I wont say how, but I may or may not have seen a slightly unfinished version of the movie trailer to this.

It's fucking amazing. Everything you want from just about every character but there is one major flaw.

No sign of Johnny Cage at all. Not sure if he'll be a surprise or what. It does not appear so. It seems like Kano takes on the comic relief in a lot of the trailer.

Everything you would want from Scorpion and Sub Zero are in it including a really cool as scene where Jax attempts to shoot Sub Zero point blank.

Lewis Tan is playing someone named Cole and from what I can tell, this entire story appears to revolve around him and Sonya Blade . Something to do with a tattoo or marking on him.

This is spoiled in the trailer ( unless they edit it out ) but Goro confirmed. He's show fighting Cole. I'm also pretty sure Smoke was in this. At least I thought it was Smoke. Raiden looks fantastic in the trailer. He has at least 1 great moment and he was speaking English so i dont know.

Given how many reboots we’ve seen in recent years (Full House + Saved by the Bell + Karate Kid + Boy Meets World), does this really surprise you? To Mortal Kombat’s credit however, they have done a fantastic job of continuously evolving to the point of still remaining relevant. This new trailer is really good and has me excited.

I really enjoyed it. It's a lot like the first one in that from a purely critical standpoint, there's a lot of holes that can be picked at, but most people aren't going to care, because it's just so much fun.

Kano is definitely the highlight.

The editing is fucking terrible, and characters aren't utilized very well, but again, its still very entertaining for what iy is. Particularly if youre a fan of the series.

Very underwhelming. The original film is is structurally better with both plot and character development and considerably better acting in it as well.

the films action is well directed and the cinematography of those scenes is solid throughout but its the only high point. and even that is stifled by the constant need to have the characters strike a pose and "look cool" instead actually doing something interesting.

for a film that felt the need to create a new character to be its protagonist youd think theyd have made that choice because they had a story they wanted to tell.

what we get however is a vanilla protagonist (thats primary character development is he's a shit tier fighter) with motivations so routine that if i gave someone 3 guesses as to what they are i bet theyd guess it on luck alone.

none of the characters shine in any way save kano. maybe sonya but still very low tier.

for a film that deliberately attempts to tell an original story (despite having a great mythos that doesnt need to be abandoned) the film spends a 5th of its run time with cheeky winks to the audience in an effort to get cheap pops. this noncommittal approach to forging its own path leaves me being pulled in two directions. on one hand a new cannon with new ideas. the other leaning on what id rather be watching reminding me how unsatisfied i am with this product .

this is marginally better than annihilation and that was on a fraction of the budget.

The first Sub-Zero, Bi-Han, killed Scorpion long before the first Mortal Kombat game's events when the sorcerer Quan Chi set them against each other unknowingly when he hired the both of them for the same task. As they were both members of rival clans, this lead to a fight when they eventually ran into each other, leading to Scorpion's demise. This allowed Scorpion to be reborn as a specter under Quan Chi's influence. Quan Chi was actually responsible for the death of Scorpion's family and clan but used Scorpion like a pawn for his own purposes. Sub-Zero went on to live until the first Mortal Kombat game's tournament, where he met his end when Scorpion took his revenge. Due to that Sub-Zero's dark nature, he would reborn in a similar fashion Scorpion was as Noob Saibot.

In the events of the second game, the younger brother of the original Sub-Zero takes the mantle and looks for answers surrounding the death of Bi-Han. Scorpion is drawn to him as he's confused as to the identity of this new Sub-Zero. This younger version isn't as swayed towards evil as his brother and eventually becomes one of Earth's warriors. Meanwhile, Scorpion is essentially a wild card throughout the rest of series.

In other words, this movie is fucking stupid.

Saw this yesterday. It was okay. I'd give it a 3 out of 5. Kinda what I expected but also kinda just felt a bit flat towards the end.

Cool that they included the original theme from the 90's movies though. :D
