James Michael Guffey has died at the age of 39.

James was best known as Professional Wrestler, Jimmy Rave. His career, which started in 1999, continued for over 2 decades. He was a two-time NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion. He appeared in Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling, where he teamed with Lance (Hoyt) Rock as the "Rock and Rave Infection." In Ring of Honor, he feuded with AJ Styles and was the "Crown Jewel" of the faction, The Embassy, and last appeared in 2013 as a Member of S.C.U.M. He toured Japan with both Dragon Gate Wrestling, and New Japan Pro Wrestling where in 2008 he competed in the "Best of The Super Junior" Tournament.

In 2005 he appeared on World Wrestling Entertainment’s Sunday Night Heat. Rave appeared in numerous Independent promotions including Rampage Pro Wrestling, Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment, and Combat Zone Wrestling, among many others. He also served as a booker for several years in Rampage Pro Wrestling and led a faction known as "Jimmy Rave Approved."
Outside of wrestling he held the position of Director of the Bartow County, Georgia Peer Support, Wellness and Respite Center for several years.

James had been struggling with drug addiction for many years. His struggles resulted in the amputation of his arm and, later, both of his legs.

James is survived by his ex-wife Felicia, daughter Kailah, son James II, and parents Jim & Toni Guffey. At the time of his death, he was living in the Philadelphia, PA area with Gabby Gilbert.

RIP, James Michael Guffey, 12/8/82 - 12/12/21
Memorial services will be held in Georgia. Details will be released at a later time.

Pretty sure I use to watch him at the old IWA-MS shows in like 2004. They were loaded with top indie guys of the era, even AJ Styles would come to our town and wrestle in front of like 30 people.

Ian Rottens kid ripped me off. I joined the IWA-MS team or some shit where I got some dog tags, King of the Dead Match dvd and was suppose to get a t-shirt. The punk never gave me the t-shirt he owed me at the next show.

Lol was it the same son that Ian had hit White Lion Mike Levy

Edit: No looking at the incident I think he has another son, a bit older and fatter like Ian. He would always run the merchandise tables.

I was probably 14 years old and me and my buddy "The Dookie Master" would walk around 2+ hours to the middle of nowhere National Guard Armory for these shows. Ian Rotten was a horrible promoter he never had flyers, advertisements.. even online nothing about his shows.

Funny thing is the other indy fed CWF that was in town would draw 300-400+ people with big names like "Gay" Guy Lombardo and "Sexy" Shawn Cook. Looking back those shows were actually probably more fun just laughing out how bad everyone was.

Dookie Master actually went on to get trained by these horrible wrestlers lol and became the Chub E Chaser and a horrible wrestler in his own right.

Been reminiscing all day. Look at some of these cards. The shows would probably get over at like 1am and we would walk home and get back around like 4 lol.

I forgot all the guys I use to see who made it to the bigger stages. Actually considering buying some of these DVD's just for a trip down memory lane. Would anyone else be interested in watching them when I get done with them? Gertner?

IWA Mid-South "2004 Revolution Strong Style Tournament" October 22, 2004 Lafayette, IN

The 2004 edition of IWAs strong style tounrament just blew away last years tournament with 7 incredible, hard-hitting, must see matches. Super Dragon, Samoa Joe, Roderick Strong, B-Boy, Homicide, Eddie Kingston, Austin Aries and BJ Whitmer all put on a fantastic tournament which is highly recommended for any wrestling fan. Other highlights from the show include a great womens tag match...a great match between Chris Sabin and Nate Webb...and an 8 man tag which is quite possibly the funniest match I have seen. Great show overall, highly recommended. Taped by SMV with 2 cameras and commentary by Dave Prazak, Nate Webb, Eddie Kingston, CM Punk and others.
