Ronda Rousey announced on her YouTube channel she is potentially retired from wrestling and being in the public eye in general. She plans on having a baby at this time and will decide what's next, if anything, after that. She thanks all the fans for their support the last year.

I get why she's doing it and support her decision.....but damn. The timing is just coincidentally funny to me. It's just like UFC. She loses and then she runs away. lol I know that has nothing to do with it but it still looks that way.

I think she is extremely sensitive. You can probably attribute it to how big a head she must have gotten after being built up so much by the UFC and how quick her wins were at the beginning. To have that reality absolutely shattered and must have been devastating and she just didn’t take it well. It smashed her ego.

I think she was sailing high in WWE until she started to hear a few boos and read the criticism again. I think she just can’t handle that side of public life and fair play to her, she has made enough money that she doesn’t need to.

I highly doubt that anyone will ever have the first year in professional wrestling that she has had again, so she deserves massive credit imo

She was a natural in the ring right off the bat. Shame she might step away but she clearly never needed to do it and I'll give her credit for going on a helluva run.

Alsoreally poor booking decision to have her lose on a fucking rollup in the main event given she's not coming back any time soon. Ah well.

She prob just wants to have a baby.

Lots of people have babies. Story here is her purported desire to be out of the limelight. Having a baby is as good an excuse as ever to do that

he's mostly right. Just easy to make fun of somebody slightly on the spectrum.

To be fair a bit, she wanted to start her break last November but WWE gave her a title reign and kept promising her a big match at Mania as incentives to delay those plans as long as possible.

She pretty much left herself wide open to get mocked again to that poor timing for the break. Wouldn't be surprised if another round of mockery happens if she does end up retiring after having a baby.

He's about half right.

From what other people I chat w/ told me he doesn't have many sources in WWE these days, his main one was apparently Jericho. Ryan Satin's main one was one of the Bellas supposedly.

Good for her. The limelight isn't for everyone and others not for an extended period of time. She got to do a bucket list thing.

WWE was smart to pull the trigger on the women's WrestleMania main event.

I dunno. I find it hard to believe that was actually supposed to be the finish, especially the way Ronda reacted IMMEDIATELY after the 3 count. Either way, whether it was or not, she's got a legit gripe. If they did plan for that as the finish, then it was fucking retarded and she's rightly pissed. If not, the ref fucked up by not seeing her shoulder up before 3 and stopping the count at 2, and...yep, you guessed it: she's rightly pissed. Either way it seems like it was destined to be a literal lose-lose proposition outside the match and it's hard to blame her for being disillusioned with not only WWE but professional wrestling as a whole. It's a shame she might go out on such a bitter note, but if she does, good on her for not staying in a career where she's not happy. Most people are not afforded such a luxury.

Wasn't the plan always her leaving after Mania 35? I thought I remember hearing that.

I think she was planning more of an extended leave of absence rather than quitting WWE entirely or retiring.

She was supposed to leave before right? Then she got the belt and was promised to main event mania? Either way, they handled her really well imo. Even with the heel turn once she was put up against Becky. Rousey really worked. My only gripe will always be the finish to mania. She didn't need to tap out but the loss should've been more decisive.

That started to pop up a lot more once she won the belt and rumors of her vs. Charlotte and her vs. Becky at Mania started to heat up. Seems she didn't make the decision on when to actually leave until very close to Mania itself.

Before that, her schedule was originally rumored to possibly be Lesnar-like for appearances and her being unsure when she'd actually wanted to take her break. Only thing locked in was WWE wanted her around for both Mania 35 and Smackdown's debut on FOX.

Why wouldn't it be easy to make fun of the original internet nerd?
