Rate the Game: Week 40

Well we're back on schedule after an unfortunate turn of events that neither expected or welcomed. I have to put that behind me and look forward to a new year ripe with potential. Like maybe we've got a new number one on our list? Chrono Trigger seemed universally loved and I even took my rating of 5 into consideration when calculating the average. I also made sure to deduct Helmsphere's 2 rating as requested. So let's unveil the updated leaderboard:

*EDIT*: I took into account RDD's last minute score for Chrono Trigger so I'm going to have to update this sucker yet again. He gave it a 5 as well so let's see what changes, if any, that brings*

*EDIT* Chrono Trigger manages to crack the top 3 and break the monopoly Nintendo has claimed for so long and takes the number two spot! It's a whole new ballgame! Well, not really as we're still just pulling names out of a container and rating them. Speaking of which...

...BAM! It's slightly obscured by my gross finger but your game to rate this week is the sequel to a video game classic, Sonic the Hedgehog 2! Is it better than the original? Look for the standings to possibly change as I'm allowing RDD and any other potential voters give their ratings for Chrono Trigger. Seeing as I was unable to do this last week there was a whole length of extra time where someone could have voted so it's the least I can do but you've only got until midnight tonight CT.

sonic 2/3 and knuckles are all legendary and still hold up. 4

Did the update to the leaderboard. Chrono Trigger comes close but no cigar in regards to taking the top spot but it's still in some pretty good company.

I didn't get a chance to play Sonic the Hedgehog 2 until it was on Xbox Live. I never owned a Sega system in my entire life. It was still awesome. The casino zone alone is a blast plus it gave us Tails.

I had the Mega Drive and played the originals when they came out and everything but I have to confess, I do not enjoy Sonic. Was never huge on it at the time, I thought it was alright, but there were plenty of other games I would have rather played. Now? I can't play it at all. I've tried. Dude needs to calm the fuck down. Giving it a three because the worlds, bosses and music are pretty nice and memorable. That gameplay though. Nauseating.

I'm waiting on a Daddy Trump check but I have a gameboy and a Sega Genesis I'm going to film myself repairing them. I've done a of research.

Hey, was that whole "blow into the cartridge" thing ever a problem for the Genesis? I don't remember it ever being an issue.

Sonic 2 is definitely an iconic game. Due to the nature of how short/simple platformers are, I find it difficult to rate it a 5 since you truly shouldn't need to sink a lot of time into it. But man was this game fun. Plus they started the whole "hey let's just release video games on Tuesdays now" thing so I guess that's neato too.

Really good game and a classic. Not quite as a huge classic like Super Mario World, but definitely deserves a 4 and higher...

The inclusion of Tails and the game being co-op or 2 player really changed things.

A sure 4 for me.
