For quite awhile when both guys were on the indy scene, I could not tell the difference between Joey Janella and Matt Riddle. It was like the running gag of Adam Cole and Adam Page in RoH.

Now, whenever I see Matt Riddle, I can only think of King Slender from the old NES Pro Wrestling game.

After catching up on both, I can't help but feel like WWE is counterbooking AEW. I mean, I know it is "obvious", but I mean there is no fucking way we would have the matches, "returns", and other appearances we got otherwise all on one show. And I don't just mean the quality, but the matchups. Like, Dunne vs Burch would have been a main event NXT match a couple of months ago, not a throwaway midcard matchup.

And as enjoyable as it is, I hope they don't ruin it by flaming everyone popular out in just a few months. Like, I don't want NXT to become like RAW did, in that every week had to be a PPV caliber card and all the "big stars" have to be on TV every week and accelerating storylines because they feel they need to keep eyeballs.

I kinda fear they're stepping into something they can't come back from, and the special thing NXT has become over the course of the last few years will suffer long-term because of it.

Possibly. But then again, WWE has a bad habit of stop-starting any tag team division. NXT has been the most consistent, but even there it sometimes has felt like they forget they have tag champs. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

NXT has very quietly out-AEW'd AEW. They feature more women and people of diverse backgrounds. There were as many women on the first two-hour show as there are listed on AEW's official women's roster.

Just finished watching a replay of the show via "other means"

Ending was a bit anti-climatic but Cole vs. Riddle for the NXT title was amazing overall. Match of the Year tier quality.

Balor making a surprise appearance was both great and a bit hilarious. Great in the sense that him vs. Cole should be amazing when it happens and hilarious in the sense of him being demoted to the "minors" due to how bad he was handled on the main roster and WWE being scared of AEW.

Maybe the weakest promo Dream has ever given and wouldn't be surprised if they told him just to stall for time since Cole vs. Riddle should have gone on a bit longer.

Io vs. Mia Yim was pretty good overall.

Gargano vs. Throne was also pretty good. The poison rana spot was cool.

:n: at Shayna's Reign of Terror continuing. Completely bored with her stranglehold on the division and her matches in general since they've been either really dull or have meh/flat endings.

Dunne vs. Burch was decent at best. Priest's post-match attack was the best thing from it.

Montez Ford is great. Street Profits vs. Undisputed Era was pretty good overall.

Very enjoyable show overall and if this week's is any indication, the Wednesday Night Wars are going to be amazing. Since this was hyped as a Takeover-caliber show, would put it around the mid to upper mid tier range.

Only real complaint these past few weeks is the lack of real storytelling and builds compared to Network era NXT. Its been the biggest downside to WWE's rush to beat AEW. On a smaller level, NXT also started picking up the bad habit from the main roster shows when it comes to poor timing for commercial breaks.

Definitely seems like it was "heavily edited".... half the stuff talked about here I didn't see....

Also Riddle/Cole seemed like they must have just "cut out" the majority of the match. They did the entrances, fought for a bit, then went to commercial and came back and fought for a few more minutes and then it ended. Felt like nothing had happened, yet the fans were chanting "fight forever".... I assumed it was just the NXT fans being dumb as usual....

The women's title match felt the same.... they didn't even give Candace an entrance, then Shayna entered, they fought for a short bit, went to commercial, and then came back and finished the match quickly after.

The tag match was the longest match on the show and was P good.....
