Considering the constant online complaints people had about the lack of storyline stuff for their weekly show, AEW delivered it big time for tonight.

In fairness, AEW is not perfect obviously. However, it seems that most of those folks suffer from the same moronic and/or delusional beliefs as Vince (and those that work for him,) that WWE is putting out quality programming and/or have some "master plan" for their product. It's like they actually know WWE is bad, but have forgot what a good product is. Yet they also somehow believe that WWE is still the only company that can put out a good product, thus (somehow) WWE is secretly putting out a good product but no one else has realized it but them yet. It seems like it's almost a Dunning-Kruger effect.

MJF is the fucking man. He owned the show tonight and that was easily one of the best promos of the yr. The back and forth with Jericho was great, and it lead to the debut of Wardlow, who looks like a monster.

I loved how Jim Ross referred to Tony Schiavonie as "The Great Tony Schiavonie" on commentary... which is so true!

I want to point out exactly why he is one of the greatest of all time. Tony always tries to justify wrestling bullshit to make it seem real. Example. Cody runs in for the attack on Jericho and MJF, takes out MJF and then botches the powerslam on Jericho. Tony immediately says "He's not even cleared for action!" ... boom, fuck up sold as real. I love Tony. He's always done things like this, explained the unexplained or sold the kayfabe in a way that comes off as real. He is the f'n best.

This is why I think the death match with Omega worked (even if I don't like those matches and there are other issues I won't delve into). Even if the match was dumb as fuck, you now have undeniable proof that Moxley is twisted as fuck. Those matches, much of the time, aren't particularly great and are frustrating when the two could have a better match with a different style.

But this gives Moxley the lure of a Cactus Jack-type character, who wrestled in his share of fucking horrificly bad and awkward death matches. Instead of those matches being standalone works of art, they add to the character's mystique if utilized correctly. Now John Moxley is a guy who might kill your husband if he's a wrestler.

The advantage he has is that his look has never been better, he CAN work other styles very well (much like Foley) so the deathmatches don't have to be a crutch., and he's a great promo.

Plus, it's kind of good that Moxley did something that disgusted even the smartest of fans. He comes out there and talks about how he's unhinged... it's kind of lame if Dave Meltzer is like "WHAT AN ARTISTIC MASTERPIECE" -- that almost makes him just another guy. This makes him legitimately dangerous, whereas a rowdy brawl with Omega woulda just been people going "GREAT MATCH."

Just food for thought, god knows what the actual motivation of that shit show this past Saturday was.

The thing about it is... is Mox a heel or babyface? Who will the crowd cheer on Wednesday? Darby right? I mean I could be wrong...

AEW really only has two big heels with Jericho and MJF... Not saying he should be a heel but certainly can be one. He never got to be Moxley in WWE that's for sure. He could be a real sick fuck if he wanted. I almost feel like that's the way to go if I had to pick for him. But also floating back and forth and not really defining heel or babyface for him could probably work just as well and likely better.

Was very good, maybe the best episode yet. So much happened and I didn't feel "bored" at all....

Question.... on TNT, do all commercial breaks have PiP? In Canada, most seem to, but seems like very often they have one or two matches were they don't do PiP. This week Hangman/PAC had no PiP, and it is just like "Ok, so you wasted a PiP earlier on mostly crowd shots/entrances, but can't do it here?"

Same here. Some commercials have it, some don't.

From what I remember, advertisers are not really fond of the PiP spots for their ads and at least in USA Network's case, those spots have lower ad rates than regular breaks.

Its also why only a couple of those breaks are done PiP style and them usually happen more towards the front of an hour.
