Good morning, everybody. This took a little bit longer to get around to than usual but who really wants to get out of bed these days? And the weather is just screaming for "stay toasty and warm under the covers", am I right? Well, aside from that question let's also answer the question of where last week's Altered Beast ended up on our list. Old-school doesn't necessarily translate to classic but let's take a look at the results....

Hmmm. Not a great showing, unfortunately. It falls behind fellow Genesis title Streets of Rage and earns itself a 2.8. That's enough to secure a spot in the lower realm of the leaderboard. I'm wondering if I have a title in the pile that will have an average in the 1.0-1.9 range. Maybe it's this week's? Let's take a looksee and what the bowl has in store for us!

<iframe src="https://giphy.com/embed/j6wGOAqvlZbVqfU3pF" width="480" height="269" frameBorder="0" class="giphy-embed" allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="https://giphy.com/gifs/j6wGOAqvlZbVqfU3pF">via GIPHY</a></p>

And there we have it. Ugh, God, damn it, bowl. Show us some love for the season. Still not a horror game but a well-known one, nonetheless. This week we take a look at one of the bridges between Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4. It's the '80s throwback Grand Theft Auto: Vice City! Who doesn't love a crime-filled romped through the city fueled by new wave music? Well, maybe you don't. That's the point of all of this. Let's hear what you have to say. Rate and rant and vote and discuss and love one another! Until next week!

They need to make a completely new game in Vice City settings. Easily doable.

One of my favorite out of all of them.

This is the GTA where things started to get fun.

At the time, a 5. And I'll give it that.

I remember when Grand Theft Auto 3 was in the top 10. Will be interesting to see how Vice City fares in comparison.

Reminds me of this one video of a school performance where this kid reenacts a scene from that movie. Like, what the hell is he being allowed to watch?

How do you feel about Scarface: The World Is Yours on PS2? Does it stack up to VC, or do you feel VC does it better in a referential way?

Destor

VC for my money is in another league. VC is just so much damn fun it cant keep up. i think the only GTA clones the manage to approach the fun of any GTA is saints row. and VC being a parody helps it over scarface. scarface took itself very seriously to its detriment.

PS2 version or the remake?

One thing that was quite annoying was the race in the original. In the remake, it's much more manageable and I actually beat it second try.

Big Vic
10-20-2021, 03:42 PM
PS2 version probably? I got softlocked in the shipping yard right after the explosion after the guy locked himself in the room. A sniper kept killing me while the cutscene was going on.

I think my game was saved at that point so when I tried to just reload I'd be dead right after the cutscene.

Had to go with 4 here. GTA isn't really my bag as it falls under the "Open World Rule" but, come on; it's still a blast to go on a rampage with some boss eighties music as your soundtrack and it seemed to be a bit more polished than GTA 3. Still an enjoyable title.

I rated VC a 5, but for me the pinnacle of the series thus far is Grand Theft Auto IV. Especially after playing through The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, which combined, the 3 of them show the storyline not just from Niko's perspective, but the protagonists of the add-ons, too. *Chef kiss*

San Andreas got released in 2004 so I'm trying to piece together in my head what I would have been doing at the time that caused me to overlook it. I think it was during the time when I was starting my first venture into working in school and my family was moving out of the house they'd lived in for 15 years. Had other things on my mind, I guess.

That would be The Lost and Damned.

I don't know, I guess it was kind of underwhelming in terms of what it added to IV, but as stated before, I was really fascinated to see the perspectives of all 3 sides going to any lengths to get those fucking diamonds.

Even the main story, with Niko trying to figure out what he's looking for in America was extremely compelling. Plus, you get to choose between two different endings: one which sees you get a ton of money, the other sees you take revenge.
