Its always been that way. Why people pay to watch tv tapings is beyond me.
Memphis used to do it right. Everything was there infront of the people so they were involved throughout.
Live audiences spend most of the night paying for a view of a tv thats worse than what they would got at home.
They choose this.
I’d argue it’s gotten so much worse this decade. I went to the vast majority of the Bridgeport TV tapings from 2005-2011 and not once did I feel like I got ripped off. The most “talk-heavy” TV taping I was at was Raw 15th anniversary show and even then nobody minded because it was laden with surprise appearances in front of the crowd.
Plenty of wrestling and nearly all of the talking was in-ring in front of the audience, barely anything on the tron.

Problem is with today's society and their low attention spans. Most people cannot go 5 minutes without looking at their phones.
Even when they do these short matches now, they don't have a purpose behind them. Not even squash matches have a purpose anymore becuase there is no payoff in the end.

Most WWE fans are trained to pop for the entrance and boo the shitty finish, and that's it. They are conditioned to not care about matches. Only the best workers can make a fan forget about whatever they want to chant and invest in the match.

They are doing a good job of conditioning lately that nothing matters and to not follow any stipulations/continuity.

Russo from like 94-99 isn't bad. I could do without Russo after that

If Droford was there he would've rushed the stage to try to powerbomb Izzy off the stage like Bubba Ray Dudley did to Mae Young
that wasnt Izzy, fake Izzy was cool
But did she get into the arena ahead of the crowd? That’s the important question.

I don’t know. I’m thinking back to those Russo Nitro days and... I actually think it’s more compelling TV than what WWE puts out nowadays.
This is a horrifying realization I’m coming to.

That's harsh.

It’s car crash clusterfuck TV where so much happens that nothing matters including the matches vs. Nothing TV where nothing happens so nothing matters including the matches.
I think I’m going car crash if faced with those two options.
Goddammit, I hope AEW works out.

If someone crossdressed in WWE today, it would instantly give them more personality than just about the entire roster.

Droford.
But it would be a hand me down when he bought it for himself first

Is Khali still hired by WWE?
If so, then you know it should be him.

I was actually just reminded of the great comedic relief of Santina Marella. I’d be down for The Great Galli dominating the women’s division though. Fuck it. Play it straight and take in the praise from LBGTQ activists everywhere.

I did not watch this RAW, and have not watched RAW in a few weeks.
That is all.

Weird place for this, but since it was on the show...
Does Dolph not remember that Big E debuted as HIS heavy? I definitely would have brought up that parallel. Missed opportunity.
Anyway, outside of Cesaro/Richochet, this was a pretty trash show.

rofl I was so busy pointing out that Big E and Xavier came way later for Kofi, that I completely forgot about Dolph and Big E. ThT makes it extra dumb.

Say what you like about Russo, but at least he tried things and tried to give everyone something to do. He needed a filter obviously, but no one can say he wasn’t creative.
Would def choose chaos and nonsensical stories over nothing at all
I guess I've learned to skip RAW now. If anything is worthwhile, it usually shows up on /r/SquaredCircle. Haven't even checked this week's highlights on their YouTube channel yet.

Russo was absolutely better.
It comes down to the simple fact that boring is worse than bad.

At least of someone hates something you know it takes emotion. Being apathetic is the worst death to give someone.

It's not society's fault, lol. Technology advances -- it's not a bad thing. That there are better options than WWE is still WWE's fault for not being able to compete with things that are hundreds of times more interesting.

Giving everyone something to do is not a good thing. You need to emphasize certain things, and Russo never understood that. I don't want to make the choice between Russo television and current television. I will just go "neither" and hit myself with a hammer instead.
