1.2 Million
I honestly expected it to stay in the 700-900k range so I'm surprised

Holy crap at that jump.
Figured maybe they'd hit low 900k as best case scenario prior to NXT's numbers coming out and then maybe mid 800k range after NXT had a much smaller boost than I was expecting (NXT actually went down if you factor in Peacock viewers).
It's a good thing they put on a mostly good show, minus a bit of overbooking. Will be curious to hear the quarter hour breakdowns.

Well as predicted by Slik and others the ratings for both shows went up a lot. Turns out it was a good move for NXT to tuck tail to Tuesdays. At least they can say they are the number one show on Tuesdays.

Lol please. AEW's rating means nothing to me, never has. It's always been about people here celebrating like they work for AEW, hence the mocking of the oddly weird self congratulatory behavior.
Even Fucking Barry Horowitz would think too much self back patting is going on!

Also, no one cares that you don't like AEW. Most of my comments towards it are negative, as there's a lot more things I dislike about AEW than things I enjoy.
But I don't get any flak for it, because I'm not suffering from delusions that everyone is against me.
Have you ever tried having an actual discussion with people here, on what you don't like about AEW? I think you'll find even the people who really like AEW would agree with you on some points. At the very least they'd be willing to debate it with you in a civil manner. But you eliminate that possibility when you present your criticisms like a curmudgeonly 12 year old xbox troll.
Just try it. Once. For me. Watch an episode of dynamite, and talk about the things you liked, and didn't like. I promise you, most people here will respond civilly to your post, though they may not agree. If anyone does attack you simply for not liking something, I will personally come to your defense and tell them to fuck off.

Also, remember when Noid (the expert on U.S. media ratings and advertising revenues that he is, and who has friend's "in advertising" that supposedly "tell him things" about ratings and ad rates/revenues, for some reason) said that AEW would never break a million viewers again? I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell ya, that he was wrong.
Makes you wonder what else that idiot is wrong about huh? Maybe the utter bullshit he spouts about AEW ratings and ad revenues are bullshit too huh? Nah... can't be!

I know it's a big ask, but take an hour and go read replies to my post from pretty much any thread.
But it's not just directed at me, so it's not just in my head. It's directed at anybody that is not to use the phrase "All In".
I’d suggest you look outside TPWW, or the gang mentality some people have with stopping critics. BigCrippyZ accused me of sucking Vince’s cock, even though I am largely down on the WWE product as well. Vito gets nasty and goes after people in passive aggressive ways. Screech and slik get salty. #fan is reasonable, but doesn’t like AEW himself. He says it’s more about how people criticize it, or their attitude or whatever, which is ironically what is frustrating about the blind AEW devotion.

I reply to Fignuts stating that there are no civil discussions to be had because a handful of posters can do nothing but be uncivil.
Your Genius response to that is to:

Respect and civil discourse goes both way.
Everyone was chill in this thread until you decided to barge in acting all obnoxious. Then start trying to play as if your the victim and being unfairly bullied this whole time when people either call you out or question why you are acting the way you are.
Fignuts even offered to start a discourse with you over AEW to talk about both the good and bad and you decided to just shrug off him.

I agree with xrod that bigcrippyz is very reactionary, and defensive. But I'd wager even he could be civil with you if you presented your dislikes of AEW in a way that wasn't dripping with sarcasm on a ridiculous level.
Smeat is accurate in that respect goes two ways. You're not going to get said respect by mocking people just for liking something you don't. Whether that was your intention or not, it's how you come off.
And if you want to act obnoxious to the people who deny Aew's flaws and see it as the golden goose of wrestling then fine. But don't play the victim as if the whole forum is against you, because I can count on one hand the amount of people here that fit that description. Even among the people who really like AEW.

As a lifelong Congressional member of the Wrestling Forum I want to put my two cents in on this controversial topic. Many AEW fans in general are very sensitive and protective over their baby. It's an unconditional mother's love that comes from years of abuse by WWE and Vince McMahon. We are all entitled to an opinion, and those opinions or criticisms are absolutely valid if said critic actually watches the product they are speaking on.
For years, many of us have obliterated TNA and WWE for their products. It objectively wasn't for us. Obviously this will be the case for AEW as well. It won't be for everyone. And Xrod is likely lashing out loudly because of the years of abuse from being a WWE fan, the new big million dollar promotion opens with cable tv and ppv and big stars, and it still doesn't appease him. I think it's as simple as that. At least he is in the threads most weeks watching the shows with us, and when it's something he likes he calls it.
Basically at least he isn't Noid.

Except that everyone has valid criticisms, they just don't shit on one another for it.
In addition, I keep reading about overly-sensitive, staunch defending, AEW apologists, but find none on these boards. In the weekly threads, and the one megathread, the same posters who praise also shame. When asked in the past to show these posts, it is always met with "No, you!".

I don't even care if they don't like AEW. What I don't have any time or patience for, are folks like Noid and xrod, who are so arrogantly stupid as to tell myself (when I quite regularly put together TV deals and see both sides of the data and financial info) and others, patently false information or anecdotes about U.S. TV ratings and ad rates, as if their false statements are proof or justification that AEW is shitty and/or going to fail, and people who watch or enjoy it are stupid.

This would be a valid point, but there is no playing the victim on my end. I am not saying these big bad bullies are hurting my feelings by calling me names. I am saying look at how defensive they are, they can't help themselves but to lash out.
I post the same sarcastic way about WWE, but oddly enough I cannot recall one time being told I am a Tony Khan Cocksucker. That is the point, that biased overly sensitive posters are incapable of having civil discussions regarding AEW.

Why do you think that is in the case of people who tell you they don’t even like AEW that much? They clearly wouldn’t be so biased and protective of the product.
Do you think they’re just lying? If not then it stands to reason that maybe it’s the way you carry yourself that causes that kind of response.

That is a good question, and I don't know. I have no rational answer as to why there is so much more backlash to my AEW posts. Like I said, I rip WWE too, I post the same sarcastic backhanded comments, but do not get anywhere near the same comments.
If it was just me, I'd get the "Tony Khan Cocksucker" when I post negative about WWE. Since I dont, I can only surmise that AEW is a much more sensitive subject.

It will probably be down because of no Tyson or "top guy" matches, but still sounds like a good card, two title matches, and there will prob be talking segments with Jericho/Omega/Bucks/MJF, etc.
Darby Allin vs. Jungle Boy will be cool...
– TNT Championship: Darby Allin (c) vs. Jungle Boy
– AEW Women’s World Championship: Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Tay Conti
– Christian Cage vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
– Hangman Page vs. Ricky Starks
– Trent vs. Penta El Zero Miedo
Jordan
04-17-2021, 01:32 PM
Yeah that isn't a great card to capitalize on a huge 1.2 million rating. I really hope they reshuffle or add something big. Pretty much it has to be Jericho in something big every week IMO. I wouldn't really consider some non title Omega match suitable. Darby vs Jungle Boy is pretty good for a main event though. I'm really waiting for something interesting to pop up with Paul Wight to bring him around weekly. Also for the love of god why isn't Brian Cage getting matches on Dynamite?

I like that card because they are all one on one matches, which I'll take over multiple 6, 8, and 10 man tag matches. Still feels like the matches are just thrown together randomly though.
Penta vs Trent why?
Page vs Starks why?
Christian vs Hobbs why?
No story, no heat, might as well pick names at random from a tumbler.

You have a point, that filler matches with no context can seem a bit dry, outside of the match itself. But the alternative is what you see in WWE, where we have the same match for weeks. Sometimes for months.
I'd rather have a couple filler matches sprinkled in between the feud matches, rather than see the same bouts ad nauseum.

Very true. The thing about "filler" matches is that they can and should eventually lead to something more. WWE has essentially no filler matches and AEW has too many filler matches that go nowhere or take sometime take a little too long to lead to something. Both could do better.
