View Full Version : The origin of Bray Wyatts new gimmick- Inspiration or Stolen?
I think I've figured out where Bray Wyatt ( or WWE creative ) got the gimmick.
Here's a pic of Bray Wyatt as The Fiend on the Firefly Fun House

I came across a movie called Funhouse Massacre. There is a murderous character who was a former wrestler that was kicked out of wrestling because he kept killing people in the ring. He rips a guys face off who's wearing clown face paint and he wears it throughout the movie. Here's a pic of the character.

Tom Savini designed the mask and the props for Bray's gimmick. I've read nothing that says it was inspired by Funhouse Massacre and Tom Savini didnt work on Funhouse Massacre.
The mask looks almost exactly the same. I feel like they ripped off Funhouse Massacre.
What do you think?

He's admitted it was inspired a bit too by when The Joker cut off his face and wore it as a mask

I thought it was from those youtube videos "for kids" which end up being very creepy.

Regardless it hadn't been on TV in 3 weeks so it's probably been shelved

It's probably taken its inspiration from lots of different places. Ticks off a lot of horror themes and cliches.

I dunno, but I like it.
Doesnt seem like a coincidence that the name of that movie is Funhouse Massacre and the character is a former wrestler and the mask looks identical. Even the eye's swoosh up to the forehead.
I dunno. Not a big deal. I just watched the movie yesterday and it caught my attention.

I dunno, maybe I'm easily fooled, but I thought the last/most recent segment was meant to be the logical conclusion of the series, and then they'd just bide their time until whenever they decided it was right for him to return with whatever new gimmick.
The puppets have appeared multiple times the last 3 weeks.

I kinda felt this way too.

The puppets have appeared behind different people backstage ever since then, usually twice per show. They've popped up behind Miz and Kofi multiple times.

I thought it was Sweetooth from Twisted Metal.

I personally thought it was a play at making the killer clown "urban legend/fad" from a couple years ago into a gimmick.

Yeah, but only briefly, which is what leads me to believe there's no continuity with any of the sketches besides serving as a series of vignettes for his return under his new gimmick.
FTR, I'm firmly in the not a rip-off camp, but feel free to try to persuade me otherwise. :)

I honestly thought Bray and Jojo were sitting down watching Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood with their son Nash with a K at the beginning and Jojo thought:
"You know Bray, you should make that a gimmick. But with your own twist. And something we can have our son watch someday when he's older and say 'That's your Daddy!'"
And, for some strange reason, it became a hit.
