Good morning! It's our own little Route 66 this week here on Rate the Game as we pull into our 66th week with our 66th game. Before we pop the clutch on whatever bad boy we pull out of the pool let's take a look at what we did with last week's Rock Band. Well, Rock Band just barely edges out its rival with a 3.09 and shares the rather cushy number 50 spot with Virtua Fighter for the time being. I think Garbage's "I Think I'm Paranoid" was the key deciding factor. I don't have the stats to back that theory but it's a strong feeling. Speaking of strong feelings, time to see how everyone feels about this week's game! Let's see what the bowl has in store for us on Week 66!!!

Ta-da! We jump back into the PlayStation era and the horror motif as we must dare recall and rate Konami's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night! Super Castlevania has been pretty hard to top even after all these years. Unless I'm missing something. I haven't really played every single entry.

I remember enjoying the changes, but kinda also saying "wtf did they do to Castlevania".


I sunk a lot of time into this though, and liked it after "getting" the changes.


You bet your ass I bought the Castlevania collection just for Super Castlevania. Love that game.

Freaks me out to this day that Psycho Mantis knew I played it. Pop the CD into a CD player for the secret song was neat too.

Playing with a Gameshark was a blast. But with it off and if you don't look around for the secrets, you don't really get the full game.

Surprised so may people here never played it. Absolutely amazing game, my favorite Castlevania that hasn't been topped yet but led to many amazing sequels on the Nintendo DS and the phenominal Bloodstained game on modern consoles.
Had way too much fun with this, prefer it to the classic Castlevania games.

I was so disappointed that Ritual of the night didn't continue the lore and was just a completely new story with the same characters. Awesome games though.

Also, it's a 5 for me. Love the classic style games, but the metroidvanias added new gameplay elements, which create a lot of replayability.

That's pretty neat. I never would have considered sticking a PlayStation disc in anything other than a PlayStation. What was the song? A bitchin' version of "Bloody Tears"?

From pretty much the only 'cover' channel I've liked. Different takes on the song with the first being an older one.
