It’s probably someone reading the tea leaves of there not being any more Daniel Bryan WWE merchandise. If they cut it off because someone there knows they can’t talk to him because he is under contract, then the story easily writes itself. The WWE side possibly knows and could leak it even though AEW would want to keep it close. If it comes from an AEW source (and allegedly it does), then they are probably just trying to wax it for more attention knowing the debut isn’t coming for a while.

I’m still not convinced. I don’t think Bryan is that much of a...mark. I know he’s done stupid shit on the indies, but AEW is where art goes to die. I desperately want him to sign with a promotion that is neither WWE nor AEW, because they’re both just going to be ineffective shit. It’s not going to be shocking. Just disappointing.

Is there some massive track record of leaked AEW signings that didn't come to fruition that I'm missing? I know some people were underwhelmed with Christian as their big surprise signing at Revolution but it's not like any leaks came out suggesting it was gonna be a bigger name.

The only AEW leak gone wrong that I can remember was Marty Scurll as the Exalted One. They'd started the angle without having their planned guy under contract and then he chose to re-sign with ROH. A fuck up at the time, sure. But in hindsight it was a blessing as they got a far more entertaining performer in Brodie Lee in the role, and of course Marty turned out to be a pedo sex pest.

They’re no-brainer signings, and should have been sought after from the start. It’s a “good move” to go after them. Unless it shows up and spoils the rest of their roster. But the execution of their runs could be very demystifying as well.

He had good matches, but he was never a true main event draw. If Edge doesn't break his neck, Christian is never a WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He isn't as charismatic as CM Punk and not as good in the ring as Daniel Bryan. He's a solid main event gate keeper...which made him the perfect NWA-TNA World Champion until they got a real superstar in Kurt Angle.

i think, at the very least, it will show what they are coming back for and whether or not the rest of the roster are willing to take advantage of the interest that these guys will bring with them. I like AEW, I like they partnership with other promotions because it allows for "Hosses" to disappear elsewhere to be "hosses" and allows for talent to get a wider range of experience, which is kind of what some of us old guys and old wrestlers complain about. Plus the WWe needs to take AEW seriously if we want a change in their programing.

Regardless of what the ratings are it won't affect my enjoyment of seeing a new company flourish using some of the best and most interesting talents available. I'm a wrestling fan when it's good and I'm a mark when it's great. The matchups for Danielson in AEW are really exciting for me. Even if they book him against Kazarian one week, that will still be an exciting and probably fantastic match.
