Tracy was the best. He and the FBI were the highlight of 97-98 ECW. Amazing matches with Steve Armstrong at the Southern Boys and was a huge influence on today's stars. Chris Hero and Punk got so much better working with Smothers in IWA Mid South and both speak very highly of him

A true gem that you don't see anymore. R.I.P Tracy.

The fact that he was only 58 feels mental. Way too young.

Bet you if he wasn't sick he'd still have been wrestling. That's how all those southern dudes roll.

I meant that last post as a compliment lol. It seems to go beyond "needing a paycheque" for a lot of the lifers. They genuinely seem to love wrestling and wish to do it forever.

Of course, you have your Rock and Roll Expresses who aren't worth a dime, but some people need to work to give them purpose.

Lol I remember listening to an interview where Smothers was delivering pizzas during it and having to stop the interview to complete his delivery.

RIP.

Mostly only familiar with his stuff from ECW and the time he wrestled a real bear after reading about it online.

The fact that he was the highlight of 97-98 ECW makes me never wanna delve into 97-98 ECW but I did like him as a kid in WCW.

Dude, 1998 ECW is atrocious . It picks up a bit in 1999 and gets really good again in mid 2000.

Tommy Rich and Tracy Smothers were a fucking riot though. Especially during when ECW would do their Pulp Fiction promos

I feel like, if I don't post this, I'm somehow disrespecting his memory.

He always seemed like a genuinely good guy. Lots of stories of him helping younger guys and Punk especially mentioned how he loved working in front of younger crowds and doing the comedy stuff.

It just seems like he could have gone the way of the tough badass (seemed to make those toughest guy in the business lists for anyone who worked closely with him). He could easily have made it tough for green guys, but he seemed to love what he did, loved the business and just loved entertaining in so many different places.

His stuff in ECW always looked atrocious but the business is definitely a lot worse for losing a guy with a good heart and a good nature like Smothers. RIP

I will keep this very brief. Tracy was one of my favorite humans Ive eve had the privilege to know. I truly love him and will never forget the Sundays we spent drinking and watching the Steelers or the saturdays i spent mocking his unwavering support for the Vols. He was incomprehensibly tough and equally kind.

It was always hilarious how out of place he looked in the Full Blooded Italians, but what if I told you he was also in the Nation of Domination for a bit?
