View Full Version : Update: Jeff Hardy released.
Per PWInsider/Fightful, WWE has sent Jeff Hardy home after the following:
Hardy teamed with Xavier Woods and Drew McIntye against The Bloodline last night in Edinburg, Texas for the main event of that Supershow live event. Hardy spent most of the match inside the ring, being worked over by Roman Reigns and The Usos and apparently becoming more sluggish as the match continues.
Once he made a hot tag to McIntyre, Hardy disappeared into the crowd and didn't even return to the ring for the post-match celebration with his partners. We are told that instead, Hardy went into the crowd, followed by security, immediately after tagging out.

I wouldn’t read too much into that. It looked like he just kinda rested his arm in his chest. It didn’t seem out of the ordinary.
Of course if he was drunk he was probably extra winded.

I watched the match, he definitely didn't seem "fucked up" like he has been in the past. That match with Sting, that's all I can think of, but this looks different.
Either way man, it doesn't look good. if the dude did just take his ball and go home, whatever.

I don't want to jump to conclusions because as likely as Jeff falling back and using again, the idea that he was concussed or injured seems just as likely. He didn't appear to be high from what I saw. Certainly not like the TNA incident.
Curious that we haven't had this addressed officially.
It does seem like a concussion/head injury or some substance though simply because he left through the crowd instead of going through the ramp. That's odd.

Matt's tweet could've gone into some detail if it was an injury. Makes more sense for him to leave it to Jeff to explain if he relapsed or sharted and felt he had punched out his bump card and one more would've been a total mess.

Preliminary reports suggest that he was released after declining WWE's offer of rehab. If I were to interpret that charitably, I'd say that it doesn't necessarily mean that he's refusing help, just that he's refusing help through the company.
Not to downplay whatever issues he's going through at the moment, but if he wanted out of his contract, and knew that refusing their offer would get him there, there's nothing stopping him now from pursuing help through other means.
Hopefully he cleans himself up before anything else.

All things being equal, I would hope my brother said the same about me publicly... even if it were 100% true or he were just covering my ass.
But again, I'm not assuming he's off the wagon without proof just because of his past. It could have been as simple as "fuck this; it ain't fun anymore". He could be working a ploy to head to AEW (or even elsewhere - can't assume Jeff doesn't do his own thing). It could even be a long con by WWE themselves like they did with Brian Danielson after he "choked" Justin Roberts with his own tie during the original NEXUS invasion. You know, where he was "released" on paper, allowed to work indy dates, and then came back to WWE right at the end of his non-compete after the negative PR blew over and got "thanked" with a US title run for keeping his mouth shut about it (you can't convince me that's not what went down).
I get Occam's Razor and all, but it isn't necessarily good to assume the worst just because.

We've all seen Jeff Hardy fucked up wrestling. It ain't pretty and its OBVIOUS when compared to his sober work. This does not seem to be that. Looks like a Gail Kim situation.
Given he walked out and then got a release (something it seemed that he wanted) tells me he fucking played the game and out-played the out-of-touch Vince McMahon.

You know what? I should open a twitter account under that name so that the hyperlinik works. Also, if he doesn't show up in AEW, I could always pull a Meltz and say "Well... you know... plans change." Instant out that wouldn't lose me any credibility whatsoever. If that were what I actually was saying.
But I was legit asking: didn't someone else get released under a pretense of being "injured" or "intoxicated" or some shit, and refused to see a doctor, and got released? I could've sworn someone actually pulled something like that to get out of their contract, but I can't remember who.
*(By the way, someone pointed out to me that there IS a "tom guycott" - spelled incorrectly like I did it - on Twitter, but it legit isn't me. Some of it seems like things I'd post, but then other shit was completely off my mark where even I'd be fooled into thinking I actually wrote it.)

Well, given that the reason why people jump to that conclusion is because he was never one to "hide it well", so that's the first thought they'll think for any deviant behavior from the norm - which in this case is just getting the fuck out of Dodge.
What I will say, though, is that if this *is* some sort of "scheme" to leave (or an actual work within WWE for something not addressed publicly; see my DB stance), Jeff could swerve everyone and go work for Billy Corgan.
He doesn't necessarily have to show up in AEW just because Matt is there. There was a point where Jeff was in TNA and Matt was in Ring of Honor. Both guys ended up making appearances at both places, but not always.
Right or wrong, I'm just putting money on him not being happy there anymore. Kinda like that football player who up and retired at halftime of an NFL game.

Jeff Hardy really does have the “it” factor everybody knows about but nobody can accurately define.
Like I love Matt but anytime he’s just tried being regular ‘ol Matt Hardy, he felt like just another guy and it didn’t work. But Broken Matt, V1 Matt, Big Money Matt etc were all enjoyable to me because of his character work.
Jeff on the other hand, doesn't need a character, just being himself has always been enough to get massive pops everywhere. He’s the living embodiment of EWR’s “Unique” gimmick.

If he wanted to leave, there are plenty of other avenues you can take other than being fucked up, making people think you are fucked up or being wildly unprofessional. And before anyone says “But WWE won’t let people go,” it’s probably easier to get out of a WWE deal now than it was before. Is there anyone there that has asked for a release that hasn’t been given it at this point? You can call up Vince, talk to him about your health not holding up — mental or physical, pitch a conditional release, fight the contract, a bunch of things besides fucking over your coworkers and a paying audience.
And didn’t Jeff just sign a new contract recently?
It’s all a work so that they can introduce the WWE Universe to Willow!

This is all speculation, but here is a possible scenario.
Jeff Hardy was not under the influence in the match. Whatever reason he walked out, him being upset, him being injured, etc. may have led to his relapse, which was evident when he showed up the next day and and was sent home.

I really don’t think that would be the case. I think either Jeff’s relapsed proper or the WWE suspects him of relapsing, and he’s refused to take a test to either prove or disprove their suspicions. But offering him rehab implies there is some sort of knowledge of a condition, which he is refusing to treat within company guidelines.
It’s also pretty telling the company actually released him. I think there is an awareness about how firing someone can exasperate their personal issues. The company really does give people plenty of chances in these sorts of scenarios. Even if Jeff refused rehab, they could have still sent him home to “think about it.” They’re cutting bait on this guy.

I think Impact Wrestling or GCW is the most likely place for Jeff if he decides to keep wrestling at all. AEW should probably stay clear.
A silver-lining to this potentially awful situation is that if Matt wants to work with Jeff, and Tony won’t sign Jeff, maybe Matt leaves to go to wherever Jeff is and we don’t have to see him in AEW anymore? But Matt’s probably making too much bank.

I would only do that if WWE were insisting he keep doing flaming barbwire TLC Hell-In-The-Cell (on a pole!) matches and letting him take wilder and wilder bumps during all these years. That's a plus side of WWE becoming boring sticks-in-the-mud: they toned down a lot of the super dangerous ante-upping.
This is a different circumstance than, say, historically rewarding people who have obviously "enhanced" physiques because of Vince's bodybuilding predilictions, but then punishing them when outed or implicated for being on the gas. I would absolutely blame WWE in that instance.

If this were to happen, I'd honestly rather see a "send off" vs Darby Allin and not cross paths with Matt or HFO at all... but, you're prob'ly right, since the Bucks would have to go over. Prob'ly even CLEAN, and not make with the heat fuckery from the peanut gallery until after the Hardyz lost.
Plus, it would take at least some attention away from FTR vs The Briscoes since they're not involved in that. So, I could see your prediction coming true also.

The whole situation is interesting. Think about it. The WWE continues to make fun of his rehab and substance abuse problems. If this was done to any of us, we would be able to threaten to sue or whatever. Jeff could not. So if he did fake this to get released from his contract, then good for him. I know that's the unpopular opinion, but he should be able to work in front of an audience and not have to worry about that shit. He also hasn't been involved in a meaningful storyline since Matt was let go.
With all this said, he didn't relapse when they were stuck in Florida filming shows in the Thunderdome. If he did in fact relapse, and the stories are true, then it might be all the time on the road that is doing him in. I just hope that he gets the help he needs, whether it be physical or mental.
