That's a shame since he was their best commentator in years even if his commentary style can be very divisive.
Nobody else in WWE commentary manages to bring the passion to shows like Mauro could for NXT and TakeOvers. He helped make those shows feel even more special to watch.

He seemed to be happy working with Nigel and Beth, maybe he doesn't want to work with Vic Joseph or Tom Phillips?
If anything, he probably just gave Wade Barrett a little extra leverage.

I liked that he was actually excited calling the action, buthis pop culture references always seemed so forced.

According to the Observer, Mauro's departure was due to him just wanting a less stressful work schedule and also wanting to remain close to his ill mom.
Mauro Ranallo and WWE have agreed to terms of his release today and it is expected that it will be announced officially shortly.
Unlike in the past, this departure was not on any negative terms. Ranallo has missed the last few NXT broadcasts due to going back to British Columbia where his mother has been hospitalized. He was looking for a less stressful schedule even though WWE did accommodate him as best they could as he had been doing the shows from a home studio in Santa Monica, California, where he lives, as opposed to flying into Orlando each week since the start of the pandemic.

A bit, but no where near as bad as a lot of the "WWE sancioned" bullshit a lot of the people in the booth have to say that doesn't sound like anything anyone would say ever or shoehorning in the tagline of the upcoming PPV in conversation. "So and so is going to Bragging Rights: the one time of the year where everyone from every roster competes..." I'll take a forced Lady Gaga or meme reference over that shit everytime.

The buzzwords are awful for sure. But most times when Mauro would try to shoehorn some reference into conversation, it sounded so awkward.

This.
