WWE basically throwing in the towel on the post-Mania Raw and SmackDown since they're not gonna even try to set any new shit in motion until the Shake Up.
?
A lot of stuff happened on Raw and it was really good imo other than the incredibly dumb shit in the main event

If AEW manages to focus on a succinct product with logical storytelling and acts its fan base wants to see, and they get a good TV deal and people rather watch that than five hours of this. If the Saudi seal blows up in WWE’s face and investors pull support and WWE ends up flames in the media. If TV networks pull their financial backing because WWE isn’t viable. If all these invited things go wrong — the negative shitshow they are courting by being so out of touch in an industry that can move VERY quick — this could make a chapter on “The Death of WWE.” Like, do people appreciate just how much of a piss this company just took on them? This deserves mockery.

The only part of the show that actually interested me in the slightest was Sami's promo, which was fantastic.

I hope Dean does leave. I'd be interested in seeing a motivated Jon Moxley on the indies.
That said it's no lock he goes to the indies or AEW anytime soon. I believe he's similar to Punk in that he's been very careful with his money over the years. He could well take a long time off from wrestling and explore other things.

Meltz sounded pretty certain Ambrose isn’t keen on taking time off. He just wants creative outlets. I can understand why.

I’ll watch the Zayn promo, and I’m sure he delivered it well, but it sounds like it’s just bashing the fans for being critics? How about wrestling doesn’t suck?

Ambrose was the best promo guy on the indies so if he can get back to that I'm all for it.

Ambrose was a good promo guy in WWE until his initial fued with Seth ended, then they just had him be more and more goofy as time went on.

There was a time when Corbin had really short matches on NXT and everyone was okay with it.
Kinda. He was getting the Goldberg push, no doubt, but he was having squash matches to protect the fact that he was pretty ass. Any match that went on longer than thirty seconds exposed him, and he actually started losing the NXT crowd in a relatively short amount of time. It became clear he was a pet project like Roman Reigns or Eva Marie, and he was pretty much going to go over no matter how much people wanted to see it or not.

Wonder what merging would mean for US and IC title...
The same thing it meant last time they did it: jack and shit. And then they'll just have a tournament a few years later when they re-introduce whichever belt they "retired".
Merging belts doesn't solve a problem that shitty booking creates.

they should merge the tag titles..all of them. Intergender tag matches

I’m still in disbelief. Like, someone with power thought that would be a hot and interesting way to hook viewers. Amazing. I don’t know if it’ll ever register with me.
Fuck, why not just The Ascension run in? Or Sanity? Sure, they’re lower, but is a damp blanket that much better than a wet one?
Mr. Nerfect
04-09-2019, 01:23 AM
I’m trying to think of an analogy. I can’t come up with a direct one. Maybe if X-Factor took out Rock after Mania X-7 as the big angle? Actually, maybe Haku & Rikishi are more appropriate, as they kind of flirted with pushing Rikishi and Haku at different times.
Mr. Nerfect
04-09-2019, 01:24 AM
Or Show-Gunns. Big Show was a former champion and Billy Gunn was given odd things here and there.

Or Hogan and Triple H face off at Mania X-8, but Billy & Chuck interfere.
Damn, ale those results are stupid.
Shane defeatd The Miz? Kofi deafead THe Miz? Triple H defeated Batista?
Shane wins with everybody, this is irritating.

Shane did go over Miz but it wasn't a typical finish. More like The Miz kicked his ass and Shane was fortunate enough to land on top of him on a double KO move.
Kofi should have went over. He is too hot not to.
Of course HHH won. It was a retirement match. HHH ain't going anywhere and Batista has made clear this was his last rodeo.

Another show in a row that WWE had complaints involving them shining annoying bright lights into the crowd.

Sheamus has to be the second least over guy they’ve pushed so hard. Four World Titles, a King of the Ring, Money in the Bank, a Royal Rumble. He feels like a genuine mid-carder, yet he’s done about as much, on paper, as Shawn Michaels. Fewer actual main events.
Del Rio’s the only guy that could surpass him on that front.
Meanwhile, he's tagging with a guy they missed the boat with on multiple occasions.

The biggest fear is that, once again, WWE will learn the wrong lesson from that reaction. In this case, that somehow Kofi is undeserving instead of promising something huge they didn't intend on delivering. There was zero reason for it.
But hey, Sami's right. Fans just want to be critics. We have no right to watch consistently good stuff. Any ol' shit will do because fuck your viewers.
I was about to ask if there were any other form of entertainment where blatant contempt of your audience is acceptable business, but yeah, modern "live service" video games has WWE beat... but that's only because WWE is only one company.

It feels like the promo was actually intended to insult the audience and reflect backstage’s opinions on their own product. People seemed to like it, but hey, they all seem to watch.

Yeah man! Holy Shit Taker is my favorite too. He has nothing on Lock Jaw though.
How did the main-event come across on HULU, did they edit out all the bullshit/AEW/beachball chants after the bait & switch w/ The Bar?

I didn't catch any AEW chants but I did hear chants about a beach ball and they took Caesaro off camera for a bit so I guess that's when he ripped one up. They kept the bullshit chants.

To be fair, you are talking about today Sheamus.
His initial heel run was fantastic, and he felt like every bit of a main eventer. That was 2 world title reigns, both times winning the belt from John Cena.
After the great heel run, he got over naturally, they turned him face and rode the wave, which got him the Rumble victory and his 3rd world title.
After that long reign, he moved down the card.
He got injured, came back as the heel we know him as now. They have him MITB to try and elevate him back, but it didn't work.
Then he only got his 4th World Title as a way to further the Roman and Triple H fued. So yes he has 4 on paper, but one was a throw away reign.
He was done after that, league of nations was dumb, but did get a Mania win.
He settled nicely into a tag team with Ceaaro, or he would have been done 2 to 3 years ago.
Make no mistake though, he was a main eventer for a solid 3 years.
