Of all the times for this to happen :nono:

No matter what type of disc I put in it seems to think it’s damaged. I guess it’s the lens that’s the issue. I’ve used a lens’s cleaning disc but no good.

Any ideas?

You're screwed :(

If you can find a place that repairs them, go for it, if you really need it replaced.

I mean, it’s £200 that I could do without spending if there’s a fix.

Doubt there will be at the minute. Probably not deemed “essential”.

Yeah my Xb1 did that as well. Never could fix it and not for lack of trying either. Thought I would be able to after I was able to "unbrick" the console previously when one of their fucking updates killed it.

Worst cable box Ive ever had.

Fuck it. I’ve ordered an XBox One S with the Star Wars game. Only cost £209 and paying for it over 12 months with 0% interest. Won’t come for a week due to the Easter break. I’ll probably get called back into work before I get much use of it.

Before sending it in or repair talk or anything, try to see if there is an update for the DVD player that you somehow didn't automatically recieve. I had to do that a couple of years ago when my system wouldn't read any discs. I had flashbacks of taking my PS2 apart and adjusting the laser, but one manual software update later, I was back in business.

I had this happen to my PS4, so I reluctantly decided that rather than spend tons of money having it shipped or taken to a repair place, I'd just buy all my games through PS Store from that point on. I haven't looked back since. :)

This is a good point.

As a last resort you can also download the Xbox firmware to a USB stick and use it to flash your system back to factory settings. If you put in a thumb drive and turn the system off and then hold down the sync button on the side and the disc eject button for like 5-10 seconds it will boot from USB instead of the hard drive and allow you to flash it. Installs firmware on a clean system. Run any updates, cross fingers. Obv back up your saves and stuff before you do this though.

Had to do this when one of their beta updates from the testing program completely bricked my xbox one only a couple months after it launched.

The fucking beta program...... fucked my xbox up twice. No more of that nonsense. Erased EVERYTHING.

I remember one time Microsoft actually sent me a beta for xbox 360 of a game before it released and it had a new testing operating system on it. Had to verify the serial numbers before they sent it to me so it could be programmed to work on my X360 only. They straight told me the disc would brick anyone elses Xbox.

Someone stole that disc from me a few months later and I smile every time I think about how they went home and bricked the xbox at the crack house.

What’s the best way to back up saves?

External hard drive would be your best bet. I use a 2TB one for mine.

Cloud service.

I know PS4 got it. Not sure how Xbox/Microsoft is doing these days.

Can’t find a DVD Player app in the store, just the Blu Ray player which is up to date. :?:

New Xbox arrived yesterday. Installed WWE 2K19 from disc but my saved data won’t sync, and when I click “go offline” it tries to sync again. Just stuck in a loop.

Any ideas?

Typically on a new Xbox when syncing older save data, it can take a very long time. The older the save, the longer it can take.

I noticed this when I fired up Fallout 4 not too long ago. Had to walk away to let the sync take place, or anytime I fire up a 360 game.

How can this technology be harnessed for evil?

The cool thing about this too, is that the SN of the 360 was embedded in the software, just hidden in the rings via steganography.

Don’t think that’s the issue, as it’s just not connecting at all. Installed RE7 and managed to sync, maybe just a WWE 2K19 issues? Wouldn’t be so bad if it’d let me play offline without syncing.

Yeah. You might try re-installing it since other titles don't seem to be giving you issues. Since data from other games seems fine, it seems logical it is the data for that game.

Also ensure there aren't any system updates (which I'm sure it forced you to do anyway).

Weird that the disc-based install is giving you shit about offline play. Have that issue with digital downloads, unless I make the Xbone in my living room my home Xbox.
