I think that one way or another a few of us will end up watching this weekends upcoming GCW PPV and their debut at The Hammerstein Ballroom. The card is getting really good, for any company much less GCW.

The show is streaming on FiteTV and traditional PPV on Sunday 1/23.

I don't think I've ever seen a full GCW show before on TV, though I have been to one live ad it was the most fun show I've ever been to (Lost in NY). I am afraid their commentary will be bad because I've heard that about GCW. Hopefully they don't panic and hire Matt Striker because it's their first official "PPV".

Sweet seat... I sat next to that in the front row in the center portion for an ECW PPV and it was the most perfect seat ever... like perfect beautiful view of the ring... Hammerstein Ballroom is so good

The open challenge definitely teases FTR but it CAN’T be FTR. So the surprise has to be good enough to overshadow not giving the people FTR.

He talks about how the death match stuff won't fly at Hammerstein, and that is true. They can do a lot of hardcore shit but they won't be able to use a lot of elements that GCW is famous for as far as deathmatch stuff. I saw that but I also have to saw I saw one of the best "Hardcore" matches I've ever seen at the Manhattan Center which is just upstairs from Hammerstein, at an ROH show with Eddie Kingston and Chris Hero. But it wasn't a death match, just a really intense street fight.

I kinda wish I was goin to this show, it's very close to me but I didn't get tickets in time. Plus covid is bad here, not that I am living in fear but also coupled with the fact that I don't really like being around wrestling fans at live shows anymore because it makes me feel like I've made the wrong choices in life being around people like that.

One time at MLW at Melrose Ballroom there was this really autistic guy who kept pounding on his chest throughout the taping and eventually lost his shit complete when the Lucha Bro's came out and the guy came charging over and trampled over my girlfriend and I in an uncontrollable frenzy to touch the hands of the Lucha Bro's. I hadn't at this point put together that the guy was off so I pushed him back and was like "DUDE WTF" and he stood there looking at me scared as hell and said "I'M SOWWY".....

Needless to say it's hard to get my gf to go to shows with me now. I got her to AEW at Arthur Ashe but the place was so packed where I was it was a legit 30-45 min wait to get anything from the concessions or go to the bathroom.

When you walk to the arena there are broken groups of fans waiting for their friends and they are doing wrestling cat calls like "BOOOM", or singing the Elite Theme song and they all have on black shirts with stupid wrestling logos and pics and you have to just walk by them and kind of look at them and halfway laugh and halfway nod and also partly just look the other way like you didn't see them acting this way. I mean they are adults and they are just standing around chanting wrestling stuff in a group of maybe 4 people and they are like pissed off because they love wrestling so much.

Who wants to be around that when you could just, not?
