That would make sense as a reason and why you get instances like in the Netherlands and Spain where they hold certain annual festivals that always draws criticisms in the US of being black face and/or racist in tone.

Prob'ly not. And that's what makes this worse.

To counterbalance all the "I don't see it" folks, the Al Jolson-looking derogatory imagery is the first thing I noticed. This is one of those things that could have been completely avoided if they just ran it by him or somebody with some sense first instead of "here's your merch". This looks like something out of Bamboozled, and that was a satirical movie.

If I had any faith that WWE had any sort of self-awareness or quality writing, I would figure this was the beginning of a gimmick, angle, and push for the guy trying to buck the "this is all you are" trend. But, of course this is legit. Of course they're that tone deaf. Just of fucking course.

It's an odd move because the only buzz about Devlin lately was because of his OTT stuff and nothing NXT UK related. Nothing NXT UK related generates buzz, honestly. I really doubt this was something he asked for. This move doesnt hurt David Starr at all, he works a lot of other places, but it does rob OTT of their top babyface and seemingly punishes Devlin himself.

Mark Henry is a bad stereotype that also happens to be into sexual relations with geriatrics. It would be bad even if it was a white guy, but that makes it worse, especially since they called him chocolate.

Saba Simba is an "african warrior", offensive because you had to give it to a black guy, but not as bad because there are/were people in Africa who dressed like that. Not sure, not an expert on cultures.

Kamala is a man eater from Africa. Again, a stereotype, but thats just one thing wrong. If he was a man eater who only ate women, that would put him on equal footing with Mark Henry.

Cryme Tyme is two black dudes immediately labeled as "criminal" which fits into another racist stereotype, however, thats again only one hit against them.

So, all four give the bad stereotype/racism concept, but Henry amplifies it with a bad sexual innuendo/creepy behavior.
