I didn't see a thread so screw it. This was probably the one production I was least interested in but what else are we going to do under the circumstances? It's got an odd vibe to it and I'm not really a fan of 'alternate timeline' stories but Tom Hiddleston really just owns this. He can probably do this role in his sleep at this point. The animation with 'Miss Minutes' that explains the situation is probably the greatest thing. There's enough to keep me watching so let's see how this goes, huh?

Nice production design but seeming the most "unnecessary" show so far. Of course it's only been one episode.

Also, mighty convenient that a Gamora who comes from the past isn't a time variant, but a Loki that comes from the past is.

The multiverse is going to play a large part in future events and this show is a major introduction to it, so I wouldn't call it unnecessary.

Well it's not Gamora's show, so there's no real reason to mention her in it. If Guardians 3 doesn't address it, then yeah it will be a plot hole.
I can buy the "it was supposed to happen" excuse for the avengers, since their actions have such an impact on the entire universe, but it will be disappointing if they use the same excuse for Gamora.

Yeah, it's the ol' Doctor Who "fixed point in time" bit.
I'm only using tags out of courtesy, because it isn't really:
Clearly rampant speculation because it's only one episode, but I'm guessing the whole "sacred timeline" thing is artificial. They're forcibly trying to streamline the timeline(s) for some sort of cosmic convenience. It's how you end up with Red Skull being a stone guardian and, of course, an office full of copious copies of infinity stones. I'm guessing this is going to "end badly" and lead into the next Doctor Strange.
Another thought I have about this is that I think Loki in particular prob'ly bucks destiny a lot, and that there isn't just the "other one" running around. In fact, I'm also almost willing to wager this isn't the first Loki that Mobius has tried to or has succeeded in recruiting.

i get what you're saying but hiddleston has played loki 8 times (including this series and the upcoming what if...?) since 2011
in the same period he has starred in 3 short films, 13 feature films (plus one cameo), 2 documentaries, 2 tv movies, 12 episodes of a tv documentary, a handful of random tv appearances between 1-6 episodes, an upcoming tv series, four theatre productions and two radio shows
so what i think you mean is he doesn't do anything else that you've engaged with

I get that same vibe from people who ask about a certain band or artist that has 'disappeared' but it's like, no, they still do stuff; they're just not pushed as hard as whatever the new hotness is that the record companies want you to swallow.

Listed as Sylvie Laufeydottir. "Dottir" infers female gender as opposed to Loki Laufeyson. So it appears they are indeed merging the characters.

I kinda thought that, too. Also, in the grand scheme of things, I think Mobius AND his boss might also be Lokis (she always seemed to be short about the time lizards being "busy" in a way that was very Wizard of Oz-ish) who have been doing this for so long they may or may not even *remember* they're Loki.
Explanation: this timeline is a big long con and completely INFESTED with various versions of Loki, but since every Loki thinks they're more clever than every other, each one has a similarly impactful idea of the TVA; be it rule over it or destroy it or whatever. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing is kinda like The Citadel of Ricks and was started by Loki as a means of fulfiling his dream of ruling.
Or, you know, I can be completely off the mark and just need to watch the gorram show to completion.

This would be fantastic. I thought they established that he is for sure dying to Thanos. I'm thinking they might introduce Fantastic 4 in some fashion towards the last 2 episodes. And it would make sense if they're going by Mobius from the comics.
I feel like Kang is for sure happening and there will be strong reference to Fantastic 4 if not an actual appearance from Reed Richards maybe ( John Krasinski maybe? ). Kang is casted and coming and it would make a ton of sense to wrap Kang, Mobius and FF4 at the end of this series.
I wish this series was 8 episodes instead of 6.

Now *that* I completely missed. Now I have to go back and try to scour the scene for any other stuff they shoved into the refuse pile.
I like "our" Loki's reaction to the perpetual betrayals in like two minutes. He's completely done with what is obviously his own bullshit.
I wonder how many years of practice it took "Lonely" Loki to learn to build cities like that?
And finally, for some reason, I kept picturing classic RPGs in my head, but every party member that comes and goes is named Loki except Sylvie (and I still suspect Mobius who has been in the TVA so long, he doesn't even remember he's one).
Loki left the party.

Tom Guycott you had better not have figured the ending out you flash bastard.
Right path, totally wrong suspect... but considering they didn't even introduce said suspect until now, I guess it's close enough for government work. Also, it only makes my Citadel of Ricks analogy work if Rick populated the citadel with Jerrys and Beths and plenty of other characters that weren't him or Morty at all, and that Rick was actively trying to hide himself from every multiverse instead of dimension hopping with the portal gun.
Also, the reveal itself gave *just* enough away if you are familiar, but if you're not, it's still a mystery of exactly who the fuck this is (until nerds who can't wait push up their glasses and belch out the name in the next few days because they can't help themselves on social media). Especially the detailed animated armatures during storytime.
I really like the line: "... and, for a while, there was peace. Narciscistic, self-congratulatory peace."
That whole speech gave serious Ozymandias vibes; basically more Watchmen than Watchmen, because the stakes are far larger.

I don't know if Kang is taking over the Thanos role. He's slated to be the villain for Ant man 3. I think Dr. Doom is the way to go for the next multi phase threat. Though I could see Kang/Immortus/Rama Tut/ Iron Lad playing a part in future events.

Kinda what I meant about his expositional monologue. "I've been called many things... Conquorer..." was slid in there. Also, with his little animated action figures, when they began fighting eachother, with the battle armor instead of the "peaceful" versions of him with lab coats, it was clearly Kang. But outside of hardcore comic fans, people don't know who or what Kang is, and this did a masterful job of keeping that a secret in the bounds of the MCU.
Also, one thing lost in all this that I'm sure will be addressed later is the fact that The Tessaract is still at the TVA, which means our known and established MCU timeline is fucked up and missing an Infinity Stone... unless when the TVA reset the timeline, it actually forced the ending to the original Avengers where Loki never escaped...
https://i.quotev.com/img/q/u/16/6/29/msqeehcxrp-imag.jpg
"Here's the thing: multiverse theory's a BITCH!"
Anyway, here's another prediciton: after everything gets resolved, and Loki gets back to where he's supposed to be, he's going to pull the same trick "Lonely" Loki did to get around being killed by Thanos. What he does with that remains to be seen, becasue even though he seems to be growing as a person from all these hijinks, everyone from the actual timeline only thinks of him as they know him.
Shadow

Honestly TVA Loki is on a more rapid course to becoming a better person then main timeline Loki did. Basically he didn't need 2 more movies to become a person Thor could openly admire is what I'm saying. Just needed 5 episodes of a really good tv show.
Man I hope they show what happened when Kang took over the TVA at some point. Would love to know why Mobius and B-15 are still working for it after what went down. Also where's Renslayer in all this? My guess is she's back at the beginning of time trying to do a course correct.

I liked it, I hope there’s a lot more from him.
It was (a large) part his performance, and also something about the camera slowly pushing in and out while he would talk. It was almost like we could feel the centuries of trying to essentially save history from... well, himself drove him mad, and we were at least temporarily going on that ride as well.
But he did kinda have that Kenneth Branaugh style Shakespeare play movie quality to him. If he redid Othello today, pretty sure this guy'd get the role.

Mobius/Loki dynamic is great.... forgot...
Ke Huy Quan also a great addition... nice to see something from Marvel where just everything gels so good together.
Off to a great start, didn't want the episode to end and it just flew by.

I hope Quan's character isn't just a one-off.

Feels like too "integral" a piece of the "underbelly" of the TVA to just be a one-off.

Loki likes pie confirmed.
I was so emotionally involved in Sylvie's arc that I could TASTE the McDonald's.

Good second episode. Really enjoying this cast and the dynamic. Found myself "wondering" halfway through the episode just how much involvement, if any, the TVA will have in the upcoming Avengers movies. By far it feels like it is the most important/only important piece of building up to the whole Multiverse story... and now I am imagining a world where Loki is actually the leader of the New Avengers team. An in inverse of the first movie, Loki becomes the one putting together the team of heroes to save the Multiverse and is the "main focus" of the movie.
A man can dream.

Majors is being asked to carry a lot as he has to do a lot of work to make all of his character's incarnations different from one another, but still engaging. Miss Minutes continues to be a highlight and she's just hilariously unsettling in this episode. It's so odd how the series that I had the least interest in has turned out to be the strongest out of them all.
I wasn't a big fan of episode two but damn this one was perdy good.
or are you one four now? shrug

I've been shying away from Marvel for much of the past few years, but I did like the first season of this show. Is the second season worth watching?
Absolutely. They need to stick the landing on Friday but it’s one of the best things they’ve done in the last few years.

I like how this is more of a character study than anything else. Loki has a lot going for him and putting him through the ringer like this and the simple question of what is it he actually wants is very compelling and a great way to explore him. He is a lonely person and it's sad when you realize that he's only got himself to blame for his predicaments. Hopefully this ends on a satisfactory note.

I thought the end was a bit weird. Maybe because I don't see how it can lead in to the idea I want for the next Avengers (Loki puts together the team and is the main Tony Stark character)

I think at some point they conflated trickster for clever but i liked it well enough. The finale was easily the best ep of the 6.

My fav episode was the one where they were in the past chasing after Timely, perhaps because that was the episode that reminded me most of Legends of Tomorrow....

Miss Minutes is probably the greatest thing ever in the whole series. The scene of her watching the imprisoned Minute Men getting their punishment was tremendous and hilariously dark.
I hope it was the OG ending and not the Kang actor shit. I think it was the ending so I'm good with it.
seems like Tom really was done playing the character
I hope the Marvels box office didn't cost them what they're doing next because of some soft white muslim women haters.
