What are the expectations?

I think that MLW's best hope for tonight is to just simply deliver. They have at best the makings for a really memorable wrestling card. Topped with a main event (Fatu/LA Park) that could be the best wrestling brawl of the year. Aries and Hart likely looking to have a spotfest to put them both back on the map along with MLW. The tornado tag should be a lot of fun and I'm expecting some creative spots in that one for sure.
Thatcher and Lawlor could be MOTN if they do what they have the potential to do.

Court said tonight is the next phase for MLW. I wonder what exactly that will mean?

It's the first ever PPV, first ever live 3hr show, each match will have more opportunity for time than the usual MLW show. I'm expecting a new pace for the show plus it's the first big show for AJ Hirsch on commentary.

I think that what MLW really needs is to just deliver a solid show that people will talk about. A critical success will put them above ROH with all of its current troubles and a financial success could even launch them past Impact on the perception level.

I see MLW/Impact/ROH as very neck and neck in many ways and in this new wrestling war, not all will last. ROH already seems to be teetering on doom... Impact and MLW seem to be rolling forward. Very exciting times.

Racial injustice gimmick then they got Jordan Oliver involved and it became more specific to referee's treatment of them as a group. They silenced themselves with duct tape over their mouths for a while ... it wasn't good and they were shit but honestly they've changed their gear a bit and look a lot better tonight. They've come a long way. Oliver is really good and will end up in AEW down the line I think.

Lots of bad lucha spots in this match. I mean I get it. MLW offers all kind of styles... but they have a lot of green luchadors.

Yeah I am not certain if his MLW deal was up or if AEW bought it out but they came to an amicable end. Court said there were no further dates with Tony and wished him well.

I don't like how the guys on commentary have very similar voices.......

The guy with the slightly deeper voice is better imo... doesn't put on the phony over the top "announcer" voice

AJ Hirsche took his place. He was on Tough Enough when Steve Austin was the host. He's doing well. The end of that triangle match was pretty cool.

The title matches were all good. The main event was also a really good blood bath... reminds me of an early ECW Arena show or early ECW PPV. Some good some bad. Nothing spectacular. MLW runs a lot of shitty venues. The venue the filmed at in Florida and the Melrose in Queens are too small for MLW and Impact. I understand they want to run in markets where people are watching Bein Sports and that's smart but pick a halfway decent looking venue ffs.

Overall I feel underwhelmed. I keep wanting something about MLW to be a "revolution" ... it's like they don't have the PWG (or what was once the ROH) quality of matches to make themselves stand out, they don't have the characters that cut great promos (like NWA does) ... it just feels very exhibition to me.

I understand they are creating a structure and a title weight class system and over time that will possibly matter a bit, but right now it's not enough.

If I had to pick between Impact, MLW and ROH I think I'm going to pick Impact.

Even though it's small, the Melrose Ballroom looks nice on TV with the huge screen at the entrance, and good lighting and stuff
