Oh, happy day, it's another week! Time for another Rate the Game. It's the highlight of my week just as much as I'm sure it's the highlight of yours...underneath a bunch of other stuff. Well let's not stand on ceremony too long here as we've got Goldeneye 007 from last week to tackle. A lot of love thrown its way but does Bond on the Nintendo 64 have the mojo to take the top spot?

Well, not THE top spot but A top spot as it shoots its way up to cushy number 4, leapfrogging over some pretty solid titles to claim elite status. Bond is indeed the man with the golden game. But are there other games that can knock it from its perch? What's on tap this week?

There we go. This week we've got more of the Blue Bomber to tackle. No, it's not Mega Man 10 like I stupidly believed back in the day. It's the next generation of Mega Man that kicked off with this Super Nintendo title, Mega Man X! How does this iteration of the Blue Bomber fare with you? When you know the route is Chill Penguin, Spark Mandrill, Armored Armadillo, Launch Octopus, Boomer Kuwanger, Sting Chameleon, Storm Eagle, and Flame Mammoth from memory after all these years. AND it introduces Zero, X, and a whole new universe of Mega Man.

Yeah. This is another 5.

I would say it's on par with Mega Man 2 as far as being a perfect video game.

Love mega man x, can prolly still do storm eagle stage without getting hit

Anyways, stuck with a 4 on this one. I think X2 is a bit better but this one is still the goods. The music rocks, the formula works well, it looks sharp, controls almost perfectly and it takes the franchise in a new direction. That last one, however, is a strike against it for me. The story got too, I don't know, anime-ish as it went on? It's such a sharp contrast to the original run, but that can be seen as a good thing.

Also, I'll never forget seeing this game advertised in a comic and thinking, "They're already at 10? Mega Man 6 just came out not that long ago!" I was a dumb kid.

Chill Penguin is easily the easiet stage plus you can the leg powerup thingies in that stage, then you do Storm Eagle and get the strong weapon... by that point the fire stage is frozen...

I always had a problem with Chill Penguin (without fire), I dunno if it’s because I was playing on PC or because I was trash.
