Here's to another week, ladies and gentlemen! We're deep in the heart of December and while it may be tempting to remain warm and toasty in bed to avoid the cold but we have responsibilities to take care of! Like Rate the Game. I think I've kept this iteration going longer than when I first started it way back when. Before we dive into the 89th game let's put last week's Gauntlet in its proper place on the leaderboard. How does the arcade hit stack up to the competition here on TPWW?

Well thankfully I don't have to do much editing to the list this week. Gauntlet can't quite get over the hump with its average score of 2.71. It falls on the lower end of the spectrum with the dregs of this collection of games but it can at least share the number 80 spot with Dead Rising, so that's something, I guess. Maybe this week's game will cause me to do more work to the list than I did this week. Whatever shall it be? Once again, the bowl must be summoned!!!

Hmm. I was wondering when we'd get to this one. I know I addressed this in another thread of my own but the time has come for it to face its turn at the barrel here on Rate the Game. We look back at the first entry in one of Ubisoft's most well-known franchises, the Templar-slashing, time-traveling, stealthy adventure Assassin's Creed! How did this first entry fare in your eyes? How well did it set the tone? Is it a classic or is it a waste? Let's do a deep dive into this sucker and rate it and see how it stacks up to the rest. Take the poll and discuss and share and keep on trucking in December. Until next week!

"Too many slip-ups to be really good." Perfect reason why it's a 3.

This game felt more like a tech demo at the time. Controls were horrendous.

This. I also had a similar feeling to P.T. when that got unleashed into the wild.

Pretty sure I'm at the end.

I'm at the fuckoff huge spire and Cortana keeps whispering sweet nothings into my ear as I power up this lift to go after The Harbinger. Everything is starting to unfold and I've completed nearly everything on the map.

Gave it a 3.

Obviously, the series got way better over time.

Wrong thread, I think.

3 I guess, but barely. Turned into one of my favorite series but boy the original was a little rough. Someone already said it but it basically felt like a big tech demo.

Gonna have to give it a 3. Decent enough game, but the first entry didn't really do anything to stand out.

As much as it irks that I'm so close to 100% achievements on this game, I really don't feel like going back to it.

Templar achievement is easy. The majority you can creep up from behind or take a stealth approach and take them out. Very few you HAVE to take a head on approach and fight on combat.

What's wrong with talking to Kristen Bell?

I tried doing the Templar one but some of them are glitched and don't always appear.

I love Kristen Bell; I'm not in love with Kristen Bell. Maybe when I'm really bored somewhere down the line and I don't have anything left in the pile.

AC became great but it didn't start great. 3

That seems to be the consensus here but I'm wondering what, if anything, was present in the first game that made people want to give it another chance with the sequel and beyond.

Also, I never saw the movie or read anything on it. How does it fare in the world of video game movies?

The controls fucking sucked.

the first game was proof of concept but it lacked diversity in gameplay. the skeleton was there but it became very same-ey very quickly
