango went out injured (making way for Johnny Curtis to answer an open challenge and win the Universal Championship, of course).

Or put him together with Tino Sabatelli and Riddick Moss from NXT (they’re still employed, right?) in a little faction of good looking douchbag heels.

Or put him with EC3 when they inevitably screw him up beyond repair. Call them “Good Luck” play on the number 13 (10+3=13), bit of a play on the number being unlucky for some, and the fact that they look good.

That, but in TNA, in front of 20,000 people.

So, did he actually get released?

I thought everyone was stuck/trapped right now with AEW growing. I'd be shocked it Vince cut Tye loose.

So Tye celebrated his 38th birthday by:

-getting engaged to a really fucking hot 26 year old
-giving notice at a job he wasn't happy at

Never liked the guy but I think it was his character. Didn't really get him having a perfect 10 gimmick and also being a face but that's WWEs fault not his. Can't say I'd like you see him anywhere else but I feel like he'd have success in Japan similar to Juice.

there's a difference between actually being over and what tye dillinger was.

He was a heel in NXT initially but then the "Ten" chant caught on and he turned face organically. But the gimmick made little to no sense on the main roster aside from a debut at the #10 spot in the Rumble.

I feel like Juice is 10 (TEN!) times the wrestler Dilly is though, and 100 times the promo. Can't see him going through the dojo at 38 either so unless Nakamura really puts him over to Gedo or he signs with ROH, he doesn't seem like somebody they would bring in.

He's Cody's boy, if I had to make an assumption I'd imagine there would be a midcard meme spot for him at AEW.

I could see Tye doing well in ROH or MLW.

HHH: Vince, bad news. Ty Dillenger just asked for his release.

Vince : Who?

He’s just seen 4 more guys called up from NXT alongside the ones they still haven’t decided what they want to do with them, he’s slipping further from where wants to be. Can’t really blame him.

Is it really a surprise when we all knew it was going to happen?

We didn't know it was going to happen for sure. It was just a rumor, "bro".

I kinda think it's funny that he was one of the guys Dusty was all about when he was still alive, with that whole "...why is he still down here?" thing. How many years ago was that? Because like I said, Dusty was still alive and said he didn't have anything else to teach him and believed he was "ready".

He is a perfect example of a guy who hasn't done shit because he hasn't been presented as doing shit. We had a short-lived push for Mojo fucking Rawley, but this guy just shows up in Royal Rumble in the 10 spot two years in a row and pretty much sits in the back scratching his nuts by catering for the rest of the year.

He's just supposed to stay over forever because of the 10 chants? Where's his angles? Storylines? Triumph, failures, titles shots??? Nah, he's just another guy on the roster. Another person who wasted years he could have spent elsewhere potentially becoming a name who was probably promised the moon and stars and instead did jack shit but be filler in occasional backstage segments and even more occasional matches.

Good on him for leaving. WWE can't maintain this ecosystem they themselves are trying to build. It's like building a 40 gallon freshwater fish tank, taking care to cultivate the pH, species balance, and comfort, then after an arbitrary amount of time, taking some of the bigger freshwater fish and dumping them out in the dirty, salty ocean never to be seen or heard from again. And yes, that would kill most fish. That's the point.

If they were doing what they were supposed to be doing with NXT/WWE progression, we should have been seeing something like Shinsuke Nakamura defending the WWE title against Tye for the first time at Fastlane... coming out on the losing end, but looking like he belongs in the hunt. Instead, Nak is in the midcard and Tye is leaving to be replaced by another NXT callup who will be made to look like they're all interchangeable bodies when things are said and done.
