I'm loving these shows. They may be about secondary characters but they're still important and interesting characters and deserve a longer showcase in the spotlight, in my opinion. Seeing that familiar face pop up again in that opening sequence was a nice callback.

I liked it a lot.
Great intro action and later on we find out about Avenger finances.
I'd probably have sold the shield, that stuff seems to be worth a pretty penny.

Love having a sweet action sequence in each episode
Loving the music in the show too... and the callbacks to the Captain America soundtracks...
just finished ep 2. I am a fan of this buddy cop series
I think all of Wakanda raped Bucky....

There's something...off about him.

He's a good guy in the comics so I'm thinking he's on the up and up, he's just got a different style.

You might want to look up US Agent. Cause in the comics, he didn't start out as a good guy at all.

He was an antagonist but I wouldn't label him a villain. He was an anti hero at worst.

His problem is that he's more jingoistic than Rogers. If he'd been in Civil War he'd have signed the Sokovia Accords without question if Ross had asked.

Makes things actually move, though. So far a lot better than WandaVision in that regard which was more of a slow extended build with a bunch of throwaway stuff in there too. This feels like so much is constantly happening and nearly everything is actually important.
Loved episode 3. I’m a sucker for “buddy cop”/“odd couple” schtick and this delivered both with Falcon/Bucky/Zemo.

Yes. In "Civil War", the scene where Rogers kisses Sharon and it cuts to Sam and Bucky in the car is a great example of this. Just Sam alone nodding his head in approval would have been fine; but Sam AND Bucky nodding makes it hilarious. Daniel Bruhl getting to have some comedic moments is great stuff.

Speaking of Steve kissing Sharon.... seems odd that he would never have tried to find her after... just left her on her own on the run and in hiding in Madripoor for years...

In Civil War:

I've watched episodes 1 to 4 today (I'm going to watch epi 5 soon), and it is good stuff. I like how these MCU shows have been able to explore, to a certain extent, the impact of the Blip on the world, which is something you wouldn't necessarily see in the films. I'd like to see them explore this aspect further.

I do recall that Walker pocketed one of the vials after Zemo destroyed them all. I honestly thought he would end up using it so it could even out the fight against either Bucky or Carly - Or give it to his ally to try and save him.
The Carter angle semi-surprised me, especially when they showed her place. But they do seem to progressing her as a villain of the future - Perhaps in Captain America 4, though that may be too soon?
It was a really good ending though, closure for Bucky - The one thing I was disappointed for though was a lack of Chris Evans. I thought he would have made a very small cameo at the end as his olden-self just as a nod of approval.
Last point would be, the final battle took place in what looked like it was New York - Was Spiderman on vacation or something??

i'd prefer her heel turn to be legit on account of being abandoned by cap, living in peggy's shadow her whole life, hunted by the people she spent her life serving (we saw what that did to walker), became queen of crime out of desperation and necessity and then over time has developed a penchant for it
seems way more intriguing an arc than "lol secret alien"

what about when comic book heroes get alignment swapped in the comics, how does that sit with you
also didn't sharon canonically work as a mercenary for a while
not quite an 'alignment swap' but it's not like her doing what's necessary to survive even if it conflicts with her historic values is an unprecedented step

I don't think Sharon did anything villainous. Morally questionable maybe, but she only supported Carly at the beginning because she agreed with her cause. Once Carly started taking more extreme measures however, Sharon joined the fight to stop her.
Fignuts
04-26-2021, 09:22 PM
And yeah, even in the comics, Sharon isn't a superhero. She's first and foremost a secret agent. So it fits her character that she's willing to take measures that the average hero might not be comfortable with.
mitchables
04-26-2021, 09:32 PM
i thought she fought to stop her because karli stole the serum to start using it for her own ends rather than keep serving as sharon's muscle
it's clear she killed karli to stop her from outing her, as she did batroc
so a little cold-blooded, plus the post-credits scene where she froths over getting to sell state secrets to the highest bidder
as i said, i think that she may have started down this path out of desperation and necessity, but she's not exactly not embracing it at this point
totally understand why she would be mad at the US government and its superheroes though

I know everyone's rooting for Sharon to be a Skrull to tie in with Secret Invasion but, I'm not seeing it. This is a logical progression for a character that was flat out abandoned by people she tried to help for 8 years. Yeah sure, 5 of those years were because half the universe got dusted but the point remains.

Thanos wasn't right. Half the population shouldn't have been wiped out to begin with.
Also, the chaos wasn't as simple as disappearing and re-appearing. They disappeared and were just GONE for five years. People processed that. Most folks had to come to terms with the assumption that the missing that they loved were dead. They grieved. They moved on. People re-married. They got new/different jobs. They sold their homes or bought new ones. That is a whole different type of upheaval. It wouldn't have been near the same logistical or emotional nightmare if it were maybe up to a couple of weeks or so of folks being missing. How could he be right about a problem he caused?
Often the most compelling villains are the ones who see things their own way, and not just cartoonishly evil for evil's sake. Thanos was a compelling victim... well, Older Thanos, anyway, but that's a different topic in itself. Indiscriminate genocide is still genocide. He had what he thought was a legitimate point... but it wasn't. That's what made it an evil plan. And even the veil of selflessness in it wasn't true at all, because that coin flip didn't include himself. He had planned on being around live out his days smugly believing all of the remainder of known existence would be thankful to him for his deed. And the alternative before his Infinity Gauntlet plan was just physically killing half the population of planets one at a time. This was just a time saver.
I get that being sympathetic to the villain is all the rage nowadays, but this ain't it, chief.

I'm not. I'm actually hoping for a miniseries where she goes from one end of that spectrum to the other, and during that journey, we not only get her motivations, but actual exposition into what happened on Earth for those five years aside from Captain Marvel showing up asking where Fury is. It would be a good way to tell that story to the audience while they chronicle what is either super deep cover, her complete fall from grace, or her basically becoming "The Boss" where nobody knows she's doing her job because it looks like she's the bad guy.
With that said, I wouldn't mind it if she were a Skrull, but that isn't exactly number one on my list. Hell, people kinda forgot that was even a thing until the end of WandaVison.
On a very side note: I wonder now, since they established Madripoor as a place, that they'll introduce Wolverine into the MCU as Patch?

They've already changed a lot of dynamics of stories between source and MCU both out of meta neccessity and storyline improvement, so any form of Secret Wars/Secret Invasion is prob'ly not going to be beat for beat what the original arcs were.
Wouldn't even be surprised if they change the villans from the Scrulls to, say the Plodex or something.
Which could mean Marrina could appear.
Which could mean Alpha Flight.
Yes, I'm still on that.
