Lol damn.
I get the point of his argument, but all the added shock value that is always part of Cornette's rants hurts the credibility of the argument.
I would have to think Vince is gonna give that baby a contract as soon as it's born, so she isn't losing that much money.

I’ve never seen someone so often taken out of context as Cornette. If you call what he said “worked up,” you clearly don’t listen to Cornette. It was half riffing on how shit babies are and half “you’re in a cherry spot and you actually choose to walk away right now? Fucking, alright.” There was absolutely no bitterness in it.
Obviously there can be many issues compounding Becky. Maybe she had a condition that made having a kid unlikely? Maybe she genuinely wants out of WWE for a period of time for some reason? Corny brushed over those. They aren’t as funny as telling Seth to wrap it. But she’s also in a bizarre business. If you’re an athlete or on-screen/touring performer, being pregnant is something that you need to think about. There wasn’t legitimate hatred at Becky for choosing to go and have a baby.
Lol damn.

I tink Vince is in worse with the pro football legal shit right now to care outside of a board room.. js
She’s 33, fertility starts to drop off a cliff from the mid-30s so I can see why she’s going for it. She could come back in 2 years still at an age where she can go. All of the aesthetic issues Jim points at (jokingly or otherwise) are minimised by Becky’s attire so it’s not like she comes back looking wildly different. She’s also at a point where she has a lot of cache; she’s leaving at almost the peak of her powers. Do it in 2 years and she likely wouldn’t be as valuable due to booking/creative/momentum.
How many socks does Noid have these days?

I was half-expecting Cornette to praise her for finding a way to take time off and not be overexposed. There are elements that are actually very good for Becky (you know, outside of personal fulfilment).

Vince would probably give Rollins the stink eye for life if he found out this whole situation could have been completely avoided.

Could see that being the likely reason for why now.
She's extremely lucky to have had her career last as long as it has, especially in a prominent role, since more often than not female wrestlers usually retired in their mid-to-late 20s. Meltzer had a pretty good point in this week's Newsletter of how you can make a strong case of her being WWE's greatest ever female star due to her reaching legit super stardom and the money she was making for the company. Especially for someone who wasn't a hand-picked star nor seen as potential mega star material by Vince and co until it actually happened.

You're right. People do need to stop valuing your opinion.
I’ve actually listened to some of Cornette’s stuff in the last few weeks and he has some great takes on certain things. He was asked who he would want to manage if he made a return to wrestling in an onscreen capacity and he gave this great little promo/outline for Jacob Fatu, and he dismantled a match from AEW (Darby Allin vs someone I think) where they went straight in at top gear, his insights made a lot of sense. He loses me when he puts on the gimmick. He can’t give a rational critique of certain people (Omega comes to mind) and goes off on an incredible rant that pops some people but loses me.
It was Allin vs Sammy Guevara where they almost immediately went to a ladder break spot.

I don’t think his takes on Omega are wrong at all. He’s “spectacular,” but that gets really boring. Omega’s bad facial expressions and lack of psychology have always been a problem, and they’re a huge part of why he is such a cold fish in AEW. His take on Omega’s tag match from this week makes perfect sense, and he even uses some wrestling terminology Omega probably knows dick about.

Omega is a fucking amazing in ring performer. Yes he doesn't care about psychology and his facials are irritating. Thing is, Cornette doesn't say he's Ann amazing in ring performer. He just shits on him. He's had listeners send questions about his inability to be objective when looking at Omega. Because he isn't. And that's fine.

Well, he’s not an amazing in-ring performer, because of those things you admitted aren’t there. That’s all part of in-ring. He’s a great athlete/gymnast, which Cornette says all the time.

He's an amazing in ring performer. Is he a great storyteller? No, because his in ring psychology sucks. But as far as getting in the ring and putting on Ann amazing match, he's ace. Ava he's been ace for a long time. It may not be compelling from an emotional standpoint. But it sure as shit is an amazing performance.

You are calling acrobatics a great performance. To others, that's not all performance is. But you're using your definition and applying it to Cornette and then saying that Cornette doesn't live up to your definition (which is ass-backwards, to be honest).
Cornette would agree with you that Omega can do spectacular shit. Where he would disagree with you is how you define that with terminology.

I mean, Jake Roberts was a pretty bad in ring performer from the stuff I've seen. But he was an amazing storyteller. Being able to athletically put on a good wrestling match and tell a story are not one in the same.
Ricochet v Ospreay is a prime example of a match with zero storytelling.

Jake Roberts was a good wrestler, he got a hell of a lot out of a very simple approach. His work reminds me of a surgeon, just methodically dismantling people until he hit that DDT.
Jake the man is pure scum but he was a pretty good wrestler and a great performer overall.

You're just sticking to your own definitions, lol. I'm not the biggest fan of Jake, honestly, but there's a difference between him not being a guy who did a lot of high spots and being a bad in-ring performer. His storytelling is what made him legend people still talk about to this day (well, maybe the promos and romanticizing the DDT more than anything). You're kind of arguing against yourself and don't even realize it. You don't need to do the shit Kenny Omega does to be great.
Yes, Ricochet vs. Ospreay is an example of a match with zero storytelling. That's why it fucking sucked and I turned it off a few minutes in. It's why a guy like Cornette desribed it as "a brilliant display of gymnastics, but it wasn't a wrestling match." Synchronized swimming without the water. I can't remember the exact verbatim, so I paraphrase, but you keep using your definitions to define other people's instead of re-evaluating your own. You separating "storytelling" from "in-ring" is a personal exercise that not everyone is going to agree with.

I think Bray is a very good and well rounded worker. Jake was great making his matches compelling and build up to that ddt. His short clothesline sucked. It looked bad. Because athletically Jake didn't seem to gifted. But you ignore it because psychologically he's on an entirely different level and can tell a story without having to do much. Imo.

Like, I guess that's fine. That's your business and what you enjoy. But I just don't see the logic in accusing someone of Cornette for not following your template, even though he says the exact same things but just doesn't say it the way you'd like him to, haha.

I will say this about Cornette; if he could ever just not give a shit about storylines or the type of wrestling being promoted, and was strictly just an agent in charge of laying out matches, he'd be a brilliant add to the company.

I would have to think Vince is gonna give that baby a contract as soon as it's born, so she isn't losing that much money.
lolol wtf
Not gonna lie though, my first reactions when I heard it were "Vince is gonna be PISSED at her and Seth" and "Why would she choose to do this when she's at the top of the company".
One: I love how it's distilled down to the most scathing portions without the overall tone and context. Surprised a couple sentences from the portion where he talked about women not being on top in that capacity in the business for ages weren't affixed to that to make it 100% sound like he hates all women.
Two: from a wrestling business standpoint, you know he's kinda right. Think about how hard WWE was just trying to get Maria Kanellis back. Rumors of that shit for ages. They finally get her, and get roped into signing her husband with her (whatever your opinions of Mike Bennett as a wrestler, you know damn well WWE didn't want him, and he was never a talent they would have looked at otherwise). In spite of that, they were in line of a huge, potentially overexposing push, until the guy had the unmitigated gall to get his wife pregnant. The one "prize" the company were horny for, and they were denied soon after finally getting her back. You know Mike was getting shit from the corporate side for that. It killed Kharma/Kong's WWE push dead. The only one it seemed to not "backfire" on was Miz, since it helped him maintain his heel status at a time where people were starting to just cheer his wife just because she's "hot".
Three: there are no lies in what he said about Dana Brooke. A concerned "What the hell is wrong with Dana?" is the exact reaction you'd have if you saw her years ago and then just saw her again recently. At least with Jordynne Grace, the opinion on how she looked was an opinion based on nothing that could be helped. Dana, on the other hand, could have avoided every nip and tuck. That shit never looks good over time, and seems to require more maintence to make it look half as good over time. Plastic surgery has diminishing returns, no matter how much money gets thrown into it. Not his fault she has become more living proof of that.

When I saw Dana Broke at mitb I had to Google her because she's nearly unrecognizable at this point.
As far as Becky being pregnant goes, her situationis nothing like Maria's or Kharma's. She was already on top. She's been their top babyface since she turned on Charlotte nearly 2 years ago. She headlined WrestleMania and won the main event last yr, has can champ for over a yr, etc etc.
If you were ever gonna go out, she couldn't have picked a better time. Especially considering the current situation and the loss of viewership in the product.
