In the opening segment, Marvez was interviewing Guevara outside the arena and Shawn Spears attacked Guevara with a chair shot to the back.

Then Hangman Page defeated Powerhouse Hobbs with the Dead Eye in a pretty ok match. During the match, Ricky Starks tried to give Hobbs the FTW title to attack Page, but Brian Cage ran out and grabbed it away from Starks.

Then a quick Young Bucks backstage heel promo about how they're the longest reigning tag champs in AEW history.

Kingston is possibly the best talker in the business today. Love the passion behind everything he says. I don’t doubt he actually has a beef with WWE since the first time they ever reached out to him was right after his first appearance on AEW. And I can buy that he’s pissed off that a bunch of his friends got fired from there amid a pandemic in the past year.

But I don’t like that even he is taking potshots. What does it accomplish? They really don’t need to do it. I watch AEW because it’s a superior product, can’t that be enough?

Unfortunately one look at Reddit and you’ll see there are a ton of fanboys of both promotions that still get a rise out of this and eat this shit up. Wresting tribalism sucks but it’s never going away.

Lol, AEW doesn’t give two shits about the fans. It’s complete token PR shit. AEW’s entire philosophy is to give wrestlers a platform for the wrestlers to feel good about themselves. It’s like community theatre. You might go to a show and see some talented people. It’s fine to point that out. But if you snicker at the pretentious asshole doing a terrible accent, you’re an asshole.

This isn’t a product that cares about growing or being good. It’s a vehicle to get wrestling’s free agents a ton of fucking money to chew scenery, float their own ideas, feel validated and as a fan you’re just expected to adopt that perspective that this is good because it’s wrestling, it’s not WWE and they “intend” for it to be good.

If AEW gave a shit about the fans, they would have actually looked into what is missing from wrestling, and implemented their resources to best provide that. They would have researched what actually draws. They would have made more of an effort to actually be some sort of threat to the WWE’s hegemony, instead of safely and snugly sitting in their shadow, content to minimalize themselves to the point they have no real leveraging power and have to accept low-ball WWE deals and terrible creative if they want to be stars and not have to share a ring with amateurs who are likely to either hurt or embarrass them.

Fuck Eddie Kingston. What a fake, pandering bitch. And what sort of mark eats up their bullshit and can’t see what a feckless vanity project this is? The WWE is a passionless soap opera perforated by an old man’s idiosyncrasies, off-putting vision and peculiar relationship with language. AEW is a musical festival thrown together by local teenagers who think they can put on Woodstock.
