I will say Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time. Therefore, I can't wait. That said, the trailer was "fine". Seems like if you didn't already know about this IP than this probably didn't make you very interested in it.

When the Polish The Witcher came out the actor kept the wig and would go everywhere wearing it. He looked like an idiot.

You can't see much of the rubber dragon, that's a scene from the TV show they made out of the movie. But it's there.

Frank Drebin
12-25-2019, 08:11 AM
Who gives a shit about Triss? Yen or gtfo.

As much as I've been legit looking forward to watching the show, the biggest question I've had was "Are we going to get hot Yennifer nudity?"

Yes, I'm that basic when it comes to my vision for Yen.

6 eps in. This show hits all the right notes. Only flaw is it does assume youre familiar with the lore theres a lot the show doesnt tell you. For me thats fine since i know already but i have to wonder how itll resonate with new audiences.

RP
12-25-2019, 01:18 PM
It was real good. I think they should have made it a bit more clear when they were doing the thing. Tons of people were probably confused. I caught on at episode 4. But i can easily see people not getting it at all.

RP
12-25-2019, 01:21 PM
They will need a bigger budget if they want to be on Game of Thrones level. The final episode battle was good. They did the best they could with the budget they had obviously. But if that were HBO money, It would have been fantastic.

RP
12-25-2019, 01:22 PM
I also liked how as the show goes, it became more about Yennefer's development rather than The Witcher. Good call by the show runners.

... and two months later, there is one very, very, very pervasive earworm.

6 eps in. This show hits all the right notes. Only flaw is it does assume youre familiar with the lore theres a lot the show doesnt tell you. For me thats fine since i know already but i have to wonder how itll resonate with new audiences.

Seemed okay to me, as I was unfamiliar with the games (The Witcher was always something that I kept relegating to back burners to eventually get around to one day) nor the books (didn't know they were a thing until that lawsuit tiff) and I felt mostly fine. I wouldn't have liked the time jumping thing as much if I hadn't already heard it does that before getting around to watching. I don't mind time skips, but given the nature of characters like Geralt or Yennifer, it was sometimes hard to tell what was a flashback and what wasn't... and I mean like they'll show Geralt doing something, then they'll show him doing something else, but that second thing was years earlier and with zero warning or hint.

I also got an eerie feeling (not a bad one) that made me feel like I was watching a live-action Claymore, and now I realize I wouldn't mind that at all.

Destor
01-05-2020, 11:56 PM
To be tecchnical i dont think there is a single instance of a flashback in this season. A flashback is specifically when a character is thinking back on a previous experience and in turn revealing that information to the audience. This is simply the order of the narritive...which for me i think is very well handled.

I rewatched the show for instance and im ep 1 Renfri tells Geralt that the Princess of Cintri led her 1st battle 3 months ago yet in the very scene prior the Queen of Cintra tells Ciri how she did that at Ciri's age meaning it was at the least 30 years prior.

I missed that my first go around but the show does tell you everything up front if you have the ears to know what youre hearing.

Tom Guycott
01-06-2020, 12:02 AM
Pardon my tecnicalities, then. I meant time skipping.

Point is, not everything is chronological, and some of it was a little difficult to tell what was taking place when, particularly with Geralt, as he pretty much looks the same no matter when he is (with one very notable exception). It helped I knew about the jumping around going in, but it could have been a little difficult to follow in spots without that knowledge.

Destor
01-06-2020, 12:15 AM
I think it made fora great reveal in 107 and 108 when it really sinks in that not only is the narrtive about the night of the attack from 101 but that Geralt was there. I dont disagree it would easily lose an audience but i appreciate that it didnt treat me like i was stupid and it told its story in the order with the most thematic weight.

Ruien
01-06-2020, 05:24 AM
I did not play the game but felt like the storyline was fleshed out enough. Only slight thing was that the witches were not really built up to much so when they were making a big deal out of one of the witches in the battle going down I felt like "so?".

Destor
01-06-2020, 10:23 AM
Triss? Def underdeveloped

Ruien
01-06-2020, 12:25 PM
Yup, her.

Tom Guycott
01-06-2020, 11:41 PM
Because they jump around, I wouldn't be surprised if that's something they flesh out later... If they continue in that style of storytelling, that is.

SlickyTrickyDamon
01-07-2020, 03:05 AM
Could be. I guess she's not as important in the books as she was in the games. I only played the games. Just going by word of mouth.

Tatman
01-08-2020, 08:40 AM
I'm expecting a much larger focus on Triss at some point. She's a major character. I really liked the first season. It turned out better than I expected. I deliberately kept my expectations low. haha

Destor

I hope they dont do much with her. I didnt care for the actress

Finished this last night.

This was really good. Got lost in the first few episodes on how they handled things. Geralt & Yen starting out in the past while Ciri is in the present. All leading up to everyone almost together at the end of the season.

Netflix definitely putting in the money too. No half ass CGI or fake blood here.
