Welcome to another morning, folks. We're ready to say goodbye to October as we're dealing with the last Rate the Game of the month. It certainly hasn't been as spooky as I had hoped but it's been fun nonetheless. Last week's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City brought all the boys to the yard, or however that expression goes, and it was quite engaging and it certainly stirred up some memories amongst us. That is what Rate the Game is all about, boys and girls. But, in the overall scheme of things, how well did it do and where shall it fall on our glorious leaderboard? Let's roll out the ever-growing list and see for ourselves....

Well, making some more history here as we don't just have any regular ol' tie. We have a tie FOR FIRST PLACE! Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time are going to be forever duking it out in the same spot up there at the top with a nice average of 4.8. Well, maybe something will knock them down off of that number one spot, or at the least join them in a three-way. Could we have a game that surpass these two behemoths that can claim the number one spot solely as its own? Let's dive right into the bowl and see what we can drag out....

Taa-daa! Well, this is certainly more like it in regards to keeping things in a horror mood. This week's Rate the Game is tackling BioShock! That's scary, right? It's seasonal appropriate, right? Well, the bigger question is how does it fare with you? Let's make it a good one as we roll into November! Rate and discuss and vote and rant and see you next week!

5. It's one of, if not 2K'svl greatest masterpieces. Infinite and the Borderlands (Tales aside) are definitely right up there, too though.

The only game I didn't care for in the series was BioShock 2. I'd probably give that entry a 3.

Also, I really can't wait for more news on BioShock 4, other than it existing officially via having been announced.

4.

Great game. Bad job handling the plot twist. Regardless, I'm always ready for dream time Mr. B.

i think the original Bioshock has some of the best atmosphere in gaming history. couple that with an exceptional scenario, legitimately funny script and an outstanding method of gaining xp by fighting the Big Daddys and you have a recipie for a truly memorable experience.

5 on artistic vision alone but it delivers much much more.

5 again lol. This is imo tied for best "shooter" ever made. Like Destor said, best the atmosphere is a masterpiece. I have framed old school prints of Andrew Ryan/Rapture hanging in my house.

Edit: Tied for best shooter with Half-life 2 for me.

HAHA Nice. I myself have one of those maps of Skyrim designed to look really old. Interestingly enough, about 5-7ish years ago, when there was a little mom and pop video game store practically right next door to me, the owner also had one of those exact maps on his wall. We must've talked about Skyrim for hours that day since the store wasn't terribly busy.

I mean, I'll include it once I start tallying it up but it does help to have it reflected in the poll in case I overlook it.

In the same boat here. I haven't played it but it seems like it'd be something right up my alley. My friend had a copy he borrowed from his brother and it was just there in the game room for the longest time and I never touched it. It looks like a cool setting and it's got some gorgeous graphics. I have BioShock Infinite downloaded but that, too, still hasn't been touched but I've been told it's not quite connected to the previous two titles.

itits heavily connected. insanely connect. 2 not so much. and i recommend skipping 2 altogether to be fair. its made by a different studio and 3 ignores it completely.

LOL. I think they may have also done one of the Oblivion map of Cyrodiil back when that game came out too.

I love little extras included in the game like that. Maps especially since it cuts down on the need to pause. Fan-made ones are especially cool since it demonstrates how hardcore they are about the game in question. This Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver map is a good example. I probably know the whole landscape like the back of my hand but it's still cool. I wonder if I can get one that I can mount on a wall.

Well, the papyrus-like map I'm talking about mostly has the 9 holds on it.

If you got the guide, you got a very detailed map, but suffice to say, nowadays you basically don't need physical maps since you can probably find an interactive one for just about any game these days.

Yeah, but having a physical copy is pretty boss. I bought my friend the map of the town in the first Silent Hill game for his birthday. Watching him with it made me want to get one for myself. :o

I miss things like that too. Was playing a new game last night and went to "manual" just to have a QR code pop up :|

I'm not disagreeing, at least not totally. Some physical maps, you can look forever seemingly, without finding where you want/need to go or whatever. With an online interactive map, at least with the good ones, you can just search the location if you know the name and it pinpoints it like Google Maps pinpoints places IRL. Just saying.

I definitely do appreciate all the hard work that has to go into creating physical maps, though, I will definitely admit that.
