What are the odds... (Vince)

Long post, please bare with me...

So I think we all can agree that Vince McMahon is a genius when it comes to professional wrestling. He took a small pro wrestling company and created a self sustaining multi media conglomerate. So I was watching Unforgiven 98 last night (first inferno match and Austin vs Dude Love) and I had a huge nostalgia trip. I remember being a kid, going to school on Monday and talking about the PPV, being so hyped about RAW that night, amazing time.
So what does all this have to do with Vince? So I thought about how we all talked about Vince getting the chair to the head the next day at school, so we're all talking about Vince. So I saw some random Fb "super secret insider unnamed source reported" that Vince is requesting all WWE employees give him access to all their social media. I go through the comments and all of them are like "Man, Fuck Vince/ what an insecure POS, WWE is BS, etc, etc"

So my question is this, Vince is a genius, he knows how to get people to talk about WWE and by extension has no problem with being the "lightning rod of hate" as long as he gets people talking about his company.... what are the odds that Vince is behind majority of these ridiculous "Vince rumors" we hear about that keep us talking about the WWE?

Hmm, not sure. I don’t really know how that monetizes anything. Unless he’s setting himself up to be a major heel irl so he can hand the company over to a babyface. But this is conspiracy theory stuff, like “Vince is deliberately trying to be bad to tank his own company.” I’ve legitimately heard that.

I think he’s just an eccentric billionaire who bet on himself and isn’t good at taking himself out of his own bubble, because he gets the confirmation bias of being right. Like, they’re in some messy situations as far as some metrics go, but they’re also about to become more financially viable than they’ve ever been. I wouldn’t count on that staying, but provided they get that TV money, Vince has taken WWE to bigger heights by the metric that matters to him.

Yeah, I don’t think the Vince rumors get anything more than eye roll from most people, so I doubt it.

Honestly, no one at this point takes Vince seriously. Even his "gimmick" is overused, and he and the company itself have routinely admitted how stupid and absurdly un-releastic it is. If you're buying it, either it's a work and you're an idiot, or it's not a work and you're an idiot.

Either way, the outcome is, you're an idiot and most people are idiots who aren't paying attention (let alone paying any $ to WWE), and those that are paying $ aren't enough to sustain the current standard long term. The crash is only a matter of time unless things change.

I'd argue low to none on Vince feeding fake rumors just for people to talk about WWE.

Trying to fool the dirtsheets and fans only opens himself up to investors losing even more confidence of Vince being able to fix WWE's woes considering they are starting to sour on his abilities to get WWE out of its current funk.

A lot of people, as they get older, tend to get meaner and more ridiculous. Especially when they're billionaire tycoons. Thus, the Vince stories.
