Playstation 1 And Other Retro Games Discussion Thread

So i bought a PS Classic for $36 and I've officially "modded" it. Best investment ever. I strongly consider grabbing one of these and doing the same. I got mine open box from Best Buy, but they're marked down unopened for $40.

I screwed up and ordered a 16gb USB drive instead of a 64gb hard drive. So i could not put all the games I wanted on it, but i ordered a 64gb and it should arrive in a few days so i'll get every game i want on it.

I used Autobleem which is hella easy. The USB drive i used is a Sandisk cruzer. Other USB drives might not work. I tried a generic stick i had and it didnt work. Sandisk Cruzer's work for sure. The 16gb Sandisc Cruzer cost $5.75 if you only want a few games.

So ya. 28 games is all i could fit. But once i get the new 64gb sandisk Cruzer, i'll have everything I wanted. Had to leave off a lot of RPG's because they take a ton of room. I left off a lot of great things, but they'll be on soon. Obviously i'm Shmup heavy too lol. Love my shmups.

Gonna start playing some shit. Keep you updated in this thread. Let me know what games you think should be on this.

I've tested Metal Slug X and Hot Shots Golf 2 and they work perfect. In the process of testing everything before i start playing. I have a ton more games i want to get put on this, but i need a bigger USB so probably next week i'm thinking. I dont want to list all of them. Too many.

There are a few bugaboo's. I havent figured out how to exit a game without getting up and hitting reset. I think there is a way with Autobleem, but Playstation didnt build a way in the PS Classic which is fucking retarded.

Also there are some games that dont automatically pull up the PS 1 jewel case of the game. Of the 28 games I put on this USB drive, only 1 had this issue and that was Castlevania.

Eventually i'm gonna load Retroarch on this and I can play SNES, NES , Sega and a few others. But again, I gotta wait for my bigger USB drive. 16gb dont cut it.

I got a ton of RPGs i'm gonna put on this thing, but with 16 gb's. I chose one and Xenogears seemed different. I'm also in the middle of FF7 so... I chose Xenogears and will wait on the others when i get a bigger USB drive.

I've heard nothing but amazing things on Einhander and i'm a shmup fan so i grabbed all of them.

I'll probably put Retroarch on this thing so i can play SNES and other systems. But right now i'm just testing out the PS1's.

You would think the company who releases these like Sony would just load as many games ont hem as possible, then they could jack the price up. instead its released with 20 games, 2 will be really good. 5 will be good-ish….then you got some crap that you don't remember but apparently its one of the 'classic games;'

This thing is awesome. My SNES and Sega files are a lot smaller so i just loaded about 60 more games between the 2. Every plays great so far. I cant wait to get a larger usb drive so i can put all the PS1 games i wanted to put on it. The only thing that is bugging me is that i have no idea how to leave a PS1 game without getting up and hitting reset. When i'm playing the SNES and Sega games from retroarch, it's easy. I just hit start and select at the same time. But that's not working with the PS1 games. And the PS1 games are in a different area than retroarch.

Aside from that though, this thing is great.

Its bad but the Fifth Element has a PSX game.

Also liked the Evil Dead game even though it wasn't great but still fun cause of Ash.

Just beat Mobile Light Force. Really decent shooter. More difficult than I expected but not as hard as Super R-Type.

Playing one right now called Trouble Shooter and i really like it. I got about 20 shmups from the system.
