It probably is, but it's one of those ill advised dramatically cut trailers for the big reveal that it's Ghostbusters instead of whatever drama you thought it was going to be! Because marketing. Stupid editing like that is why I originally hated Fight Club - I was expecting an action movie, and what I got, I wasn't in the mood for and wasn't allowing it to be the greatness it was. Comedies are cut to look like dramas. Dramas are cut to look like action flicks. And then, these geniuses wonder why movies might be recieved poorly.

In the larger scheme, I'm wondering if they're still trying to limp to that supposed plan of uniting all of the Ghostbusters in a epic movie; the girls, this cast, and then the older originals?

The 3 remaining originals will be in it in some capacity from what I read.

Felt the same about the trailer as Desty but if you make it comedy it's going to bring back memories of the 2016 movie. It's just the first trailer for a movie not out for months and months so there will be 1-3 more trailers that will come out and might present more of what you're looking for.

My thoughts are not optimistic but I'll take a wait and see approach.

X for doubt. Marketing is much more savy these days. 90 seconds 15 that are tense. Reveal. Advertise laughs the rest of the ways. This aint it chief. Im sure there are jokes but this is something hugely departed from the tone of the first films

Very enjoyable. Highly recommend for fans of the original (two?). There are some things I didn't like but it didn't ruin the entire thing.

The whole Shandor thing was dumb as fuck. Why did you get JK Simmons to be in the movie for 30 seconds just to get ripped apart? Shandor is an already baked-in antagonist for any sequel that may come. He would be perfect either as the direct antagonist or the evil puppet master pulling all the strings. He's been name dropped a bunch of times in the franchise so to have him show up and leave like that was really disappointing.

Now, there's a high likelihood that something had to get cut. It was already a 2-hour movie and there were even scenes in the trailer that got cut (I definitely remember kids at school playing a prank on Phoebe involving an exploding chip bag that wasn't in the movie itself) so I'd be interested in knowing if that was the case because that made zero fucking sense.

I mean there are a few other minor things that bothered me but the overall tone and execution was really well done.

Dunno, I always like the "bad guy who is trying to summon something evil gets immediately killed by said evil" trope. Cause it is like "yeah, duh, what did you expect to happen here"

Ugh. Maybe you don't mind it, which is fine if you have low standards, but it was a total waste.

If he had more back story or screen time where its established that he was a dolt what happened might make sense. The problem is they made it clear he was the opposite. He built that town and the building in NY. He was a historian who knew how to summon Gozer. His 30 seconds was nonsensical and a total waste.

It was akin to Cerci in GOT at the end where this intelligent schemer just runs away and gets crushed by a falling ceiling. While the characters aren't apples to apples their deaths and what they mean or potentially mean to the story they live in warrants more than a derp death.

I won't disagree that there was a lot of untapped potential with that one... but at the same time I ain't super upset about it. Which I guess, in turn, is the fault of the movie for not getting me invested in Shandor and wasting that potential to where I did not care about his quick death.

Maybe in a sequel they will reveal that was actually his plan and he is now the most powerful spirit entity ever

There was definitely alot cut out it seems.

For instance,
There was supposed to be a sentinel terror dog that walked on two legs that was cut I think during final battle.

There was also a film scene where a waitress gets covered in slime that did not make it.



Finn Wolfhard even mentioned in an interview something about an abandoned plot line.

As a GB fan, I loved it and still recognized there were a few things I thought could have been done a little better. Also felt like the movie needed another 20 minutes during the leadup to the final act.

I saw it twice. Enjoyed it more second time. My family loved it.
